The facts are the facts . Blame had 5 starts for 2010 , 4 1st place wins (1 being a Grade 3), 1 2nd place. He had 13 lifetime starts 9 1st, 2 nds, 2 3rds.
Zenyatta had 6 starts for 2010, 5 Grade 1 wins, 1 2nd place to Blame,also a Grade 1.
Her record far outshines that of Blames.
She had 20 lifetime starts with 19 consecutive wins and 1 2nd place Grade 1
race.
Her lifetime record , as everyone knows has out shined every Thoroughbred to ever hit the track. Even the Great Cigar.
I can hardly wait until she has a sibling or a foal of her own to try and beat her record.
She deserves HOY for 2010 and an induction into the hall of fame as the greatest thoroughbred of all time.
The Thoroughbred horse racing world has seen the best and to deny her HOY would be devastating to all the race tracks here and abroad.
Truly a horse so talented and so loved is what needs to be the deciding factor for HOY. So many are talking about horse racing and you have awakened our world to so much love and determination. You are the horse of a lifetime!!!
Zenyatta’s last race was her best. The fans’ roar before the race agitated Zenyatta. Hence, she began the race “anxious.” She ran “dead last” 20 lengths off the lead. Mike Smith thought of pulling her up. She got stuck behind other horses. When Zenyatta moved outside, the crowd’s roar distracted her momentarily. Then she began her deep closer run, distinct, unique. Two strides past the finish line Zenyatta overtook Blame. Zenyatta, Secretariat of our time, deserves the Horse of the Year Award.
We all know Zenyatta is “The Horse of the Year”. Lets remind those who actually have a vote…The National Turf Writers Association. You can find them listed on their website. Let’s get busy!!
I too have signed the petition to make Zenyatta HOY. This year has been one of the best racing years in a very long time and a big part of that is because of Queen Zenyatta. She has reminded us how wonderful these equine atheletes can be. As horse of the year she would be a prime representative of these magnificent atheletes. Iam VERy proud to be fan, follower, and admirer of Zenyatta, MY 2010 Horse of the Year.
I signed the petition yesterday and sent it to the 30 friends we took to Hollywood Park for your last race in California as well as other friends and family.
Not since Secretariat and Ruffian have I been so thrilled by a horse. Zenyatta is royalty in every way and deserves HOY. She is the archetype of a racing champion. Whether she wins or not, she will be HOY for me. Love, Carla
I never had the pleasure of seeing Secretariat race. I have always watched the Derby etc. Zenyatta is right up there with Big Red. She has sparked the interest in horse racing like no one has, has won 19 out of 20 races, including beating the boys. Her last race showed it all as she past all and lacked a second before nosing out Blame. I pray she will not be denied once again as she is so deserving of HOY.
Regardless of how the voting ends up-in my eyes and in the eyes of thousands (if not millions) of Z fans she IS the horse of the year. She would have taken Blame if the race had been a few steps further I truly believe. I am so very glad to have witnessed her marvelous racing style. I am also glad that she is going to be retired and pass on her legacy. I am grateful her owners care about her enough to quit while she is sound and healthy and not just keep running her till she wore out. I will keep watching for news and updates on her. Good luck Z and may you have lovely, talented babies.
