It kind of breaks my heart that they can’t even be bothered to give her a good grooming before they take her birthday pictures – to think of how IMMACULATE Mario kept her and how much Zenyatta loves human attention…all the staff look nice enough but it still seems kind of like foal factory conditions, Zenyatta deserves better.
I think Lane’s end like their horses to live as natural a lifestyle as possible which means enjoying a good roll in the mud.She is not a racehorse any longer..
I truly don’t believe it is a matter of Lanes End not bothering to groom her, it is a matter of them letting Zenny be happy. She loves being a horse having a good roll in the mud. I say more power to you Zenyatta. She looks beautiful in any manner in which we see her. I am not picking on you and understand what you mean, but I respectfully disagree and totally trust Lane’s End. Mario did keep her looking magnificent, but even Hollywood starlets go without makeup once in awhile. lol.
Unlike most high end stables, Lanes end gives the horses opportunity to be normal horses, rolling in the muddy fields and spending most of the day outside. She looks very healthy, though. Nourished and muscular. I’m sure they groom her more than enough to keep her skin and coat healthy. Plus, many thoroughbreds are very sensitive to touch, and thus don’t enjoy a rigorous grooming which is necessary to get the dried mud off. It’s her birthday. She doesn’t need to look pretty on her birthday if grooming is not something she enjoys. Even if her caregivers’/owners’ intentions were inhumane and purely for the money with no love for Zenyatta, they would still take extremely good care of her since that is what is necessary for healthy fouls.
It looks like Zenyatta has just come in from being turned out for the day. They usually don’t groom until a horse is ready to go into the barn for the night. A little mud on her coat and mane does no harm at all.
Dear Judy.Sadly no signs of Glesni. We just wait and hope.3J is settling down well though and EJ at Loch Garten has a new ‘boyfriend’33(11) continues to bring in many sticks and even a branch! They are a wonderful twosome.Aintree tomorrow!Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
This certainly proves your point and it is despicable if these funds were collected under false pretenses as a scam. This is infuriating. These people could be working in conjunction with the kill pen auctions to set the money amounts for rescuing and dividing the donations among themselves for all we know.
A Z’ster friend sent me this article last week. This is exactly what needs to be done at every track for every horse. This rule could keep the majority of our beloved horses from ending up in kill pens in the first place. It’s a step in the right direction to protect the horses. There would not be innocent horses for unscrupulous individuals to use in their deplorable scams.
Wishing Captain Guy Disney good luck in the Foxhunter’s later on at Aintree. He will became the first amputee to tackle the GN fences.
A very impressive winner of the Juvenile hurdle. We have a Dream won with Daryl Jacob on board Nicky Henderson trained.
Thanks so much for this great article about Mind Your Biscuits!! Glad he is back in the US and is doing/looking so well — he certainly deserves a little R&R. Gosh, Biscuits, you are one good-looking chestnut!
Dear Judy.Steve H.askin has tweeted Ray Paulick about the article. At the centre of all this mud slinging are terrified horses dumped by their owners/trainers because they are past their sell by date.Should’nt everyone concentrate on them.I cannot say anything about Dina I only know her through twitter but it was because of her I found out about the extent of the slaughter.
Still no signs of Glesni we hope she may return in the warmer weather over the weekend but Monty is bonding with 3J now.9 have not returned to the UK this year.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT and all the sweetie.Love and hugs SheenaX
So happy for Moosie and Happy Birthday Q. Yes, Willow was visably tired after about five months of caring for Figi. Angela weaned the filly at six months. Willow turned 18 this year.
As you say, it’s the horses that suffer. Don’t know the truth about Dina either, but the solution is protecting the horses by tracking them to make sure they don’t end up in kill pens. Any one who is using our beloved horses to scam money should be exposed and charged. These individuals should be banned from working with animals or in rescues.
I hope other racetracks follow Santa Anita and the Stronach Group in their new rules to protect horses. Love and Hugs, JB

I am trying to follow this about Dina. So first she was rescuing horses, and now it appears she is running a scam? Do I have that right?
I agree that it needs to start before any horses end up in a feed lot. It should never come to that. You don’t profit off a horse, and then throw it out like trash.
Don’t think this is confined to Thoroughbreds. Look at the plight of our wild horses.
If you read the article from Paulick Report that Z13Rulz posted, it appears that Dina Alborano’s credibility is suspect. The horses suffer.
You are right; our Wild Ones, Standard Breds, Quarter Horses, Donkeys, Burros and other breeds, along with our beloved TBs, are abandoned every day. Hopefully, Santa Anita’s new rule to keep track of their horses will be adopted by all tracks. Breeders, Owners and Trainers have to take responsibility for the welfare of all of their horses. Love and Hugs, JB
