Happy Tuesday!
Today is a very special one, as Zenyatta and 13Z are celebrating their shared birthday. The Queen turns ten today, and her little one is now a whole year old. It feels like yesterday that we were awaiting his arrival at Lane’s End.
The staff at Lane’s End kicked off the party this morning with cakes, cupcakes and stacks of cards from all of you. Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Reminder: Today is the last day to enter your guess for 14Z’s birthday! Enter here.

Dear Kathy. My Mum always used to think why no one tried to save Our Lord, that’s all I could tell her it was meant to be.So happy to hear Fubu is eating again his momma is going crazy with happiness. Some of his FB friends arranged a prayer circle for him last night.Poor Zoe was sent to FB jail for too many comments??She was so excited by the basketball but the Gators lost Gizmo’s team won the Huskies I think I am learning!!Marty is just too cute for a rat!!The squatters are really making themselves at home, dont know what’ll happen if Monty and Glesni come back,if you go on the website and click on live-streaming you’re bound to see the intruders!Have a restful Sabbath.Hugs To You,Kisses for the Puppy Pack.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
While we all hate that Our Lord had to go through agony and death, we know we would be lost in our sins without it. And He arose! Because He lives, so too shall we! And we are worthy because His blood covers all our sins forever. AMEN! That is wonderful that Fubu is eating again. The prayers are working! I’m so happy for his mama! Thankfully, Zoe is out of jail. Congratulations Gizmo on your team’s victory. Loved that pic of Marty’s little foot making an impression on our hearts. Precious! Poor Monty and Glesni. Whatever will they do??? Have a beautiful Sabbath. Hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Sugar and Nikko. Kathy

Sheena. Adriana des Mottes suffered no ill effects from being part of shorty’s accident at Cheltenham in March. She won by 10 lengths today at Fairyhouse for Wiilie Mullins. It’s her first grade 1. Bravo Adriana. Hope to hear of a win for Abby soon too.

Good News and Bad News,
Bad news is the Badgers lost by one point, as I’m sure some of you know, and I feel bad about that.
Good news is I’m throwing my support behind my adoptive state’s team, Kentucky, and Debby Godby. GO WILDCATS!!!!!!!
So I actually won either way. hugs
Sally Blank (cherish Z for my lifetime)
Sue, Son Ryan called me to invite me over for the Badger/Wildcat game. I passed, did not want to get home late in the dark. When I said I had mixed emotions as to who I wished to win, having a soft spot for the state of Kentucky, he responded, “Mom this is Wisconsin, your home team!!”
It was a very close game and the Badgers lost by one point. (heartbreaking).
Now I can say ” GO WILDCATS ” too!!!

Sally-You had better watch out. Sue is in training and is getting ready to challenge you to the match to determine president of the Wisconsin chapter of the RN club. You wouldn’t believe what she said about you. I was schocked.

@TC,GP and Judy Berube, researcher par excellence–thanks for the story of Swaps, although it made me so sick I just had to skim some of it. That should never happen to any horse. Also, Judy thanks for the pictures. Hope HT does well on her meds. I can’t imagine wanting to swim in the cold weather you have had. Hugs to you and LM too.
@Sally B.–I know what you mean about being so far behind. Thanks for the report. Sir sounds like a character. Jo’s fight with her hoof issues is fairly typical, I fear. Dawn Diovera, who writes the Horse and Man blog has given an ongoing account of her horse’s struggles. Her name is Mama Tess. You might want to keep up with what is being done for her on http://www.horseandman.com.
@Sue Fredrick–wow! That was quite a game last night! Frankly, after you beat us so thoroughly, I didn’t think anyone was likely to beat you. But I was wrong. It went right down to the buzzer.
@Debbie G.– I am thrilled for you. I really, really do think you can win it all. Go ‘Cats!
I have to claim part ‘ownership” of the team, as 3 of your starters are from Texas. I think the Harrison boys are so cute. Their parents too.
@Anne from Paramount–thanks for sharing your encounter.
@Vamp–welcome back. Hugs and prayers. Hugs to all, as a matter of fact.

Dear Max.Have just been watching Adriana’s race, she certainly proved that it’s the jockey’s who are replacable!!The short jockey is about to become a father again, got 2 little girls Isabelle and Elsa.
Pineau was parading at his homebase in Worchestershire,he was naturally tired but very well and due for his summer break.I completely forgot about the boat race today, always love watching,Oxford won again! Those jockeys are going to get a hefty ban now.Free the Moose.Sheena.
Max
Sheena. More news for you. Kauto’s brother Kauto Grand Mogol got a 3rd at Fairyhouse today. Not bad as he has been off the jumps for 2 years. Let’s hope that he does well from now on. He has a female trainer. Think that Kauto may have a sister who is also racing.
Heard about Pineau parading. It must be like a dream for that team.
Forgot about the boat race. I’m busy with horse birthdays. Had Black Forest cake for breakfast.
When is the hearing on the jockeys? Battle Group sure made his presence known at the Grand National. They should organize a race for the horses like Moosie and BG. Very tough to handicap however. The horse psychologists have plenty of work to do.

@Sue, Sally and Barbara – Thanks for your well wishes for my Wildcats. That was some game. There’s a reason why we call them the Cardiac Cats. Sue and Sally, the Badgers put up a good fight and played a great game. It could have gone either way. Barbara, I’m more than happy to make you a part owner. Go Cats!
RIP Bull in the Heather. I saw him several times at Old Friends. He was such a beautiful horse. He’ll be sorely missed.

Dear Terry
Thank you so much for sharing your visit with Art Sherman. Didn’t CC do wonderful yeaterday.
I have duel favorites for the Derby, My first Ring Weekend, well I watched the replay of the Calder Derby. And I almost cried. He was doing so well then Couldn’t tell what for sure happened because I couldn’t see a real good angle. The other horse I think came over and he veered over a lot. Losing his stride. Don’t know if anyone saw it but there was an inquiry. The other horse did win it, but he’s still I think on for the Derby. Hope he came out of that mishap well.
I like California Chrome a lot too. I lhink I like just everything about both these horses.
I also like Ride on Curlin too, Oh my, the choices.
I have to also check to see if Indy’s boy’s still got a chance. Love him too.
The horse that everyone’s been talking about, Oh gosh, gone brain dead. Is it Social Inclusion. He ran yesterday and lost, but he looked a little green to me yesterday. Very fast, He may be one to watch for the future.
OK, and now I think we probably all know Calvin BoRail will be in the Derby, Just wonder who he will ride.
Getting so excited, Only a month away now.
Celeste/ Massachusetts
Peggy,
I saw the video of the Calder Derby. That was so unfortunate for Ring Weekend. I know one of his owners (he’s a local guy in town) and I am sure he is so disappointed. He was so excited about this race. It seems to me that maybe the jockey over corrected or Ring Weekend overreacted, but whatever it was… I’m sure he would have won by a big margin if this incident hadn’t happened.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Celeste
Yeah, I agree with you. He was doing so good. And, you know he’s so young and just overreacted. probably. Maybe this was a valuable lesson for him.
I am pulling so hard for him. that’s so nice that you know his owner.
I sure hope he came out of this well.
You know Graham Motion is such a great trainer too, So I’m hoping so hard that he can do well in the Derby.
Celeste/ Massachusetts
Hi Peggy, I totally agree with you… I hope it was a valuable lesson for Ring Weekend for the Derby. I always try to make something good out of something that is not so good!! I will keep you posted if I get any info from his owner. I have not spoken to him about the race yet.
Terry Crow
Let’s hope that all of our favorites run, just like in the old days.

Carol, So right about those two. Every time I see in pedigrees the pairing of Bold Ruler and Something Royal it sends chills up my spine! Wonder who will turn out to be the Bold Ruler of the present? Curlin, Tiznow ???
Poor Round Table gets forgotten since he came along in the same year as Bold Ruler and was not as successful as a sire.

Dear Max.Thanks for the news of Kauto’s brother.Hope he does well in his racing career. There are many birthdays around and the new foal with Z of course.think a couple of Moosie’s friends have their special days this week.Black Forest for breakfast??.I found a lovely recipe in “Hello” magazine I might try it when the baby’s born.
I think the jockeys are before the beak (as Moosie would say)next Thursday, they would only have got a 2 day suspension otherwise.I’d love to see a “race” between Moose and Battle Group can you imagine it!The sun has come out in Nissyland Yay one happy cat.Free the Moose.Sheena.
Max
Sheena. Did you notice the ears on Adriana? Gigantic. With ears that size, she might have heard what short guy had said about horses being replaceable. She won today on a hand ride and she was pulling up at the end as she had the race in the bag. She’s still a baby. Good things to come from her.
Making a Black Forest cake sounds like a lot of complicated work. Other than once inviting a horse into my mother’s kitchen, I have only a passing acquaintance with kitchens. I stay away from them and their appliances. It’s Ghostbusters in there.
Free the Moose! Neigh!

Dear Max:
Too funny. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
Sheena. Just read that the jockeys may get those suspensions for the Easter weekend. How can they suspend 39 jockeys and still have racing on those days as these guys and Katie are the top jockeys? I read that AP and Davy Russell are the leaders for the jockeys. Looks like only Battle Group is in the clear because he refused to move. Ironic! It also appears that the authority of the “beak” reaches beyond UK borders. Too bad that the beak is not busy freeing the Moose. Neigh!
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Max
Max did you by any chance see any of the Keeneland Races today? In the I believe next to the last race there was the most beautiful European Shipper in for Mark Casse. It was her first start in the US. A beautiful Chestnut. She almost won too. So sorry i’m going to have to remember her name or I will look back to find it. I was so impressed with her. She was # l0. I think she came in 3ld, but she did so well.
Just beautiful Filly.
Peggy (N) South Georgia

I’m sorry she is trained by Chad Brown. Her name is “Minorette” she is by Smart Strike/Silk & Scarlet, GB, by Sadlers Wells
Euro Shipper. She is just beautiful 3 years old.

Max
Peggy. Minorette is Kentucky bred. She’s a US horse who is owned by Ballydoyle and used to be trained by Aidan O’Brien. She raced in Ireland until she appears to have been transferred to Chad Brown to train and race in the US. She’s therefore not a shipper as it looks like Brown will keep her. She’s got Sadler’s Wells as a dam sire. Very nice pedigree and one to watch.
Max
Peggy. Just noticed that Minorette has all national bases covered: Canadian father, British mother and American dam sire. Trained in Ireland. And she’s a chestnut!

Welcome back to the winner’s circle Princess! There are many more of those for you in the near future!
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.Yes,it all seems ridiculous all those jockeys getting banned at the same time but you’d think they’ve been in the game long enough to know how to behave at the start maybe Moosie should teach them!!!I expect it will all sort itself out I love my kitchen and baking you will have to get more acquainted with the most important room in the house!!.no point having the utensils and not knowing how to use them.Free the Moose!!Sheena.
Max
Sheena. It’s not easy to find horses like Moosie and Battlegroup who stand perfectly still without a gate before a race, and even after a race begins. Beak needs to take note of this and free the Moose.
I intend to leave the kitchen to my peeps. They are getting paid to take care of it.

It seems only yesterday when the first cold wind blew in and laid flat the wild rose and turned the canes gray. Leaves turned and dropped. Snows fell and drifted. Winter threatened to last forever. But it didn’t. Spring runs in and out like a child opening and slamming a door just to irritate us. The birds are flirting and meadows abound with baby calves in their first days. It is a time of change-not only in nature but in us. We enjoy the breaking point between late winter and early spring. In our mind’s eye we know where the wild phox will spread its fragrance and the oxeye daisies will crowd the narrow path. It is with the same eye that we see ourselves blooming with health and prospering beyond our dreams. Only those who walk under a cloud miss the joy of this time, the open meadows and greening hills.
Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam, where the deer and antelope play…Where seldom is heard a discouraging word and the skies are not cloudy all day.

Dear Kathy.Oh,Spring is a most joyous time of year new life everywhere, alas we’ve had days of rain here in Wales but have heard of sizzling weather to come.Maybe, hopefully!!
Fubu had such a good day lovely video of him playing, he still looks thin though.Boo is heading towards 12 million “likes” is there no stopping that dog?? Marty was adorable in the video collecting paper for his internashunal bizness,am cross with his mummy for not sharing her cereal, his little face was so sad!!Still no signs of Monty and Glesni,Dai Dot (yes this is Wales) caught 2 fish this morning and carried them in each talon, very rare.Have a great Monday.Hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar. Sheena.

Dear Sheena,
It’s going to be close to 90 here today. I’ll be dressing for the heat! I’m so glad Fubu is doing as well as he is. It’s always a good sign if an animal feels well enough to play a little. Boo is looking very chic in his lounging picture. Most famous dog EVER, I dare say. Marty is very wise in not participating in MONDAY. I wonder if I could opt out, too! He was very busy collecting all that paper. You’re right, his mum should have shared a few pieces of cereal with him. Monty and Glesni are searching for another home, maybe. Would love to have seen Dai Dot with the 2 fish, one in each talon. That IS rare. Have a good day. Hugs and love from me, lots of kisses from The Pack. Kathy
