Happy Wednesday!
We hope you are all having fun this summer. 12Z certainly is! He has grown quite a bit, and he now spends much of his time socializing and playing with other colts.
Alys sent us these photos of 12Z having a great time with his buddies–and mom!
Check back this week for the next Ask The Experts post plus an exciting announcement.

Thank you, Alys, for the photos I think should be titled “Zenyatta, Z12, and Friends Having Fun!!” No fly masks and a drop in the temperature make for happiness all around! Let’s kick up our heels and have some fun.
The clock is ticking for Mama and Son: weaning is a necessary next step but is a heart-tugging one. Let’s hope they have plenty of fun until then.
Zenyatta is so happy and healthy, and Z12 is so very cute and healthy. Thank you Mosses, Dottie, John, Team Z, and all the special folks at Lane’s End for keeping us a part of the magic.
Looking forward to the special announcement!!
Take care, and thank you,

Or maybe the name of 12Z? Just throwing things out there, but I can’t wait to hear the announcement!

“Amato Cavallo” (Beloved Horse) has to be his name. Nothing else fits.
Candace from Canada
Z12 is such a handsome colt. Wonderful to see him having fun and kicking up his heels.

Wow, I wish I could just watch Z and 12Z in the paddock… just for like 10 minutes. I think my life would be complete.

Zenyatta. Your baby is beautiful, just like you. You are an exceptional mother. Everything that you do is as close to perfect as is possible in this world. Stay well, Z.

Thank you so much for these superb photos of our Z and Z12 – Cannot get enough of them. Whisper to Zenyatta that Stanwyck finished 3rd today @ Del Mar. Great job. She has a Facebook page too!
Wish all the horses a safe and wonderful summer.
I’ll bet your training partners El Vino and Sarbonne miss you and Barn 55 lots ( At least I’d like to imagine they do. I hope they are a well cared for as when they were with you) with “your John”.

Dear Zenyatta,
Oh my love, what amazing photos of you and the babies. Please thank Team Z and Alys for sharing. They certainly made my day!!! It has been some time since you left the track in California and moved to your new home in the bluegrass of Kentucky, yet so much about you remains the same. We can see that the dapples are still there, shining in the sun. Those powerful hips are as distinct and finely muscled as ever. Although the cotton is missing, those ears still reach for the heavens and your eyes are as deep, warm and wonderful as ever. The dance moves may have gone from a waltz to full out modern expressionism, but the music still plays. No matter the place, no matter the time, your magic remains for always.
To my dear Z-friends, the first story I want to share about my trip to Lexington takes place at Keeneland. It was toward the end of a wonderful day for Shari and I. We drove into Keeneland Racetrack. Walking to the grandstand side, we stood admiring the beauty of the track and the historic clubhouse. We went inside to their amazing gift shop, I just had to pick up a few more books about horseracing and they have a fine selection. As we started back to the car, I headed to the left of the parking lot toward the sales barn. There was one very special place I wanted to visit. We went behind the main pavilion to the outdoor sales arena. This was the place that held so many memories of you when you arrived on a chilly Kentucky night. Although the day was very hot, I could imagine how cold the weather was that night; I could picture the crowd, hear the voices and feel the love. We walked around the area thinking, this is where Mike hugged you or there is where you walked with John and Mario or that is where Jerry and Ann thanked everyone. Your beloved Team Z surrounded you, how hard it must have been to know that this was not only a hello, but a goodbye. I could see the flashbulbs going off to capture your image and the hands reaching forward in hopes of touching your velvet sides. I was not there that night. I have only seen the video, yet it remains such a vivid image in my mind that even on a bright summer day it seemed all too real.
As far as fairytales go, Zenny, you are the fairest of them all. And the Prince, well he is so very charming.
Sweet dreams to all. Hugs and kisses. XXXXOOOO

Dear Sis Dawn, Thank you so much for sharing part of your trip. You just don’t want those trips to end, do you.
@Zenyatta and Baby Z, you both seem to just get more beautiful. Beautiful pictures.
Everyone have a good night. Love, Peggy

you said it all…..(:

Wow! You really ARE “back” (and I should know better than to try to read one of your posts without my kleenex at the ready!!!). The video was playing in my head as I read this, and I’m so glad that you had the first-hand experience of seeing this special place. I am SO hoping to be able to see Barn 55 in November so that I can envision where Zenny lived and thrived!

Looks good for a visit. There has been no news regarding the destruction of Hollywood Park.

Dear Z-sters,
Shari: My goodness I miss seeing you every day. I am so glad that you beautiful Miesha is doing better. Talk to you soon. All my love.
Barbara Wood: Thank you for always keeping me in your thoughts, special lady. And thank you also for your concern for our beautiful Colorado. I had been worried about you as well, with all of the storms I was hearing were hitting Texas while I was away. I was glad to hear the news you shared about the protestors on behalf of the horses in Canada. It is a battle that just has to be won! I too cannot wait to meet you at Breeder’s Cup 2012. Too fun!!!!
Keta: Enjoyed hearing about your history in Lexington, that bluegrass most certainly has gotten into your blood.

Sue Noel: It is great to be hearing about your beloved Barnaby again. How remarkable God’s plans can be for us! I believe you have been blessed with your own very special angel.
Abigail: Dear friend, you are always in my thoughts also. I can’t wait to get caught up on the Vault. We will certainly keep in touch!
Darlene Daniels: I was so sorry to hear about your fall. I have found that I just do not bounce like I used too. Keep smiling and feel better soon!!
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)

Marty R: We share a beautiful home and a special spirit in Colorado.
Brenda S: I hope everything is well with you my friend. I was sorry to hear that Ontario has been suffering also. The cruelty of man can often defy explanation. Tell Vic hello. I know her schooling will be starting soon and I am very excited for her. The Olympics in London are already under way. I love watching them and am looking forward to viewing as much as I can. Will write soon.
Ann: Thank you for sharing the lovely story about Teddy.
Too you all, your warm welcome back deeply touched my heart! As always, you friendships continue to give me great joy!! Thank you so very much!!!!

I know 2 of our outstanding redneck members are going to the race. Please take lots of photos and share them with those of us that could not be there. I love Hansen and Mikey.

I just became aware of this. This is a “dream team.”

The new post was a big lift that I needed this week. I was very low all week and then last night I saw the new post. All of the new pics brightened my heart. This site is worth more than just information and photos about horses. This site is a place that can and does bring happiness, love and family to a group of bloggers that enjoy one common element. Zenyatta the Queen Thanks for the lift and helping to heal my heart.
Darlene Daniels
Sue,
Sorry to hear you have been down, but I can relate to everything you said. Hope you have a happy day.
Sue Fl CPRC
Thank you
S. Murphy
They are sooooo beautiful!!
Anne
I had heard there were new photos and how Z was bucking. How amazing to see this pregnant mare able to buck like that and not lose her balance. Her best attribute was her sense of balance because of her size. They sure do have fun together and you can see him picking up all of her habits and becoming more confident which is a tribute to his mama. I wonder if he still makes noises as he runs etc. His muscle tone is amazing. Yes, indeed he is HER son…
I wonder if the announcement is a name for baby Z? He will be weaned soon…it could be that event as well. I am glad he does have new friends as it is very important especially as this weaning time comes close. It helps ease the transition for the babies. Moms….that is another story.
Loved the photos, thanks again Alys. We are lucky that you are able to share the photos with us. Thank you, LE for allowing them along with Jerry and Ann Moss of course as they are her main connections.
I stilllll have never heard if Jon has ever seen him yet. I might just be missing a post. If so, I appologize.
Darlene Daniels
Anne,
I have never heard yet if John or Dottie have seen 12Z either, I read faithfully and dont think I could have missed that. Have asked several times if they have been to visit and never got an answer.
Maryp (New York)
Darlene, Yes, I have wondered that too since there hasn’t been any mention of it or photos I assumed that they have been busy with the racing season going on and have not yet had time to get away.
Do any of the Dumplings know anything?
Barbara Wood (Texas)
@Dawn Conrad–thank you so much for your kind words. Will your mom be able to come with you to BC 2012? We would love to meet her, too! My mom would have thought this all great fun.
Darlene Daniels–I agree with you about Mikey riding a donkey–lol!
@Sue FL CPRC– I heard a phrase somewhere that sople to me–“Breathe out the grey skies, and breathe in the blue skies”. I think that is what Zenny does every day.
Hugs to all. Eagerly awaiting the next announcement.
Ann
I like that phrase…thanks Barbara. I will pass it on.
Sue Fl CPRC
That is nice she is so special.

Hi to All,
Love, love, love the pics of EARnie and the babies just enjoying life, so beautiful! Alys, you are becomeing quite the photographer……these are wonderful pics! LE and staff, I’m so glad the Mosses chose you to care for their priceless mare, they couldn’t have made a better choice.
Could the wonderful news coming be……….a name for EARnie? I would be so excited to hear they have finally thought a name for this special baby, then I could stop calling him EARnie.
Zen you couldn’t look any better than you do……..absolutely vibrant!! I love you so much and it makes me so happy to see you happy and fulfilled!
Have to run, Sally B is up visiting and I thought I’d drop in and catch up as she is still sleeping…….she sleeps late!! I have been up for 2 hrs already. We’re going to the waterpark today and will ride the BIG scary ANACONDA which is a water coaster and just too much fun.
Hugs and Kisses to Zen and EARnie and all babies in the picture, Auntie Sue
