Happy Friday!
Alys snapped these early morning pictures around Zenyatta’s paddock this week. As the weather warms up, we’re counting the days until summer is officially here. The horses at Lane’s End have been enjoying the balmy weather. Z Princess is growing up fast, and Ziconic will soon start his basic training and conditioning at Lane’s End.
For those of you awaiting a restock of our most popular item from the Zenyatta Shop — it’s here! Our new batch of Key Tags has arrived. Order yours here.

Speaking of Frankel (or Sea the Stars), the Mosses and their crew have the unique opportunity to send Zenyatta to the UK for breeding this winter, as she will not have a foal by her side when it is time to breed her. I’m curious if the powers that be are considering such a mating. Just think about the potential of mating her to either one of those fabulous stallions.
Max
How about Frankel moving to the US for a time? His owner has a farm in a Kentucky. However it appears that Z’s peeps only consider stallions with proven track records. Frankel is as yet unproven. The risk of breeding to an unproven sire is apparent in the example of Secretariat. Secretariat as a sire did not reproduce himself. He has however done well as a broodmare sire.

Dear Vicki B:
I read this in the TDN today. Praying for the horse who is ill and praying that it’s contained if it is EHV-1. Love and Hugs, JB

For sure, Judy, wondering what the results will be this weekend. And thinking about Coz over in Barn 41, as well as all the other horses. Hugs, vb

Zenyatta’s mother Vertigineux, a very successful broodmare for many years, has certainly passed on her genes to her daughter. We already see the results in her fabulous babies. OMG, dare we hope. The Mosses have done their homework so to speak and have chosen sires to complement her own attributes. Really appreciate Lane’s End information on the process as well the pics and videos of our Z family. Cannot thank you enough for including us.

Thank you for the absolutely beautiful photos!!! All I can say is …. ♥♥♥♥

so fabulous and wonderful family zenyatta given!

I am wondering how Zenyatta seems to be feeling not in foal at this time of year and can the staff that works with her see any difference in her over all attitude? Is her next breeding going to take place in January or February? Has a stallion been choosen?

Thanks Max. Knew something was not right from the lack of info on the face book page.
Wish you could get some news of Tasty. Maybe you should just call Lanes End and ask. Worst they can say is “No Comment.”
Max
Shirlee. More news of Muchie and your Lea, also Danny and Beholder. May they all get well soon. Power up all.

In hopes of surprising Max, I DID call up Lane’s End just yesterday to see if I could get any info on Tasty. They put me on with someone very British – maybe our friend Charles – who said that there was nothing he could tell me as Tasty’s info is private. I tried Max. It was just a year ago that Debbie and I spotted her in the field by the Lane’s End entrance. We hoped to see her again last week, but this time there were mares with foals in the same field, and no grays.
Max
Sandy. Thanks for the effort. One must admire the care that is taken by Lane’s End to preserve the privacy of their Ms Temptation. This however only adds to her ever growing horsey mystique. There was a photo of Tasty alone in her paddock on the blog some time ago. Perhaps Lane’s End will provide another one someday. Until then I live in hope of seeing her photo. Hope springs eternal like a gift. It is another happy reason d’être courtesy of Tasty. Never forgotten is Tasty, Z’s feisty friend.

Sandy, Max, and Judy — loved reading your “Tasty” comments!

Max, thank you for the info on my favorite boys. Guess I had better get busy finding some new favs since these two are going to be 6 & & next year and will go to stud. This fall is shaping up to be a very exciting time with all the good older horses and CC due back. Also, great hopes for ROC.

Make that 6 & 7.

Chances are we never recall just when we made the biggest decisions in our lives-unless we can remember some of our quietest moments. We think of change coming with fanfare, but that so seldom happens. Most of the time we silently recognize the great things in our lives long before we bring them out to be known by everyone. It is hard to say just when the change began. Some of it is even ga lv quo di, sacred to us, not easily shared-nor wise to share, because it is our own that comes from somewhere deep within us. There is an inner life that makes changes easier because it prepares us to accept what we cannot change-and more importantly, to change what we can.
The whole world is coming. A nation is coming, a nation is coming. The Eagle has brought the message to the tribe.

Oh my goodness!!! Thank you so much for posting new photos of Zenyatta and Z14 at Lane’s End. I feel so very fortunate that you are continuing to keep us informed about our Queen and her family and your generosity in sharing her is such a gift for us!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Lane’s End is a most beautiful place and I’m happy for Zenny and her family to have such a wonderful home.

Thank you, Sheena. Another lovely color. What an honor to ride in the carriage.
Safe rides and races for all. Enjoy!

The royal procession was apparently running a tad late so the stupid TV coverage switched to another track (and this was BRITISH TV!!!!). Got one very brief glimpse of the Queen in pale pink. Think she looked a bit better in the brighter colors. Isn’t it cool that Victor and she conversed? I wonder if she knew about Chromie’s triple crown campaign?
Ann NC
Very cool, Sandy! Maybe Victor was able to give her a Chromie update.
Elaine
Thank you! A great way to greet the day….a post from the Z team.

Dear Kathy.Victor Espinoza has been chatting to Her Majesty one of the Kitten’s is in the 1st race.Big crowd there today can hardly believe it’s gone so quickly.Thinking of my mum today I got some lovely flowers for her.Hope Buddy gets a lovely birthday have loved learning so much about him.No signs of Dolly yesterday hope they are all safe.Poor Fubu had a tough time at the Doc hissing and snarling but he and doc survived!!his ulcers were bleeding but bless him he managed to eat some dry foodYay!!!Richard Pankhurst won another for William Buick!!! no luck for Wesley Ward.Marty is taking over in Wales!and he’s going to be in Dr Who!!!He loved his pancake and nanner. It was wonderful to see Monty feeding the chicks this morning they are sleeping now with full bellies!Have a great day.Hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Wow. Being a famous jockey sure opens a lot of doors! The week did go by quickly. I enjoyed getting to view the updates. Quite a social event! Have lovely thoughts of your mum. What kind of flowers did you get? Enjoy those beautiful memories. Happy Birthday to Buddy! I agree, it’s been wonderful learning so much about him. He’s a fantastic little dog. It’s alway nerve-wracking when you don’t get any news of Dolly. She lives in such a dangerous area. Poor little Fubu. It has to be so stressful having to go to the doctor’s so much. And he has to be in so much pain with the tumors in his mouth. One wonders if it’s right to keep him here. I’m not sure that I would. Oh well…it’s out of our hands. That was great that he ate some food, though. Congratulations to Richard Pankhurst and William Buick. Marty is going to open a Marty Merchandise Mart in Cardiff. He certainly gets a diverse diet. I think that rat has it better than any other rat anywhere. Monty is being a very good Papa. Bless him and his little family. Have a wonderful day. Enjoy your weekend. Hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.

So beautiful, Zenyatta and her Z princess. All of Z’s babies have been beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing all of this with her fans. I love Z and all her babies so much and can’t wait till they are racing, I feel they will all be like their mother and okay their fathers (haha). Thank you so much for the pictures and the updates.
Love you all.

Thank you, Team Zenyatta for sharing Zenyatta, Cozmic One, Ziconic, and 14 Zenyatta through the beautiful lens of Alys and Kyle! Their talents bring Zenyatta and her brood right into my home, which I appreciate so much. Thanks again for being so generous in sharing these moments with the public.
Love and blessings,

Thank you Team Z for keeping Zenyetta’s fans up to date on the latest happenings with the beautiful Z family. I do a daily check of the web site to see how Mama Z, Coz, Zi, and Z Princess are doing, and it is a thrill to get an up date. Thanks so much for all you do! ;-)
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Just realized that I’ve been reading (along with ooohing and aahhhing of course) but never wrote anything about this post. I love my iPad, but it is not easy to type on if you’re writing more than a sentence or two, and then I forget to go back to the computer to catch up. These pictures are fabulous, and I can only echo what others have written: We are SO fortunate to receive these updates! The Princess really is something (not to mention big!). Would really love some updates on Ziconic as well as some VIDEO of any or all of them. In the meantime, mega thanks to Alys, Team Z, and everyone at Lane’s End for your loving care of our horses and your kindness to their fans.

I have some sad/tragic news about Tasty. I checked the Jockey Club website and Pedigreequery.com. Tasty died last year (2013). RIP precious girl, you took a piece of my heart with you. My condolences to all the connections of this beautiful mare.
Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
Doreen,
WHAT!!!!!!! Tasty died last year, OMG, I wonder what happened, RIP beautiful girl how sad.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
OMG! I can’t believe this (or why they didn’t just tell me that when I called). Are we sure that it was her and not her Union Rags foal who died?
Max
Sandy. I do not accept this. Tasty is a multiple stakes winning mare in Canada and the US. When she retired, she was bred to top level sires by Lane’s End. A horse like Tasty doesn’t just disappear without any notice. She has a following in the US and Canada. Also Wales. Bloodhorse alone would mark her passing. I’ve still got her on speed dial. Hope springs.
Free the Moose. Power up Danny. Power up CDA, Chromie and all others who are sick. Reilly and Sir, you both deserve the best. Reilly’s got it in Marshall. Sir, you will soon prosper.
Beast, get to bed. Tasty, I’m faithful.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Max,
I haven’t been able to accept this about Tasty. I have been looking everywhere. I have found no posting of her passing away. This just doesn’t sound right to me. Surely there would have been a posting in some article if she had passed.
I just believe Lane’s End too would have made a posting. I remember when War Pass passed away there was many postings in several articles.
Surely all of us couldn’t have missed seeing something somewhere.
Surely they will see our concern and let us know something about her.
I know she is Mare and I know we don’t hear as much about the Mare’s, but she is a fairly well know mare. Hope someone will just let us know if she is still living. What would this hurt for us to know. We love these horses
Doreen in CT
According to the Jockey Club website, the death report was for her. I don’t know what happened, other than a death report was filed on her. I couldn’t copy the page so I included the relevant information that was given:
Name: Tasty Temptation
Dam: Parisia
Foaling Year: 2006
Sex: Mare
Year Died: 2013
Breeder: Josham Farms Limited
Death Report: Complete
I checked the status on Unbridled’s Song to see if the info was similar to what was listed under Tasty’s name, other than “Mare’s Bred”, unfortunately the same sections were listed/filled out. :'(

Such sad news about Tasty.RIP precious girl.Hugs Sheena.

I just watched the music video three times called “Zenyatta” by Liza G. Fly…..have watched it many times…..it still gives me chills to see Zenyatta racing. I love the video….and I love it every single time when I hear……”this is unbelievable” …love hearing “she is checking with Mike what gear to use”….. wow, this brings back some wonderful memories seeing her…….dancing and racing….and driving us fans crazy being at the rear ……then charging to the front like all the others were standing still. She is truly the “Queen”…….Miss Personality all the way…even in retirement. I do not think it can be said enough….. “thank you Ann and Jerry”….for sharing Z with us…..she brought such fun and happiness in racing…..and she brings it in retirement. There is no other like her!!! Just happy the good Lord sent her to you all …..that way us fans can enjoy her along with you all.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Sandy. Her Majesty knows EVERYTHING about horse racing, she would most certainly have heard about CC’s wins.Hugs Sheena.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Well good. She should have been impressed with meeting Victor then :-)
Max
Sandy. As far as anyone knows, The Queen apart from her family is only impressed in public by horses and corgis. You can see that in the way she took to Black Caviar and her regard for Estimate. She dearly loved Burmese. No doubt she is gracious to all people. Victor is a good jockey, but not yet in the league of the likes of Lester Piggott, the last jockey to ride a Triple Crown winner in England. Piggott is one of the best jockeys of all time anywhere. Not sure that even he would rank with Burmese in royal regard.
