Happy Friday!
We close off a quiet week with a few fun photos, courtesy of Alys. Zenyatta and her boys are delighting in the final days of spring. Break out the fly masks, here come the dog days of summer. As you can see, Coz has found a new way to keep himself entertained, it’s called a Jolly Ball. The farm likes to give them to horses that like to stay busy. Coz loves his!
Best of luck to all those participating in the Belmont Stakes. Have a great weekend.
Enjoy!

“The Versailles for Thoroughbreds” appeared in today’s Wall Street Journal. Zenyatta is the only mare mentioned. Features some of the amenities.

Great pictures of the Queen’s realm. They may mention all the studs but we know it’s really all about Zenyatta…as it should be.

@The Kennedys: WOW! I just really love the innovative layout of the Three Chimneys stallion barns! How clever. Yep, that’s how I’ll build mine – – – let me just go cash this winning lotto ticket. Oh drat. Where’d I put that thing? :-)

Thank you Kennedy’s! I just love the Kentucky Horse Farms. I need to get back there, especially back to Lane’s End!

I’m surprised he’s wearing a halter while in a stall.
andrea
Why?
LauraJ (Cincinnati, OH)
They’ve got hundreds of horses there, all of whom have to be moved daily. They don’t have time to take halters off and put them on. Plus, if there is an emergency that, god forbid, necessitates moving the horses quickly, the halter is already on. And while the horse is in the filed, the halter serves as ID. The halters are leather. They will break if they somehow get hung up.
Jill
Best part about leather – it breaks, just ask my horse – he’s gone through plenty of leather halters! lol

Lane’s End thank you for the video and wonderful pictures. Coz looks like he is having a grand time playing with his ball. He is so handsome, looks like his mother.
13z is so cute also. Love them all so much.

Another series of gorgeous pictures of Zenny and 13Z. Her dabbles even have dapples. She is magnificient. And Coz! What a charmer. He has the good looks and playfulness of his mom…it’s great to be able to keep updated on this family. Thanks to LE and the Mosses who continue to be so generous with us.

@ Kennedys: Loved your comment!
This has to be the cutest video ever! I’m so glad to see Coz and he really does look so much like a young Zenny, except he’s handsome, of course. And the days of summer lie ahead for Zenny and the Little Redhead. I had been wondering about Coz and whether he’d gone to the Mayberry’s yet, so it was great to be kept in touch.
For Animal Kingdom fans, here’s today’s (June 7) most recent video of “our boy’s” prep for Royal Ascot. Enjoy!

Thank You soo much. I’m sitting on pins and needles. Yes prayers so hard for him to stay safe most of all.
This was a beautiful video. Thanks Again

Zenny is clearly thriving and enjoying the good life at LE. I swear, I’ve never seen such dabbles. And her boys…well, 13Z looks like a little spitfire and Coz resembles his mom more every day. The video is priceless…this site continues to be the happiest place in the internet. THANKS to all who keep us updated on the Z family. They are national treasures!
Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
Thank you team so much!! I’ve been waiting for a update on CoZ (my handsome man) and this is just hysterical…….he is just adorable, I could watch him all day. And that beautiful redhead has a new face……the fuzz is gone, I’m trying to figure out what color that is underneath. If you ever need help there at LE let me know I’ll come flying down there, I be glad to just spend the day picking up his ball for him, ha, ha. hugs

Sue…I’ll bet that line to do ball pick up duty would be a line long!

Thank you Alys and Team Z. Coz is sure enjoying his jolly ball just like a kid. I wish I could play ball with him but I may get a black eye or worse a broken nose! haha I was so happy to see a new pic of Coz. He is so charming and of course I love the others with Z and 13z!!! Who is there to pick up the jolly ball when he drops it outside his stall? Does he play with it outside? Have a wonderful Belmont week-end too.

Great photos! Thanks again for sharing.
So the boys of summer will be wearing fly masks instead of catcher mask.
Wonder how Coz would do at soccer/football?

As always, thank you Lane’s End for sharing with! We are truly lucky that you haven’t forgotten us as Coz has grown and Zenyatta has continued with “motherhood”.
Does anyone know when Coz will be leaving LE for training? And where he might be going?
LauraJ (Cincinnati, OH)
Just guessing but:
–Probably late fall (October or November)
–Most likely to the Mayberry’s trainng farm in Ocala FL where Zenyatta received her initial training.

dear team Z thank you so much for looking after our queen and her young princes so well. a delightful video of coz who resembles his mother more and more each day Z as always looks a beautifu; mother! hugs sheena keeping in my thoughts and prayers the duke of Edinburgh recovering after exploratory surgery God bless

I wonder who Zenny is in foal to now. Surely they have bred her by now if they are going to this year. It’s already June so I’m pretty sure she has been bred I would just like to know to who. Maybe the Mosses are going to stop telling her fans are they might tell us soon. I love all of them anyway.
Diana Stuart - Dating Pool
Rita: With Little Red, they didn’t tell us until Zenny had her 60-day in foal check. I think they wanted to be sure before they told everyone so we wouldn’t get all hysterical. Who? Us? Nah! LOL

Nice allowance score for Barbaro’s Bro, MARGANO, at Pimlico
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hcGvWdF2ko
Keta Note: This is a lttle dark because of weather. Nice stretch run & win!
Diana Stuart - YAY Margano!
It was Barbaro that got me back to following racing, so of course I follow his brothers, and La Ville Rouge, and all of Big D’s kids.
I was tickled to get a Virtual Stable announcement for Margano’s win today. It is interesting that this “turf” horse did so well on the dirt when the race was moved because of wet conditions.
Trivia note: La Ville Rouge produced Holy Ground, by Saint Ballado. Holy Ground, hopefully is still okay in South America, but his son Eric The Ram races in SoCal. He doesn’t do all that well. He raced yesterday and came in last of 6, but he’s “kin” so I always pull for him.

Aaron Gryder up for Pancha and Puype. 7-1 at Belmont.

More on the amazing win by Calidoscopio
Racing Stats & Info
Calidoscopio (ARG) at age 10 is now the oldest winner of the Brooklyn
that was first run in 1887. Congrats to trainer Mike Puype!
The Downey Profile
Calidoscopio’s went in 2:31.64, a little slower than Commendable’s Belmont win in 2000, and almost exactly the same as Drosselmeyer’s time.
Claire Novak The Blood-Horse
The Equibase guys at Belmont just told me 10-year-old Calidoscopio was 22 lengths back at the half mile. Incredible

And Keta, in the MUD….It has been raining here all day on the East Coast! A very sloppy track. He is a Fabulous Race Horse!
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Alex and Z Fans:
I listened to the live audio from Belmont today. The track was like a lake. Tom Durkin, track announcer, referred to the first race as “the first Regatta of the Day”. They’re forecasting more rain tonight, so looks like the same kind of surface for tomorrow. Love and Hugs, JB

JB.
I loved listening to him yesterday and describing the track.
It was an exciting day of racing on the mud. Race 2 w/ Coaltown really made a sursprise win!!!!! Such great work w/ all involved yesterday and any sloppy day.
Diana Stuart - YAY Calidoscopio!
Now I think the honorable thing to do would be to give him a nice retirement to a second career. He has no more to prove.

Keta. Beautiful. It’s a repeat of the Breeders Cup, but maybe even farther back. He obviously loves to run. Incredible and inspiring.

Dear Keta,
That was some race!! The Brooklyn Handicap was SO exciting — talk about a come from behind win. WOW!!!! Caleidoscopio (sp?) was stunning! This 10 year old beauty has still got it, and his jockey is fantastic, too. Unbelievable win — reminds me of those incredible closing moves of our dear girl, Z.
I believe I heard them say that this was only the second time that a 10 year-old has won a graded stakes race — the other winner was last year’s Musketier. YAY!!
Cheers!

Zenyatta and red prince are looking spectacular.
Many thanks to Alys, Lane’s End, Team Z for always thinking of us and letting us in on their lives.
Big day of racing ahead. Good night to all.
