Max, Irap by Tiznow out of Silken Cat (Storm Cat), started 8 times including today and broke his Maiden in the BG at 33-1. Very nice pedigree. Congrats to him and his connections. Love and Hugs, JB
I enjoyed watching him. He’s green but in a Tiznow kind of way. He’s could be very good as he gets more experience. Also glad to see a Gormley win for the Moss colors. He’s in for the KD. Royal Mo might also have the points. Not sure.
Yes, Irap, will only get better with experience. I’m so happy for Gormley, JS and the Moss colors too. I think Royal Mo has enough points to be in the Derby along with Gormley. Love and Hugs, JB
Congrats to Gormley; beautifully done. Nice ride by Victor. Wow, what a tough Derby this is going to be. They’re all so talented: Gunnevera, Gormley, HWCBN and more. Love and Hugs, JB

Santa Anita: Gormley wins Santa Anita Derby
Steve Andersen DRF Live April 8, 2017
Gormley won the third graded stakes of his career, and second Grade 1, in Saturday’s $1 million Santa Anita Derby.
Ridden by Victor Espinoza, 6-1 Gormley edged 7-1 Battle of Midway by a half-length, running 1 1-8 miles in 1:51.16. Royal Mo (11-1) finished third, beaten a length.
Royal Mo was ridden by Gary Stevens, who lost his whip in the final sixteenth, according to track stewards.
Reach the World finished fourth followed by Iliad, Kimbear, Term of Art, Irish Freedom, Milton Freewater, Midnight Pleasure, So Conflated, American Anthem and Comma Sister. http://live.drf.com/nuggets/36060
Congratulations to One for Arthur for winning the Grand National and to all the horses who raced, thank goodness they all came home safe.
In reading the” Grand National-2017 Runners and Odds”( Grand National) before the race it gave a little background on the horses and made me realize that they are all champs.
Regal Encore pulled up 6 times in 8 starts in the last year( in 75% of his races) and came in 8th, let’s hope a healthy horse. Ballyynagour pulled up in Nov. and Dec. /16 and in Jan./17 on three different kinds of ground, he came in an amazing 11th. Cocktails at Dawn has not been in form for the last 2 yrs. and in the last 5 runs, pulled up twice, fell twice, and was second to last in the 5th start. He finished and that is a huge achievement! So many stories. The horse that perhaps showed the most courage was the one who came in last, Wounded Warrior. He soundly beat Rule the World (Grand National winner in 2016) in a race at Naas in 2015. Shortly after he was raced again and though he came in third in that race,”he has not shown his fighting spririt since”. If only horses could talk. Today he did not quit, did not unseat his rider, and made it over the last fence. May his days of being a warrior come to an end and may he have a long and happy retirement. My prayer for owners and trainers and all connections is to be in tune with their horse and to find a way to keep them safe physically and mentally.
Wounded Warrior was pulled up today Wonderful Charm ridden by the short guy’s sister was last 19 horses finished out of 40 runners and One For Arthur was later paraded after recovering from his exertions. He looked splendid. We didn’t lose one horse during the 3 day meet.Aintree has exceptional welfare now.
Congratulations to John Shirreffs, Mr. & Mrs. Moss, & all of Team Z who work so hard to take such great care of these beautiful horses!!! I am so happy the “boys” did so well today!!! Off to the Kentucky Derby!!!!!
No I didn’t know. The attention was all on Arrogate!
Max
Riding Lani must have been an adventure. He’s his own horse. Lani however is still a very good racer. I’m waiting to see where he goes next. Moore might be going with him.
Thanks for correcting me, Wounded Warrior was last on a list I saw after the race.
The history of him before the race is correct- was on the Grand National info on runners and odds.
I didn’t know he was pulled up,hope he is fine. He is still a hero in my books.
Yes, very good record for the three day meet at Aintree, glad they all came home safe.
He is only 8 and by Gigginstown stud so I cannot imagine he will be retired yet he has quite a decent record some wins and been placed but this the 2nd consecutive time he has been pulled up.Maybe a summer on grass will help him.
Dear Judy:Such a beautiful day at Aintree Julie and Jamie were up there he was busy getting autographs.Everyone is so happy all horses got home safely.I find it strange the protesters think there is only racing on one day a year!Hovis is loving Doctor Greengrass and Aran the male has returned to Glaslyn.Lovely quiet day for Monty and Glesni.Good win for Gormley and a 3rd from Royal Mo.Congratulations and just how amazing is Winx.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Bentley and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

BGG,
Thanks for the post. So happy for John, Ann, Jerry and all the team. Thought Royal Mo and Gary did very well. Did not see Ann in the winners’ circle group. Hope all is well with her.
Was wondering also where Ann was????? What a race! Considering that Royal Mo shipped to Arkansas and ran 20 days ago, may he was a tad tired, but still to finish 3rd. Gormley had 27 days. I hope RM goes to the Derby also and that Gary will stick with him. I noticed also during the warm-up Gormley was trying to do the Z dance. So cute!

Wow, so happy for the Mosses and John and Dottie. Gormley and Royal Mo both ran so well!!
I too was wondering where Ann was. Hope all is well. She is such a nice lady!

BGG,
Thanks for posting. I do think He Who Cannot Be Named ran the best race of the 3. It did not appear that Rajiv got into him at all. Hope on the first Saturday in May this one shows up not the one who threw in the clunker.
In spite all of the temptations, I am not going to write about him again until May 8th. Don’t want to jinx him.
Dear Max.I looked up Lani’s stats seems he raced twice at Meydan.Yes perhaps Ryan will go along for the ride.Just like the Moose very much his own horse.Moose looks happy these days even the BHA tweeted a pic of him at Aintree.
When he was a young horse in Kentucky, Lani got the nick name “Jaws”. He liked to steal food from the yearlings for sale, who were fed separately. Apparently, he always managed to take some of their food. His half brother, Awardee, was also in the DWC.
