Looking forward to Zenyattas baby in 2017! Hope she is bred back. Any chance of American Pharoah as a sire? Would be awesome. The world’s greatest mare ever in the history of the world and the only living triple crown/grand slam winner alive. Would be a colt unlike any other ever born. A colt to be a foundation sire for a new generation of race horse. Unbelievable. In fact that should be his name, a word so associated with and descriptive of Zenyatta herself.

Happy Belated Birthday to all registered thoroughbreds everywhere. that especially includes Cozmic One and Ziconic. Even though another year old is incorrect chronologically I understand this is how it works in the world of such horses as these. Also, I’m rapidly approaching the fingers crossed part and like all other Zsters, I am eagerly awaiting the appearance of Z17 in April or May. Best Wishes to Team Z and anyone and everyone who lives in the realm of Queen Z.

When we last saw Essie she had been ashen and without the strength we see in her now. Now she sits flat on the ground, legs straight out in front, and reeds tumble across her knees and lie around her. Nimble fingers seek the perfect one to start a basket. Essie is close to our hearts. She has our Grandmother’s name. Her reticence does not inspire idle talk, so we ask what happened to change her. With a quick glance, she says, “God heal.” “Is it possible? So quickly and completely?” Hesitantly, she asks, “You got fast oven?” I say I do. “What make it work?” Why, microwaves-energy. They change the molecules, the structure of the bread from cold to hot.” Seconds pass. She says, almost too softly, “Prayer energy. Make me well.”
I love a people who have always made me welcome to the best they had…who are honest without laws…who never take the name of God in vain…who worship God without a Bible…and I believe God loves them too.

Dear Kathy,
George Catlin must have had the greatest body of artwork about the Native American people. His colors are vibrant, The calm assurance of the person in each portrait makes me sense I am ‘there’ in that moment sharing in their honesty. “Noble” is the only word I can think of when I look into the eyes and study the steadiness and confidence of who each person was and their commitment to the life they were living.
Thank you for posting this tonight. A good way to start the new year.

Dear Kathy.Welcome back and a Happy Ne Year to you.I hope you enjoyed the weekend. We had a fantastic firework display in London this year and Knighthoods for Andy,Mo. Lee and our very own Bryn Terfel.Charlotte got a CBE but where was Valegro’s knighthood I ask myself??Andy says he doesn’t want to use the title so why accept it then.Too young in my opinion. It seems North Korea have a nuclear bomb ready for the US according to Larry. He said on New Year’s Eve this time last year Dave was my butler,Donald was a clown,Brexit wasn’t even a word and Palmerston was called Barry. It’s pretty cold over here this week and Her Majesty is still recovering from her cold.No signs of Will and Kate visiting.I cannot wait to see the other horses chosen for the stamps in april surely Red Rum will be one of the NH.I am not sure whether they will all British horses given it’s the Royal mail.
I have just posted a video of Sir Henry talking about Frankel after he retired his voice is barely a whisper. He is sorely missed over here a genius with horses and he saved the best til last.
Felix got a CBE(Cat of the British Empire)from the treasury mog.Felix went all around the world on New year’s eve sending best wishes.Zoe got a new toy from her auntie.Dolly looked splendid in her new dress for 2017.Not much news from Fubu the last few weeks again.
This year sees 100 yrs since Passchendaele and there will be commemorations. There were very many casualties and it will always be remembered for the rain and mud .
I was watching a fascinating docu last night about the ‘IT’girl Clara Bow just like the modern celebs she had her demons too she lived in Culver City at the end of her days.Hope you enjoy your day we shall have to turtle today instead.Loved the photo of the guys getting icees from Marty’s Mart,Mr Fibbs’big day is getting closer.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
Kathy
Dewar Sheena,
Thanks so much! We had a very nice time. It was very cold and rainy, but we enjoyed getting away. I’m sure the fireworks in London were outstanding. Didn’t see them, but they did show the fireworks in Australia. They were really spectacular. Valegro certainly deserved a knighthood. He was the most important member of that team! Yes, Kim in North Korea is very worrisome for us. Her Majesty has been down a very long time with this bad cold. Will and Kate really should be visiting her. Keep us posted on the horses chosen for the stamps! I will look for Sir Henry’s video. Congratulations to Felix! That’s very impressive. Zoe and her gator look very happy. The lobster likes the gator, too! I haven’t visited Dolly in a while. Will look for the pic of her new dress. Sad to look back on events in history where many perished. I remember hearing about Clara Bow. Culver City…one of the suburbs of LA. Maybe we can start getting back to normal today. I will turtle as much as possible! Haven’t seen the photo of guys getting icees from Marty’s Mart. Will look for it! I imagine Fibbs is being fitted for his tuxedo for the Inaugural Balls. Have a great day. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXOXOXO

Quarantine Has Gun Runner’s Pegasus Hopes in Jeopardy
By Alicia Wincze-Hughes, The Blood-Horse 01/03/2017
The good news for fans of grade I winner Gun Runner is that the son of Candy Ride is officially targeting the $12 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1), Winchell Thoroughbreds manager David Fiske confirmed Jan. 3
The bad news is that logistics, not form, is the biggest threat to the chestnut colt’s potential participation in the world’s richest test at Gulfstream Park Jan. 28.
Since his breakout victory over older foes in the Nov. 25 Clark Handicap (G1) at Churchill Downs, Gun Runner has been at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots with trainer Steve Asmussen’s string preparing for his 4-year-old debut. With the entire Fair Grounds backstretch currently under quarantine due to an EHV-1 outbreak, no horses are permitted to ship in or out of the track—an issue that could complicate both potential deals with shareholders to get Gun Runner into the Pegasus and his ability to arrive in South Florida in time for the race.

Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear BGG:
Was reading about the outbreak at Fair Grounds and wondering what horses might be there. Hope the worse part of it is over and that Gun Runner and all the other horses will be safe.
This is a serious and contagious illness, so I think precautions are very justified. More concerned about keeping him and other horses safe. Love and Hugs, JB
Ann NC
Praying for everyone there.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Hoping and praying that they can get this under control so that more horses will not be infected — and that it happens quickly. This is a horrible illness.
Please keep GR and all horses safe. Amen.

January 4 Cherokee Devotional
To the Cherokee, worry is the dalala, the woodpecker, pecking away on the roof. It is easy to understand that even new wood cannot bear such hammering without giving way. Imagine what would happen to a roof which has already been through storms and many hot summers. But how do we handle this woodpecker called worry? By seeing it for what it is-a bird that causes damage. We can shout and scare it away for awhile, but as soon as we drop our guard it is back again. Worry did not crash in suddenly. It entered our lives little by little, so that we did not notice. Surely it will go away, but it takes its toll so gradually that we grow accustomed to it-thinking it is just a normal part of living. When we hear worry rapping on the roof, we can ask ourselves, what have we talked about? What have we heard or dwelled on that distresses us?

Dear Kathy. It feels a little milder today over here today. We all have worries Boo had posted(or human rather) that 2016 had been a difficult year.I had to tell it her had been no more difficult than any other year full of sadness and happiness and this year would be the same.Another liberal methinks!I hear Bill and Hillary are attending the inauguration!Huw and Nigel are going over too and Rebecca Ferguson has been invited to sing.I was watching the live video of the bald eagle last night on the Daily Mail FB.
Larry is taking over as UK ambassador to the EU after Sir Ivan’s resignation. There was a video of Felix waiting for her favourite train the 6.40am.I just cannot understand why people do not talk to animals I spoke to Katie all the time,Urban Sea is no 46 on the list of fillies/mares.We won’t hear who the other horses are on the stamps until near april.Dessie’s stamp is beautiful and costs £1.33p.I had quite forgotten how ill he was in 92′ only a 10% chance of survival.A horse called aptly named Tight Sqeeze fell down a bank into a ditch a rescue team plus the Fire Brigade got her out and she was none the worse She lives with her owner/breeder in Banbury and is20 now,A sad story on Zoe about Miss Brenda and her dog concerning the vets bills and she cares for her elderly mum too.Alessandra went out to Turkey over Christmas and met Alaa on the border he is going to build a new bigger sanctuary and has got some puppies. She was very near to the terrorist attack in Istanbul on New Years Eve but has arrived home now.I have no idea what happened to Mr No Ears I can’ t find anything on FB now.Hope you have a good day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
I had missed Boo’s (human’s) comment about 2016 being difficult. As you say, ALL years have their ups and downs. Yes, I heard that all the past presidents except for George H.W. Bush will be there. He’s in his 90’s and not doing well. Much excitement over the bald eagles! Larry will be a fine ambassador. Felix is an early bird! I hear you about talking to animals. I talk to mine all the time…including my sweet Holly in heaven! Would love to see those stamps honoring horses! I’ll have to look for images. Tight Squeeze was lucky! That was a very sad story on Zoe about Miss Brenda and her dog. I must say though, it would never occur to me to ask complete strangers to help with a bill…Alessandra must be so happy to be home! Good for Alaa and his bigger sanctuary. That’s very worrisome about Mr No Ears. You have a good day as well. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

Neolithic to Represent Starlight in Pegasus
By BloodHorse Staff January 4, 2017
Starlight Racing will be represented by Neolithic in the upcoming $12 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1), scheduled to be held for the first time Jan. 28 at Gulfstream Park.
Trained by Todd Pletcher, the dark bay colt is a son of former Starlight Racing color bearer Harlan’s Holiday, and has won two of his seven starts. After finishing a strong second in the Discovery Stakes (G3) in November, he came back to romp by nine lengths in an allowance race at Gulfstream in December. Since that race, he has clocked a bullet workout Dec. 31 at Palm Beach Downs (four furlongs in :48 3/5).
