July at Lane’s End

Happy Wednesday!

Last week was a special one for the web team. We packed our cameras and muck boots and headed to Lane’s End to catch up with Zenyatta and her boys.

We roamed around the paddock with Zenny and 13Z (with pockets full of peppermints), spent a day with Coz to observe his new routine, and took a lot of photos. In the coming weeks we’ll put up photo galleries and add new prints to the Zenyatta Shop. Also in the works is a video interview with Assistant Yearling Manager Cooper Sawyer—he’ll explain how Coz is being prepped for the next stage in his career.

Since it’s that time of year where we begin to make plans for the Breeders’ Cup, we’d like to announce that there will not be an official Zenyatta Celebration at the Breeders’ Cup this year. Instead, we’ll hold a special event online that everyone can take part in, from the races or from home. Details will be announced at a later date.

      Happy Friday to you. Thank you once again for posting wonderful Hovis. Just love this boy and his Mum. So much fun now he’s got a phone.

      I remember Barbara Woodhouse very well. Used to watch her dog training show on our PBS station. She used to be so innocently funny. Her trade mark phrase was “walkies” in a very high pitched voice. Hugs, JB

        JB, I loved watching Barbara Woodhouse and watched her on our PBS.
        I have a book on my shelf by, Blanche Saunders. It is, Training You To Train Your Dog. It was given to me because of the title, cute. Most critters do train us…right, Hovis! Have a great weekend everyone. Hugs!

      Continued thanks to Max and Sheena for keeping us connected with Hovis. I imagine that he’s going to have a LOT to say now that he has a phone. Maybe he will tell us more about his jumping efforts. Always a great way to start a Friday, but as Barbara said, now we have to wait out ANOTHER week!

    Dear Ann No problem! heard a troubling item on our news today .A 2 month old pony was found dead on Dartmoor a ritualistic killing it seems 3rd or 4th case in Devon and Cornwall this year Very sad. love to Moose and Goose hugs Sheena

      Oh, Sheena, I am so sorry to hear about the sweet ponies. Sick ,sick minds.
      Our ponies living along our coast have been the victims of violence. They put out rewards for any info and believe that helped in arresting the ones responsible.
      Moose and Goose are staying close to the farm pond and are HUGE GIRLS now!!!

    will go to the StNic candle site asap….
    but I cant believe he has now had colic surgery….two major surgeries in just as many days….he is a strong boy…needs all our prayers…
    ….
    I am saving Hovis until later….after the candles…he will help brighten the day
    which by the way started out fairly well…
    found my birthday card from the hubby….he got me a gift certificate to the bathhouse
    here in hot springs….its like turning a kid loose in a candy store….can not decide what to do first….does Hovis do spa treatments….we all know Z does…esp mud baths..

    Thank you all so very very much for the photos and blog about Zenyatta and her colts; she truly captured our hearts and it does the soul blessing and good to keep updated on their lives. Again, Thank you!
