Happy Wednesday!
Last week was a special one for the web team. We packed our cameras and muck boots and headed to Lane’s End to catch up with Zenyatta and her boys.
We roamed around the paddock with Zenny and 13Z (with pockets full of peppermints), spent a day with Coz to observe his new routine, and took a lot of photos. In the coming weeks we’ll put up photo galleries and add new prints to the Zenyatta Shop. Also in the works is a video interview with Assistant Yearling Manager Cooper Sawyer—he’ll explain how Coz is being prepped for the next stage in his career.
Since it’s that time of year where we begin to make plans for the Breeders’ Cup, we’d like to announce that there will not be an official Zenyatta Celebration at the Breeders’ Cup this year. Instead, we’ll hold a special event online that everyone can take part in, from the races or from home. Details will be announced at a later date.
Enjoy!

Those are awesome, the boys are so handsome. I guess Coz is getting ready to go get broke in September/October. My filly, Stella, will be doing the same thing. I can’t believe the 2 of them will be off to the racetrack next year. Time flies :)

Both Cozmic One and 13Z look very impressive and handsome. I’m so excited to see Cozmic One race.

I cannot explain how much my husband adores Zenyatta! She truly is one amazing lady and mom. She brought Americans together to see her run.
TIzHerself
She also was this Alberta girl’s inspiration to make an 11 year dream come true and visit the Blue Grass state to see her run in the 2010 Classic… will never forget that trip, not only having seen her in the flesh but there was Cigar, A.P. Indy, Rock Hard Ten, Curlin, Einstein, Awesome Again, etc…
Love Z so much!!!
Cathleen
Great photos. Thank you! Look forward to the video interview!

One has suddenly grown into a real live horse-that head has the look of heart and determination. And of course, the handsomeness reminiscent of the beauty of his mama. Little Red has not only grown into the family ears, they fit him! Z has gained a nurturing look instead of being warrior princess and she is more beautiful than ever. Quite the beginning of a tradition that I hope lasts a very long time.
Candace
Every time I see her again, the love is stronger than ever. She is still just as special as she was on the track!!!! I agree that little Tapit boy is fantastic. So cant wait to see Coz hit the track, too!
Margaret
I remember people bashing Coz for whatever reason. I think these pics show how handsome he was, is and always will be!
And 13Z wow! He’s huge! I don’t remember Coz being this big at such a young age!
And Z seems so happy and content being a mom. Thank a million times for these wonderful pics and update.

Margaret – Must be esp because I was thinking the exact same thing about very early posts regarding Coz’s neck. The poster said he/she was worried because Coz was ewe-necked. I thought at the time and still do that what the poster was actually seeing was the very high withers Coz has that he inherited from Zenyatta. Coz is growing up to be so beautiful and there shouldn’t be criticism of him now for sure.
I agree with an earlier poster that Z13 is one of the most beautiful colts I have ever seen. He was born looking already grown up. And those muscles – wowee – what a babe he is already.
Looking forward to additional photos. Thanks to Mosses and Lane’s End for the access to our Queen and her boys.
Casey
Great photos!!! Love the kitty ones too!! Can’t wait to see the new ones as they post. Also thank you for taking the time to answer all of our questions about “what’s next”.
Ingrid
OMG! I can’t believe how grown-up Coz looks! That one of him galloping by himself – had to look twice, thought it was Zenny! A beautiful lady and beautiful boys. Great pics! Our princes are growing so fast!
Bonnie
all three are just so awesome, love them all, thanks for sharing with us
Casey
I love how Cozmic One’s ears point forward as he’s racing about- just like his mama!
Katie Ziberna
The older Coz gets the prettier he is! 13Z is growing fast and Z looks fantastic :)
Mark

Kathy
Spectacular photos, Kyle! How could they NOT be, though, given your subjects? Incredibly beautiful, one and all. Thanks, too, Lane’s End, and the entire Team!
Cheryl Smith
Thanks so much! They are adorable and we appreciate all the updates. Both boys are growing up so fast, and love seeing Zennie anytime!
Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
Thanks Team Z for the exquisite photos, you all do such a great job with these! My handsome Coz looks ready to leave for the next stage in his life. I sure hope somehow we can continue to get pics of him in training, as difficult as that would be. I just can’t imagine not seeing him for months on end.
Red sure looks big and beautiful and like a typical “little stinker”.. He does look very strong and a lot like a quarterhorse foal. Love him.
Margaret, I agree with you that some people make negative comments about Coz, which I choose to ignore. These guys are by two different stallions and have two different body types. Coz may turn out to be the distance horse and Red the sprinter. They mature at different levels, so I think people should wait to see what happens when their grown and racing. Many people on the blog prefer the chestnuts too so that can make them prefer one over the other. They are both beautiful colts in their own right.
Love to beautiful mama Zen who shall always be a favorite hugs Auntie Sue

Sue, I agree with you but I didn’t think that some people would be rather harsh with their words.
Human youngsters from the same parents vary in stature and coloring etc. Some really good looking and some not so much. I am no expert on breeding and I know that some of the not so nice comments about Coz were made by people who are knowledgeable BUT I was surprised at their comments. That also goes for Rachel’s colt by Bernardini.
Coz and red prince are both great looking colts and thankfully they are healthy and growing strong.
shirleeinindy
I agree Mary. From what some people said you would have thought Coz and Rachel’s Curlin colt were so badly made they needed a walker to get around. I remember my nephews as teenage boys and they were gangly, their feet and hands were too big and they tripped over their own and everybody else’s feet. Gotta give these guys time to grow into themselves.

I’m IN for Zenyatta’s Online Breeders Cup Event. Thank you for the photos of my favorite broodmare and her offspring. Sending virtual peppermints to Z, Coz and 13-Z. Am anxious to see what a Zenyatta/War Front foal looks like. That will be some Waiting Room that night. Love Ya, Zen.
Judy
Thank you for sharing these. The boys are precious and Zenny exquisite. Enjoyed meeting the cats.
