We thought we’d share this video of Baby Z relaxing in the paddock with Mom and friends. 12Z and his buddies certainly enjoy growing up in their beautiful home.

    Zazu to undergo nuclear scan
    A nuclear scan test on Tuesday will determine whether the multiple graded stakes winner Zazu will stay in training this summer.
    Zazu was entered for Saturday’s $250,000 Vanity Handicap, but trainer John Sadler said on Thursday that she would be scratched after she was found to be “off behind” that morning.
    “She’s out,” Sadler said. “We did a preliminary diagnosis with X-rays, which were negative. We’ll do a nuclear scan on Tuesday.”

    Hello again Zsters and a special Dumpling thank you to Carol in Utah and Trina for answering my question about the new page system herein. First this and now the new Derby point system–well, if it keeps my aging brain (such as it is) active, I guess that is a good thing! Sometimes I just need to be pointed in the right direction and to have things
    S-P-E-L-L-E-D out for me! :-)
    Karen, that is a great article on Lava Man and 12 year old Hope. And how GREAT is it you got to see IHA and LM….makes me smile! (I’m sure you were smiling too.) I’ll try again to get into your video, but since I am not on FB perhaps that is the reason I could not access it? And yes, regarding your past story about IHA, how were you to know? I don’t think ANYone expected ANY of this Triple Crown action for the colt. Well, take a deep breath and “have another.” :-)

    We are having a Redneck Day today in Houston !!!

    Big Woodrow’s is hosting the Fourth Annual Redneck Games.

    I saw the sign this morning and was taking a picture of it, when
    the manager asked me what I was doing. I told him about our
    Redneck club. I sent a photo of the sign to TC, GP and Judy B.
    The sign is in the colors of the Texas flag, red, white and blue
    and has:

    TEXAS BORN CAJUN SOUL
    on it
    with
    REDNECK GAMES SATURDAY, JUNE 16, 2012 1PM TO 10PM

    The best parts of this story are, I have the sign used to advertise
    the event, one of the games is HORSESHOES IN THE TOILET,
    AND I WAS GREETED BY A GUY WITH ONLY A FEW FRONT TEETH.

    MAYBE THESE FOLKS WOULD LIKE TO BE MEMBERS TO THE TEXAS
    REDNECK CHAPTER, JUST LIKE THOSE SPECIAL KY MEMEBERS

    THEY WILL HAVE PHOTOS ON THEIR WEB SITE SO I WILL POST

    Dearest Z family,

    I saw poor Gus today. Skin and bones. It sickens me that the owner saw nothing wrong with his condition. Sad part is that he came to us from another shelter. I am going to work with him when he gets back into form, and another mare tomorrow so that we can maybe think about showing the mare in an open class in September. Exciting day tomorrow.

    Just watched the Vanity, and it dawned on me that through watching you, Great Queen, I developed an unrealisticly high winning expectation for other horses that enter and run in the same races you did, and watching the favorite lose made me realize how easy you made winning look. It’s going to be an interesting year. LOL

      They control grazing time when grass is high. Less time out.
      Horse also has to get used to the high grass and its
      content and then it is OK.

    Mikey won the Fleur De Le on Royal Delta, effortlessly and she was not rank
    and pulling on the first turn. He let her drift out find her stride.

    He used no horse today, so lots in the tank with this beautiful filly/mare.

      Mikey really loves the girls !!!!

      Gary Stevens said Royal Delta’s effortless win reminded him of Zenyatta.
      She was just galloping home, long beautiful effortless strides.

      He said Zenyatta is Zenyatta, but this filly is very talented and has a lot
      of room to grow. So excited he found a wonderful mount to ride for
      us to enjoy again.

        He had her nailed to the rail in the home stretch …no one was getting by on the inside today …no matter what…but I only a little tiny replay …

      Gary Steven’s was very funny when he talked to Bill Mott after Ron the Greek won.
      He said, “let me know if I am wrong, RTG is like riding a bicycle, have to keep pedaling
      right from the start. I could not have ridden him my last 10 years of riding. He is a
      young jockey’s horse”. Bill Mott then said that RTG does enough in his works to keep
      fit and is an average work horse.

      I really love when they talk about the different horses personalities.

    Hello, everyone!
    We are having the most gorgeous weather here in NC! Daytime temperatures in the low-mid 80’s and really low humidity! Extremely unusual for June, but I will take it quite happily. The regular hideously humid hot summer days are to return in time for the summer solstice — ICK! These last couple of days have actually been more fall-like, and that’s a good thing!

    I haven’t had the heart (or time) to come here this week, as work is really getting me down. My coworker, who had been there about 18 yrs., left, and most of her work fell on me. I am training someone new, but, they’re new…. In time, things should get better.

    Anyway, a set of jokes I found:
    The Redneck Kindle – a piece of glass over an open book.
    The Amish blow dryer – a flexible hose, you blow in one end, and point the other end at your hair.
    The Kardashian marriage certificate – it comes with a built-in timer.
    The Hooters job application – a piece of cardboard with two holes that you “just fill out”.
    — All attributed to a comedian named Carrot Top, “with his droopy drawers and hairdo styled by a monkey with an eggbeater”.

        • Thanks, Marshall. The new gal is learning quickly, but has a long way to go. In desperation, I was putting in OT (unpaid), but was told not to, a few days ago, so that makes it a bit easier, even if stuff “just piles up”.

        Sign, I was thinking along the same lines. Michael Matz was finally starting to smile and now he has to search for another jockey. I also feel badly for UR’s owner. She had a hard time coping with the trips in his earlier rides this year and finally, her faith in him was rewarded, and they made it to the winner’s circle.

        Sign. With any luck, Johnny V should be back to riding in about 6 weeks if all goes well with his rehab and there is nothing more to his injury than a broken collarbone. Get well soon, Mo and Thirsty’s Uncle Johnny.

        Rags was ridden to wins by Javier Castellano before he had a few bad luck trips. I think that his next possible race is not until the end of July. Rags will do okay.

        RIP Mr. Producer, another sad loss.

          I really like UR, he so much reminds me of Jethro (of course much better pedigree and looks, but just so large, strong and love his huge huge
          huge stride).

          Maybe JV will be able to ride him, however if he needs a pin may be longer
          recovery.

        • Sign. I love Rags too. I think that he has his confidence back and will go on to win in future races.

          We must hope for the best for Johnny V. His absence is a great loss. He races everywhere and wins. He even races in Canada in their big races for Todd Pletcher and Roger Attfield.

          Has anyone heard anything about Mario Gutierrez? Or Z’s Mario? Mario from Barn 55 was in recovery from an operation. Hope that he is okay.

        Sign I had heard that Goldikova was not that friendly. It is all the more amazing how refined and gentle Zenyatta was with everyone. I was impressed at the comments by Jerry Moss when 12Z was born about how much they appreciated her acceptance of socializing with people. As he said, a lot of horses will not let you get near them. This reminded me of Dynaformer. We still love the bad boys and girls however. Love you in particular always, Big D.

        • Yes, Freddy Head said he had to hug her outside her “box”. I love that word.
          Inside her box she was a terror, not sure she really tore things off the wall
          like Frankel, but he is a “boy”.

          Really like the “rock star behavior”. Love the cameras to protect him against himself.

          Jethro was fine in his stall, with his “clothes” on. But outside, no clothes.
          He would tear them off and get all tangled up like the night he impaled
          a tree branch in his neck when he spooked.

          The vet sutured his neck the next morning and he was happy as a clam
          in his stall with those sutures in his neck, like nothing every happened.

          TB have the best personalities.

        • Zenyatta is a very unusual TB.

          I am sure when she was fired up before a race she was not very affectionate though, just dancing like a wild woman, difficult for Mario to control.

      Thanks, Barbara, I appreciate it. Luckily I don’t hold my breath about the aid, I just try and remember there is only so much I can do each day.

      I did think about my dad yesterday, 8 yrs. gone. He was a true redneck, that’s for sure.
