Sheena. This is for you and other Frankel fans. Here is Morpheus winning the Stableford yesterday at Ascot. He really had to work to get that win. Won by a nose. You can see that he is a bigger horse than Frankel or Bullet Train. Might take after his dad, Oasis Dreams, aka Brad Pitt.

Dear Max:
Thank you so much for this link. What a determined race M ran. Such a talented family. Hugs, JB

JudyB. Everyone of this family is a racing winner. The common denominator of course is Kind. Broodmares rule. Hoping for the same for Z and her babies. Coz and Red have already won in the good looks department with racing results to follow.

Sheena. That race showed that Morpheus has courage and determination. He could have given up at two crucial points, but instead he persevered. He’s got promise. Cecil must be smiling in heaven about that win. And we here must rejoice that all of Kind’s babies are winners. She has raised and taught them well.

Very sorry to hear that VI is not doing so well. He must indeed miss Black Caviar. He’ll have to throw himself into his career.

Horse Racing: Mucho Macho Man impresses in 1st workout in upstate New York
By ANDREW CHAMPAGNE The Saratogian Published: Saturday, July 13, 2013
SARATOGA SPRINGS — It was a busy morning Friday at Saratoga Race Course and the Oklahoma training track, but one multiple stakes-winner found a way to stand out with an old-school workout.
Mucho Macho Man, who finished second in both the Breeders’ Cup Classic and the Woodward a year ago, breezed one mile in 1:44.87 in his first workout in upstate New York. Most recently, the 5-year-old son of Macho Uno finished third in the Criminal Type on June 14 at Belmont Park, which doubled as his first start in nearly five months.

McGaughey gets Man o’ War win (article plus Race Replay)
By Claire Novak | Bloodhorse Updated: July 13, 2013, 10:27 PM ET
Phipps Stable’s Boisterous became a Grade 1 winner July 13 at Belmont Park, threading his way between rivals to claim the $600,000 Man o’ War Handicap by 2 ¼ lengths . Pan American Stakes winner Twilight Eclipse was second at odds of 8-1, while 22-1 shot Exclusive Strike finished third.
Trained by Hall of Famer Shug McGaughey, Boisterous came off a solid victory in the June 9 Monmouth Stakes to win the 1 3/8-mile Man o’ War in a final time of 2:14.11 on the good inner turf. It is a race his sidelined stablemate Point of Entry took for the same connections in 2012, when Boisterous was wrapping up his 5-year-old season with back-to-back wins in the Red Smith Handicap at Aqueduct Racetrack and the Knickerbocker Stakes at Belmont, along with a runner-up effort in the River City Handicap at Churchill Downs.
“I’m going to smile on this one, because this horse deserves to win a grade I,” McGaughey said of the 6-year-old son of Distorted Humor . “He had been training so good. We kind of caught a turf today we liked. I was looking for a little bit of rain. I’m tickled to death, not for me, but for the horse.”

Emollient takes American Oaks (article plus Race Replay)
Brisnet.com Updated: July 13, 2013, 11:08 PM ET
Juddmonte Farms’ homebred Emollient is bred top and bottom for the turf, and on Saturday lived up to that promise when taking the Grade 1, $350,750 American Oaks by a half-length under jockey Mike Smith.
Emollient found herself tracking in third behind slow fractions of :25 3/5 and :50 1/5 set by Sarach in the opening half-mile of the 10-furlong contest. Smith niggled his filly and she eagerly moved up to press Sarach and keep her honest as the field headed down the backstretch through six furlongs in 1:14 4/5.

Arlington: Rahystrada takes Arlington Handicap for a record third time
(article plus Race Replay)
By Marcus Hersh Daily Racing Form 07/13/2013 7:26PM
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – Forty-four starts into his career, 9-year-old Rahystrada is as willing and capable as he has ever been. Saturday at Arlington, he became the first horse to win the Arlington Handicap three times, capturing the Grade 3, $200,000 turf race by a half-length over longshot Temeraine.
“We’re as amazed as anyone,” said Byron “Scooter” Hughes, who trains Rahystrada for owner Robert Courtney Jr. “He keeps telling us he wants to go, so we go.”
Rahystrada, a gelding by Rahy, won his first Arlington Handicap in 2010. He didn’t contest the race in 2011, but won again in 2012. Cosmonaut and Round Table are the only other two-time winners of the race.

Dullahan ran a great race-from DRF article posted above
Temeraine, a 29-1 shot, came up the fence for second, edging Dullahan by a neck. Dullahan, making his first start since two poor races in Dubai early this spring, ran solidly in defeat, waiting patiently behind the lead pack under Kent Desormeux before launching a wide rally just before the quarter pole. He finished with good energy and was one length clear of Najjaar. Keep Up, left with too much to do at the back of the pack, rallied decently for fifth. Coalport and Beer Garden finished sixth and seventh, respectively.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Thanks BGG for the details about my Dullahan ♥♥♥ it looked more like a nose than a neck to me for second (which would have won me a little cash), but he looked good with his trademark late rally almost being enough!
Terry Crow
Very good return for Dullahan. Horses usually take a few races to recover from a Dubai trip. If the connections keep him on either the grass or synthetic, he should do quite well in his next start.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Terry Crow
You got me thinking on one of your recent comments. Just wonder if it was just like that. You mentioned about the owner of Whirlaway bringing him back that then you said well just Case Closed. I had thought about that they just wanted him back and with all the stuff that farm was going through and had been through. You think they just got him back Done Deal. I would like to know the date he was brought back too.
But, you know they say Mr Kelly doesn’t like the spot light at all, And there’s nothing wrong with that. That’s kind of how I am too. I just wonder if him being the new owner would ever put out much info on this topic either. I wish they would but I’m scared they want.
The person that I talked to from Kentucky told me that Whiraway was there. But, yeah I know there are still unanswered questions.
I was told to check out the book Wild Ride. I ordered it on Friday. I am horrible about getting through a whole book, but I am going to try. I am reading the bible straight through and I am only to Job.
Terry Crow
Peggy-It was just that I trust Liz Whitney, the former owner of Calumet, to do the right thing. If it has been said by anyone who would know that she was involved in that situation, I would bet it got done exactly that way. She was a very honest and forthright person.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
I agree completely.

It’s July 14 and today’s the birthday of our heroine, Ann Moss! Mrs. Moss, I hope you have the loveliest of birthdays, and many, many more!
Z-sters, here’s a link to the birthday poem I composed for Mrs. Moss in 2012: https://staging.zenyatta.com/experts/ask-the-experts-4/comment-page-3#comment-159951
And here’s my poem from 2011 about Ann and her love for Zenyatta. (Sorry, I don’t have the permalink for this one.)
A Poem on the Occasion of the Mosses’ Visit to Kentucky September 2011
Dear Z, we’re all so lucky
That there in Kentucky
You’ve just had a visit from Ann,
Your first—
And forever your foremost— fan.
Her heart with love for you
Is always ready to burst,
(We all know that’s true),
And in an interview
At the U of Kentucky
She revealed about you
A new thing or two.
By her we’ve just been told
That even before you
To her and her hubby were sold,
You were so sweetly bold
As to lay your head on her shoulder.
To Ann ’twas a dear pleasure,
And that simple gesture
Then and there told her
That you were a treasure
Far more precious than gold.
Now Ann does contend
That at Lane’s End
You’ve elected the pasture to mow.
Well, dear Z, that sweet bluegrass
Is truly first-class—
Just right for our famous lass.
It’ll help your little one grow,
And soon you’ll have that baby in tow!
For you we used to cheer
“Go, Zenyatta, go!”
Well, it’s a new year,
And maybe from your Ann you’ll now hear,
“Mow, Zenyatta, mow!”
With that in mind
While we await more news from your Dot,
We hope you’ll find
A particularly luscious spot
And eat the whole lot.

Happy Birthday, Dear Ann Moss!! My wish comes with such deep gratitude to you for the generosity you have shown in sharing your wondermare and her sons with us through the fantastic Zenyatta website. The site is a daily respite from whatever turmoil encountered during the day simply because Zenyatta brings me peace and this place with all the photos and information brings her to the forefront of my heart. Thank you for allowing us to have glimpses into her post-racing life and to see her story unfold as a broodmare. Thank you.
Trina, thanks for the great poems and thank you for the reminder.

Happy Birthday dear Ann Moss, many blessings upon you. We continue to thank you for sharing the beauty and magic of Zenyatta with everyone. May you have a great day and many, many more.
Looks like I’ve come back at just the right time, to celebrate lovely Ann’s special day. Have been busy with grandkids for four days, running with them has worn this old bag out, but what fun it was.
Yikes, so much has been going on here, I’ve been trying to catch up, but between the blog and 295 emails it will take me a while to get current.
Just have to say I read Hovis’s latest blog and almost died laughing. “chase the chipolata up my man sausage cave,” this is hysterical. He is the best writer I’ve read in a long time, who is the author of this stuff I sure like to meet him or her. Ha, ha.
Well I will press on reading the rest of the news and get back later. Love to beautiful Zenny and her handsome boys. Auntie Sue
