We thought we’d share this video of Baby Z relaxing in the paddock with Mom and friends. 12Z and his buddies certainly enjoy growing up in their beautiful home.

        Actually Sandy,

        Team Zenyatta includes Lanes End and all of her team from Barn 55, with the
        Mosses at the helm.

        Currently Dottie handed the baton to The Mosses who handed it to Lanes End
        to “teach” us about the life of a broodmare and her offspring.

Anyway your RN jokes are great. Keep them coming, please. We need to keep getting fed in the absense of our GP Terry Crow. @ Terry, Hope your back soon. We miss you.

        My daughters turned me on to it. It is really fun and a fun thing esp. on rainy days.
        You can share w/ friends and see what they are doing/interests.
        My daughter is to be in a wedding and they have used it to share fun planning ideas. Also great for her creative/graphic side.
        Other daughter shares horse stuff w/ friends.
        Have fun,enjoy if you sign up. So many beautiful and interesting things to pin.
        It is really really cool.

    Baby Z looking so much like his mom. Thanks Lanes’ End for keeping us posted – must be a labor of love though; wish I could spend even an hour just hanging out at the paddocks with them as they graze while shooing away the pesky flies.

    Rapid Redux has update on Old Friends fb page….Gulch has him completely settled in and aclimated…appears first thing he learned is that Visitors=Carrots….so all visitors are greeted with open hooves…seems to have excellent manners

      I am really hoping to go see Rapid Redux some time this summer, as well as go back Ky Horse Park and see Cigar and of course all the horses there. Was hoping to make this trip in June, but quess what? June is half over and I still cant get away.

        How very much fun to go to the horse park, please give us a report about
        all the “guys” there. Go for Gin in there, too. I just watched him win the
        Derby on HRTV a few nights ago. Better late than never.

      when I visited Old Friends in May, we had carrots galore – thanks to the volunteers — and the horses were loving it !!

        That brings to me to a question. I am planning to peppermints and carrots with me. Is that necessary, or can I get them “at the gate”?

        • Any place where you can get peppermint and carrots “at the gate” must be a SPECIAL PLACE!!!!!!!
          Have fun when you visit. I want to go.

        • You are talking about Old Friends, right? They provide a large bucket of chunked carrots, but are grateful if you either (a) donate to their carrot fund or (b) bring some that they can chop up later.

          There are mints there, although you can bring your own if you want. I like to bring mints such as Altoids that don’t have to be unwrapped. You can also bring apples, pears, strawberries, etc. Not all the horses like mints, and not all like fruit. If you want to give a horse anything other than carrots ask your tour guide first.

          Commentator is the world’s biggest mint lover. Tinner’s Way likes them too, as does Special Ring. Creator has a special fondness for fruit. He likes regular pears, Asian pears, and strawberries. He also loves gingersnaps. Creator can be a little prickly, so let your tour guide determine whether you can feed him or not.

      I can watch those videos from this fabulous NY Times article again and again.
      The Prince, Z12, is one VERY FAST horse. I just wish to get the opinions from horse people about this. I asked Mike Smith on his facebook page about this. Any thoughts on this anyone? Thanks in advance.

    My birthday festivities were quite interesting! I had an awesome cake! It was mainly white with yellow icing with sunflowers in the corner!! It said “Happy Birthday Pati!” right smack in the center! It was vanilla ice cream for one layer and it say on a bed of chocolate cake! It was yummy! I didn’t have a huge party, and I only ended up inviting my closest friends, which was about 6 people. I prefer small parties to huge ones, I like being able to talk to individuals, and not run from person to person, desperate to get to everyone before the party ends or they leave. I don’t do it for the gifts either. I was happy they even came. It started storming so we took the ole’ fashion route and played board games! It was fun!

    I was fortunate enough to get a gift card to Barnes and Noble, which I spent on a book about horse conformation, and one about taking the “wall street” approach to handicapping, but if I handicap like wall street is working right now, I will starve. :-P I got a 25 dollar visa gift card and I haven’t decided on what I am going to spend it on. I might just save it like I did with the money from my grandparents for BC. I want to make sure I don’t spend it frivolously and end up with nothing for the trip of a lifetime to SA to meet you guys!

    I jumped with Gus today! We did awesome. For an ole’ man of 25, he is quite the mover! He’s a fine sports car, just an older model. We had to start new routines, so we worked on a constant speed today and counting te strides between jumps. I then hosed him off really well with cool water after a scorcher like today, and gave him a big carrot! He doesn’t actually ever eat them. He just chews and lets the pieces fall out of his
    mouth to the floor. I think he enjoys tasting them as opposed to eating them.

    Thanks so much for the update. I just love seeing anything new about Zenyatta and Baby Z. It is so sad that I live so far away from all that is happening with mother and child. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to be content with your generous posts. Much love to all those who love Z and Baby Z as much as I do.

    @Pati–sounds like you had an awesome birthday. I agree with you about large parties versus small. Won’t that be fun if you get to come to SA?
    Gus is the man! Not many people can say that their horse is older than they are. BTW, if you could save thoses pieces, Money would be glad to help him out on the carrots. LOL!

    Thanks to all of Zenyatta’s connections, for continuing to allow us access to the gorgeous girl and her baby boy. Miss her so much.
    She is so beautiful and healthy looking and the boy is getting so big. What a man he will be one day. Thanks Lane’s End for taking such good care of Z and Z12 and all others. Thank You.
    Doesn’t look like I will get to CA for the BC this year. Hopefully for the next one in CA.

    Hi….am I nuts? I only see one “friend” In the video….presumably little spooky minister. Are there other babies somewhere in the background? I see only three horses.

      There’s just four horses in total there. It’s ashame that Zenny couldn’t keep her first pregnancy and stay with her buddies. And then she couldn’t stay with her other buddy as she delayed in giving birth. It doesn’t seem like Zenny is really close with Spooky Minister.

        Well, if she had, then we’d have a different baby Z12. We’ll never know what that one would have been like, but I kind of like the current edition.

        It may be that Spooky and Zenyatta don’t seem as close as Z and TT were, simply because they have to pay attention to their colts. Once you have kids, your social life goes out the window… :-)

          Of Zenny, as a bachelorette, she is very animated
          etc…. As she did on the track, she is taking her
          Current job seriously and is very focused on baby and
          Remember she is eating for two.

        There has to be more than just Zenny, Z12, Spooky Minster, and SM12. If you look at the video the other foal has just a star and if you go to the photos section and the second picture the other foal has a blaze so they have moved her in with at least one other mare and foal.

      And one foal yet, but the said they will .

        • The TTimes article broke down the last 12winners by “points”….War Emblem had Zero ….of these 12….at least 4-5 would never have made the field… for trainers who work their horses up to a big race…this is a disaster…also for fillies…Winning Colors will be the last …almost eliminates any chance a filly might have..going to do more reading but have looked at bloodhorse drf and TTimes…so far

    THANK YOU Team Z and LE for more wonderful pictures and videos! Zenyatta looks like she gave birth to twins… both colts look remarkably alike with their dark bay coloring, even down to the white spot on their foreheads. Looks like the other youngster likes to hang around with Zenny and Z12 as there’s no sign of his mom in any of the pictures I’ve seen. Noticing that Z12 doesn’t have to bend his knees to reach the grass anymore.
