Today is Zenyatta’s twelfth birthday, Ziconic’s third, and our tenth day of foal watch. We threw a party in front of the foaling barn with Z cupcakes, cards from fans and special treats for equine guests. Thank you to everyone at Lane’s End who helped with the festivities and showed up to celebrate! Check the blog tomorrow for a birthday recap.

I wish I were Lane’s End staff to be around Zenyatta and her loving and generous owners Ann and Jerry. I highly doubt any other owners would celebrate their fave horse’s B-Days like they do every year. Thank you Ann and everyone who thinks about her and all her loving fans!!!

Everywhere we look there are yellow flowers-yellow forsythia, yellow jonquils, and yellow daffodils. Long ribbons stretch across the sky as geese make their way north. Sometimes they fly so high we can hardly hear their call, a sound so primitive it stirs the very life of us. Other sounds-the croaking of frogs, the buzzing of night bugs, and the song of the whippoorwill-all give us signs that life goes on. They assure us that we can stop saying that spring “is coming.” It is here.
However sad some things are, spring is joy. We realize that spring does not guarantee that we will feel only joy, but we can be thankful that such joy exists. The joy of the Lord is a spring morning when the birds leave the feeders to sing in the woods. Listen closely, because spring brings an important message. Over and over it says: Live!
Out of the Indian approach to existence there came a great freedom-an intense and absorbing love for nature…

Dear Kathy.I found getting back into a normal routine helped a lot whenever we lost one of our furbabies.Pretty miserable wet day here.Disappointed there wasn’t another birthday baby. The pacing continues for Zenyatta and the Dyfi ospreys.I have been watching a fascinating documentary about Astaire/Rogers.The one thing I share with Astaire is our birthday May 10th.Hope you have a good day if possible.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO

Zenyatta, I wonder if you are expecting twins. Your tummy is so big. What a thrill you would give us all. I’m sure you have been checked many times but its been a surprise many times too. Wish you could speak, I wonder what you hear in the quiet of the night while laying . in your stall. I wonder if you have a secret. Still wishing you health and happiness as we do every day.
Crystal M.
Twins not possible. If they detected twins, one would have to sniped off. Cause twin births can be dangerous for both the mare and foals.

Great start to the season for the boys in blue Secret Brief and William Buick have just won the first of the spring double the Lincoln.Trained by Charlie Appleby.Willie Mullins is sending over a 43 strong team for Aintree he means business.Another fantastic win for Winx earlier today.Sheena.
Ann NC
Thanks, Sheena.
Watch your backside Willie. 43…wow!
Max
For sure. Odds are that The Fly was not the only biter in that army.
Good thing too that one of Willie’s brothers owns a horse transport company to get that battalion over to England.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.The ‘Fly’ likes to eat alone!Mullins has more in his team than Paul and Nicky put together. He’ll have to get an honorary knighthood if he wins the UK trainer’s title.Belado has just won for Roger Varian at a greyish Doncaster.Postponed arrived back on Monday.Sheena
sheena.davies(wales)
Oops Belardo!
Max
I read about the stats of Mullins vs. England. He will need the backing of the racing gods to pull it off. Annie also better not be distracted by the Moose.
Glad to hear about that win for Varian. Like that guy.
Raining as I await good news from the foaling barn. Z and her baby are keeping us all guessing. Noticed one interesting fact about War Front. He’s only 15.2 like his grand sire, Northern Dancer. If the foal has inherited the family disposition, it will be formidable. Those horses don’t take orders.
Ann NC
Ahhhhh, ND. Today is the Fla Derby. My love of horse racing started the day ND won that one.
Safe and sound for the battallion.
Barbara Wood
Oh, I had so hoped for some foal news this morning. Hang in there, Zenny. Pretty soon you might need a sling for that tummy.
You are worth a huge birthday party. Hugs to all.

Loving in the Tough Times
DEVOTIONAL
by Gini @ DaySpring
It usually happens when your life seems to be moving along seamlessly – you’ve perfected your morning routine, planned adequately for afternoon activities, and this week’s dinner menu is working out fabulously. Your husband and kids are playing along and all in all, you feel like you finally have the upper hand on this crazy balancing act we call life.
Then, something happens – you suddenly lose a loved one, get laid off from work, become diagnosed with a serious illness, or experience an unwanted life-changing event – all of which brings your seamless balancing act to an abrupt halt. And, you find yourself curled up in bed, no longer caring about routines or activities and the last thing on your mind is dinner. During these times, it’s easy to isolate yourself by pushing your loved ones away, lashing out at your kids, and completely disconnecting from your husband. And, in return, your marriage suffers and your kids feel confused and somewhat abandoned.
It’s hard, but we must remember not only to accept love during the tough times, but to also give love. Again, it’s hard, but sometimes all it takes is getting out of bed and asking for a group hug. Because, you see, as Christians, we are called to encourage one another, to lift each other up and to trust that God is in control of every situation. So, take a deep breath and ask God to fill your heart with His love as you face the difficult days ahead, remember to accept love and encouragement from your friends and family, and don’t forget to love them in return.
hugz/prayerz, vamp
