    Kent Desormeaux was suspended four days by the stewards at Santa Anita for his ride on Calculator in the Kona Gold Stakes on Saturday. It was four days instead of three because it was his second offense in 60 days.

    Dear Zenyatta Dumplings,
    I apologize for posting this sad news (I’ve been in and out of shock and denial) so late.

    We lost our beloved red headed dumpling, Karen Gogue. She died Wednesday, evening April 4th, at her home. She was outside working in her yard when she felt she was having a stroke, so she called her eldest son, who had just left the house for work. After they hung up she called for her sister, Debbie, who was inside the house. Either Debbie or Karen called paramedics. Karen was helped into her house by her sister.

    When paramedics arrived within 5 mins Karen was already unconscious ? Karen had a brain anyrism. After arriving at the hospital they found another smaller one, but her life was already taken. No brain waves.

    Karen was 66 years old. She has 2 grown sons, 3 grown daughters (one is a special needs adult), and several grandchildren.

    Her one daughter, Jo, and I spoke about where to have the Celebrate of Life for Karen. It was easy to choose Santa Anita. It will be by Clocker’s Corner (originally, Jo thought she wanted in the infield) on Sunday, April 29th, 11:00 to 3:00 with lunch at noon.

    A race will be named in her honor. We won’t know which race the track picks until Weds.

    Thank you Judy. I know how difficult this must be for you and her family. You were very special to Karen. She was a light that really shined. She was always so kind to me when we all sort of became racetrack friends because of this wonderful world of Zenyatta. I will think of her videotaping Princess Z and baby boy Z in the heavens above. A real loss for those of us who knew her.

      Thanks for the information! My mom (she is 90) is eagerly waiting for the Derby and the Oaks. She does not have a computer, so i took a photo of the information and sent it to her on her cell phone. Yes, no computer but an I Phone!! Gotta love her! Her favorites are Bolt D’Oro and Royal Indy. I dont have a dog show that weekend, I think I will run over to her house and watch the race with her!

    Soo sorry to read of the loss of our darling Karen. Following the aunties in their love of Queen Z, saved my life while battling some very serious illnesses. I was checking in on Our Queen to check on any foaling news, and sadly came upon the news of Karen’s death. I am truly saddened. Helene
