Does anyone know how we might be able to contact other people on the blog directly?
There are some people that I would like to email back & forth with, but I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings by not including them.
Before anyone suggests Facebook, I don’t do Facebook.
Thank you.

Dear Donna Z:
Z’s website team has email addresses of every Z’ster who has registered for contests, etc., but I don’t think they would give them out. You could try. Love and Hugs, JB

If worsens, Chrome will bel X-rayed in morning. Otherwise, will get on plane as scheduled at 9 am and see Dr. Larry Bramlage in Ky. (cont)

Dear Celeste and Z Fans:
Celeste, after reading the article you posted on Chromie, just hope this is not a serious injury. Have to say, these beloved beings are not machines. They are flesh, bones, ligaments and muscle just like us.
This beautiful boy has raced from April 2013 to today at ten different race tracks, with very little time off, and he always brought stamina, courage and a huge will and heart to race day; a true Warrior. Maybe his beautiful body has had enough, He’s done all that’s been asked of him and more than most, continuing to race one more time today, in his sixth year.
Hope this is just a minor problem that can be corrected easily and that he has a long, happy, healthy life just being a horse. He certainly has done his part for the Sport.
Love and Hugs, JB
Celeste/Massachusetts
Judy,
I totally agree with you!
Sally Blank (cherishes Z and her foals)
Celeste and Judy B.; Thank you for the article and Judy your response. I am thinking that Chrome was trying to tell Victor something when he acted up entering the gate. My heart just dropped when into the race I could see that Chrome was not himself. I only wanted to see a win for Chrome, only Chrome
Winner of Kentucky Derby, Preakness, Dubai, racing in 20 some other races was just not good enough for CC. Oh, just another race to see how far CC could go.
He is a beautiful exciting Champion for sure. In fact I have called Chrome my male Zenyatta!! I pray that this is an easy fix or just a short healing period for my boy so he can retire to the nice green pastures of Kentucky and meet a lot of Valentines soon.
On face book, some one stated with CC’s crooked legs it was time that something like this would happen. I thought, what crooked legs!! Any one notice crooked legs?? I did not wish to start a war so I did not reply the way I would have otherwise done.
Please keep Z’sters informed about Chrome. Thanks so much
Love n hugs,
Sally B

I too don’t think Chromes legs are crooked at all. Very fine looking actually. Love and Hugs, JB

Remembering the great Barbaro today. We lost him 9 years ago to the day. He won every race he finished. He was such a fighter, so beautiful, so intelligent. RIP, beautiful boy. We will never forget you…

Kathy,
I loved Barbaro too. I was so worried when they reloaded him in the Preakness and then the accident. So sad. He was such an amazing horse. I think of him often.

New life comes in only as we turn loose of the old. There must be a place for what we want or need. If there is not a place prepared, the new circumstances flow on by-and we are left with the same things we have always had. If we think we cannot bear to part with an old way of life, we are not ready to accept anything new. Instead we can make a personal decision, a firm commitment, to forget what is behind and push forward to what is ahead. Our mental and spiritual attitudes make room for new life when we set them in motion with our words. Nothing will overtake us, not love, not prosperity, not peace and joy-until we make a place for them and ask them to come in. Hope, alone, does not do it, but a firm decision for a new life will clear the way.
My people, before the white man came you were happy. You had many buffalo to eat and tall grass for your ponies-you could come and go like the wind.

Barbaro was my favorite boy and I still miss him… he died 10 years ago today, not 9, on Jan. 29, 2007 (he was the 2006 Kentucky Derby winner and his injury happened at the 2006 Preakness).

Dear Janie,
Absolutely right…I’m still back in 2016, I guess. Thanks. I will never forget him. Such a champion and such a fighter…

Go safely California Chrome. Thanks for all the good times. Think the old guy, Prayer For Relief, came out okay and won $250,000. At least he was not last.
I was happy to see the race televised on a major network but do wish they would talk more about all the horses and not spend so much time interviewing or talking to celebs and people who know nothing about horse racing. I really don’t care what they are wearing.

Yesterday they came to Cheltenham in the hope of celebrating a new champion but tears flowed freely in an atmosphere of despair as an old champion was carried out upon his shield,a victim of his own indefatigable will to win.Yes,there has been criticism but as we all sadly know horses can be in danger even in their paddock. As a jumps fan Many Clouds sad demise will never stop me loving the sport or the danger to both man and beast.Instead I prefer to celebrate the life of this wonderful chaser who in the end gave his life for the sport we love and will always be remembered for one of the finest wins of his career in beating the young pretender Thistlecrack. He went out on a high and he wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.Sleep tight dear boy You will always remain in our heartsX

Huge congratulations to 18 time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer who beat Rafael Nadal out in Melbourne earlier today in 5 sets 6-4 3-6 6-1 3-6 6-3.What does it say about the youngsters when Roger and Serena at 35 years of age are the champions?Age is just a number.Roll on Wimbledon!

Sheena, funny; I had the match on while I came here. So after I saw your post I already knew who won! ha ha But, I did not tell my hubby so he could really do the nail biting.
I never saw Federer as elated as at this match!! Some times one just has to try one more time for yourself and he couldn’t be more happier. Wow!

Chrome travels to Kentucky today according to Taylor made. His injury is minor and will not stop him covering mares.
Rich Ricci said a decision will be made about Annie Power in the next couple of weeks and Faugheen looks set to go for the Champion Hurdle despite his little setback.
Sally Blank (cherishes Z and her foals)
Sheena; In an article Taylor said If he can walk then he can cover. I did not like that for some reason. ex. if he can walk, who cares how his leg feels, we have money to make with him. Perhaps I am taking it too personal as I love Chrome.

Thank you Jane and Sally for your posts concerning Barbaro. It seems his brother Nicanor had his first winner named Nicamore who won today at Laurel Park. Unfortunately, since he has been gelded, I hope he has a long successful racing career. By the way, has anybody heard anything about Cozmic One? I read yesterday that Ziconic had yet another workout so here’s hoping he will be running and winning soon. Last but not least, I have to send out best wishes to California Chrome. I too hope his injury isn’t a bad one and that he is as successful in his new career as he was in his old one.

Max
Hope that Chrome does well in retirement. Concern has been expressed that the owners ought to give him some extended let down time. He’s been wound really tight for his races. A few months of rest would do him some good rather than straight into stud duties in just two weeks.
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Kathy and Max:
I agree totally. I think some R & R would be the best for him. He absolutely deserves the best. Love and Hugs, JB
sheena.davies(wales)
I heard someone say if he could stand he was fine to cover mares. The swelling in his knee was very visible in a video I watched. There will be a strain on his leg when covering.
Max
It’s fine if he can stand? Strange. Most horses get a few months of rest before starting stud duties. A horse at his elite racing calibre usually needs to gear down for a longer period than two weeks. Juddmonte gave months of rest to Frankel. Zenyatta got the same. Chromie has more than earned some relaxation.
Sally Blank (cherishes Z and her foals)
Max, I guess it is all about money. Kind of sad. Chrome does deserve a bit of vacation.
hugs, Sally B

Judy, do you remember me telling you about the picture of Gunnevera that they were just walking him over at Saratogo. The one with his big 4 on the blanket and in front of the white fense. His physique just gave me chills so reminded me of Secretariats walkover in one of the triple crown races.
