Has anyone heard anything about Ziconic? It’s like he has dropped off the face of the earth. There even wasn’t any mention of him on his birthday, which is the same as his mom.
Dear Max.Moosie is busy preparing his day out at Market Rasen.Yes,a lot of us remembered George Washington yesterday.I do not blame Aidan for trying but for me the horse’s welfare always comes first. It was a joy to ex-racehorse Arctic Soul finish 4th at Badminton today. It was such a delight to hear his mum Gemma talk to him around the XC.
Thunder Snow and the Moose should have a chat with Mendy. Neither one of them would race unless they decided to do it. Moose probably would not have left the gate, if they managed to get him in there at all.
That number of horses is too much, especially having to deal with those track conditions. I always worry. Hopefully, they all came back OK. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
There are more a lot than that number in some British races, but often the course is a straight line like the Rowley Mile. No sharp turns. Much better racing conditions for the horses.
Judy Berube
Dear Max:
The layout of the courses in the UK and also less frantic jockeying for position to get to the front early, don’t you think. Racing mentality in the US based on speed mostly.
Felt sorry for Promises Fulfilled too. This is the second race in a row he went to the front at blistering speed and faded to 15th. Hope this doesn’t break his spirit. Same thing happened to his Daddy. Love and Hugs, JB

I can’t wait to see him come for @BreedersCup #kyderby https://twitter.com/A_Evers/status/993224996637077505
Dear Judy.I heard about Mike last night in the interviews post race.Aidan said he just could’nt get over the noise there was even a preacher!Maybe praying for the rain to stop.Teddy went home today and said goodbye to some new friends he made.We have a 2nd chick at Manton Bay.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

Dear Sheena:
Safe trip home for beautiful Mendy. Two chicks; that’s great. The more exposure Aidan and his horses are exposed to American racing, the noise and the speed mentality, the better they will do. Hope Mendy stays well and we get the chance to see him again here. He’ll do better with a clean trip too. Goodnight. Love and Hugs, JB, LM and all the Sweeties

JudyB. O’Brien has been trying to win on dirt in the US since 1996. Galileo tried against Tiznow and finished 6th. You cannot win on dirt by flying in from Ireland with a turf trained horse, although some day the law of averages might work in his favor. But maybe not.
Judy Berube
Dear Max:
What you say is so true, but maybe Aidan will try training on dirt specifically with a US race in mind and maybe plan to have staff and horse(s) stay over well in advance to get a prep race in even. Won’t be easy on him or the horses; and would be a gamble; but I got the impression from what he said that he and some of the owners feel it would be worth it to win the KD. As you say; could get lucky. We’ll have to wait and see if they try again. Mullins apparently doesn’t feel like it’s something he wants to do.
Not making excuses, but I do think that between Justify’s talent, getting beat up breaking from the 14 Post, the messy track conditions and Mendy’s inexperience with US racing, he had a lot to overcome to even be in contention. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. There is no where to train horses on dirt in Europe to reach the standards of the horses in the KD. There are no races that compare in any way to US conditions. No horse has ever won the KD or the Classic on dirt who was trained outside of the US. Sending over a horse for a few weeks in advance won’t cut it. Abdullah got a winner in the Classic mainly because he sent Arrogate, a US born horse to Baffert. Up until then he was using Cecil and losing. His big last loss was to Zenyatta.
judy berube
Dear Max:
All true points. No substitute for training in the US, as Arrogate did. We will have to wait and see if they try again. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
Unfortunately for the horse and other horses, he does intend to keep trying. I read one critic say that in idle conditions Mendy could have finished 19th in the KD.
I saw Mike’s fianceé Cynthia on twitter.Very attractive but soaked to the skin!I think Mendelssohn was due at Shannon around midnight. He will be relieved to get home.
I didn’t see anything about Justy not being well in the article I linked. Did you read something else that I missed?
In the link I posted above, Baffert said this about Mikey. He said he didn’t know if Justy is just too strong or Mikey is getting too old to pull him up. Ha,ha. I’m going with Justy being too strong. Love and Hugs, JB
So sad to hear the magnificent Enable has met with a setback and will not be seen until august at the earliest. She has some filling in her knee which is being fully investigated.Get well soon cariad fach.I just adore this filly.
Belated congrats to Justify and Mikey (apparently times 2 for Mikey, but I haven’t actually seen the news other than here). Was disappointed that Bolt didn’t do better, but it seems like he was among many who got jostled around. Was hoping that Victor’s experience would kick in (alas). Reports this morning sound like many of the other top contenders are skipping the Preakness (good for the horses, not so good for the race I guess). Will be interesting to see who actually shows up.
Watching the replay, it appeared Victor was pulling him up just before the finish. He appeared to be standing in the irons. Dont know if a horse cut in front of him, or interfered in some way. Or maybe he feared an injury. Have not heard from connections. Has anyone out there heard about how Bolt came out of the race?
Dear Judy.I had looked forward so much to seeing Enable again in the Coronation cup.Hope she will fully recover.Teddy was enjoying himself in the shade today.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
