My husband & I visit as many rescue shelters as we can, always go to their open houses. contribute what we can & always take raffle tickets. Bless you & your friends, so nice people like you are in this world. Love, Christine

The death has been announced of legendary Grand National winning jockey Brian Fletcher at the age of 69yrs.His name will always be associated with the immortal Red Rum.He rode him to his 73′ and 74’wins but fell out with Ginger McCain and it was Tommy Stack who rode Red to the historic 3rd win in 77’Brian started with Denys Smith and at 19 got the ride on Red Alligator in the now infamous 67’National.They got 3rd behind shock winner Foinavon but a year later there was no mistake and the pair won by 20 lengths.Brian never really got the recognition he deserved. It was no mean feat to win the National 3 times back in the day.He lived now in my county Carmarthenshire breeding horses.Red will be there to meet you and show you the way home.RIP always Brian we will always remember you.Love Sheena

If we are not happy, it is because no one has given us permission to be. The hardships and stresses of those who went before us make us wonder if we have a right to do better. Do we have permission to outlive, outdo, outwork all those who went before us? Have we given our children permission to be stronger, better, and more intelligent than we are? The Cherokees have a word for it, adahnehdi, meaning the gift. Or have we told them to adhere to their roots instead of respecting them? Have we made them caretakers, or have we set them free to be strong builders on firm foundations? Permission is hard to come by when we wait and wait for someone to tell us we have done well, that we have earned the right to be mature, respected adults. No, we give ourselves permission to grow, to live long and well, to prosper and be in good health.
I can tell my children that the way to get honor is to go to work and be good men and women.

Dear Kathy.Great devotional.A pretty cold day here but no snow.Everyone is laughing how London is able to cope with 1/2 in of snow! There is a tidal surge on the east coast though maybe Hovis training???Take a look at Duke’s rescue and surgery he was found outside a local hospital as if he knew he needed help.We get to see a lot more of Viktor now a black dog went to live in Germany. It seems no one cares for black dogs and cats these days racism works both ways!
Felix is staying snuggled up indoors today snow in Huddersfield.Kempton was discussed in the house of commons yesterday.Alastair Down(of all people)and Shorty support the move lots of criticism for Alastair.I know we all have to move on in life but the past makes us who we are and these tracks are historical.Something you cannot buy.Pauline of horse racing nostalgia has put a list of 100 horses up very, very difficult to chose one but I had to go for Arkle Dessie is in the lead at the moment he was hugely popular in the UK more so than Kauto.Michael’s girls are brighter this morning he was upset last night because they were so groggy and uncomfortable.Pebbles had trouble coming around after the op.
Zoe had a good day with Widget very playful and Mango took a walk around the camp in her stroller with her ranger hat on.Judy and Nay got their boots back they are friendly with the new owners.
Mother Theresa is the only G7 leader going to Davos next week.No parties for her like her predecessors Call me Dave and Call me Tone. She is there to work.Evie is having trouble in describing some of the words used in reference to the Donald with her boy Ossie.GS was trending on twitter last night.Yet more tears from Joe Biden .Oh,deary me!Did I tell you Beavers are being reintroduced back into South Wales? The first for over 500yrs.The location is being kept secret and the there is talk of Lynx at Keilder forest.Of course wild boar are already back here.Have a great Friday is there a holiday with you this weekend?Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXOXO

Dear Sheena,
Had to go in for a blood test this morning so I’m late getting on here. Today was a good day to go in. I was first in line and was out of there fast! London and the 1/2 ” of snow…funny! I’ll bet the tidal wave was indeed due to Hovis! lol Yes, I will look for Duke. He’s a smarty! Felix is smart to snuggle up. You’re right that the tracks have historical importance. Very sad to lose them. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for Arkle! I hope Michael’s girls recover quickly.Zoe had great fun with Widget. Wasn’t he cute playing like a kitty with Zoe’s daddy?I’ll have to look for the pic of Mango in her ranger’s hat! Mother Theresa has a very strong work ethic. Good for her! I’m sure many people will have difficulty describing words in reference to Donald with their kids! Joe Biden was very touched about his Medal of Freedom. Beavers? I love them! We have them in the mountains. Years ago I watched them building their dam. Fascinating creatures! TGIF and enjoy the weekend ahead. Yes, it is a long weekend for many of us. 3 glorious days! YAY!!! Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

How Smart Are Horses?
NPR January 12, 2017
Dogs are celebrated everywhere these days for the clever things they and their brains can do, and the science of dog cognition continues to soar in popularity.
As a cat person, I can’t help but add that cats, too, show off their savviness for science.
Now, some cognitive scientists are asking about another domesticated animal companion that’s been comparatively neglected: horses.

Dear BGG,
Thanks for the link. This is a very interesting study. I think all species have devised a system of communication which obviously works within their species but can also work with others. The other must be sensitive enough and receptive. Humans are not the only intelligent animals — there is much that we can learn from our cousins. :-)

RIP Lord Snowdon former husband of HRH Princess Margaret who has died peacefully aged 86yrs,He was last seen in public in October with his 2nd wife(although separated)Lucy. He had 2 children David Viscount Linley and Lady Sarah Chatto. He also had a daughter Frances from his marriage to Lucy and he fathered a son Jasper when he was 68.He kept on good terms with the Royal family mostly because of his discretion.Princess Margaret should have been allowed to marry the love of her life Group Captain Peter Townsend but she put duty before her happiness and suffered the consequences. But they both produced 2 wonderful children who have happy marriages unlike the Queen’sfamily. That will be their legacy. Her Majesty has been informed but hasn’t commented.

January 14 Cherokee Devotional
What we take for granted someone else thinks is beautiful. What we want to get rid of is someone else’s treasure. Sometimes we stand so close to something dear that we cannot see that it is dear. Our lack of awareness robs us of what we assume is ours forever. We have many eyes, but most are closed or glazed over. They eyes of the mind and spirit perceive far more than our physical eyes will ever see. The eyes of our hearing detect sound but also feelings and attitude-and the music of the spheres. There is a word in the Cherokee language, agowhtvhdi, which means sight. When we touch something we not only feel but we also see the gentleness or the harshness, the depths and the heights. No, we are never blind except when we close ourselves off and deny the very Spirit of Life.
Give heed, my child, lift up your eyes, behold the One who has brought you life.

Judy B,
Isabella Sings is running in the 6th at Gulfstream today. According to Todd after this she is on her way to the breeding shed.
Can’t remember who was a big fan of Night Prowler but he is running in the 10th at Gulfstream. Sorry that I can’t remember who it was.
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee:
Godspeed to lovely Isabella and Night Prowler. You’re thinking of our Peggy. NP is one of her favorites. Love and Hugs, JB
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee:
Here’s Isabella’s replay. She ran her heart out. Don’t really understand why that jockey pushed her at that pace. The half and three quarter fractions were pretty fast. Poor baby had nothing left and finished 3rd. Wishing her a happy, healthy life as a Mama. Always lover her and her Daddy.
Wasn’t able to get the replay of the 10th race yet, but I did see the Quick Results and Night Prowler was not in the money. Won by a $32.00 longshot, Flatlined. Hope he’s OK. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Kathy.Sometimes I think the blind see more than we do.The storms were not as bad as expected just like the snow!Better to be safe than sorry though. Some good racing over here today getting more used to the new presenters now.Dessie came tops in the poll on Horse racing nostalgia FB.He was a huge favourite in the UK.I didn’t get to see his last race where he fell(Christmas 91′) it was the first one without my father and I had no hwyl to watch. They commented the whole nation would have been in mourning if something had happened to him .He got the biggest cheer passing the stands on his own.He was not going to be denied his last moment of glory.Such different connections to Kauto. He really enjoyed his retirement.
Mother Theresa met the NZ Prime Minister yesterday looking very smart in a light coloured jacket and red dress.Lots of coverage of your big day on our telly next week.I know Kay Burley of Sky News will be there so I won’t be watching! She drives me up the wall.Hope you have a great weekend.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXOXO
