Today is Zenyatta’s 13th birthday, and she celebrated with her pals from Lane’s End Farm. There were cookies, cupcakes, and cards from fans around the world. Happy birthday to Queen Z and our boy Ziconic too!
RIP The Bay Oak collapsed and died post race at Ffos Las yesterday after winning.Dan Skelton trained. This is happening far too often for my liking.
Great to see Moosie enjoying his day out at Middleham with old pal Junior.Moose was the wisest of horses only run when the mood takes you!
Indeed! One of the syndicate Dave Arthur is delighted to see him so happy now .He gave them so much fun while “racing”!

He was super for racing. He won some big races, but he also showed people that horses are not machines. They should have a say in what they will do. I am also delighted to see him looking so well in his cashmere.
As another observation about Ziconic’s race yesterday, it seemed strange that the starting gate and the first few yards were on the dirt before it shifted to the turf. Does anyone understand why they would do that? Wonder if it was confusing to any of the horses (and especially our Red Prince who really doesn’t need any additional distractions out of the gate)?
That’s just the way the turf course is set up at SA. It shouldn’t make any difference. The onus is on the horse to deal. Ziconic has worked that course several times? Secretariat raced on the old turf course at Woodbine which required the horses to cross over the dirt track in the middle of the race. It didn’t phase Secretariat, who won and set a record in what was his last race. It also snowed that day.
A fantastic season for Robbie Power and Jessie Harrington just got better today when Our Duke won the Irish Grand National by 14lengths.The team also won the Cheltenham Gold cup in march but there were more woes for Barry Geraghty he is out for 3 months with a fractured arm.He had only just returned from injury at Aintree. He undergoes surgery tomorrow.
Dear Judy:Great photo of Hovis with the upturned pink wheelbarrow “Oh no it wasn’t me auntie Emily”He is looking really well. Some beautiful paintings of Kauto and Denman on horse racing nostalgia FB and a great video of Glesni’s egg-laying.Hopefully a 3rd on Thursday.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Willow Bentley and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

His name was To Dubai, a son of E Dubai; a gorgeous five year old Bay Gelding who was adopted by Angela, the woman who owns my Papa Charlie. Charlie was vanned from Suffolk Downs in 2012, with the help of my beloved Z friends in our rescue group, to her farm in Cranston, RI.
In 2014, Suffolk closed and many horses needed homes. Angela went to Suffolk and brought Dubai home to the farm. The second day he was home he went lame. Angela discovered a number of perforations near the coronary band on all of his feet which resulted in abscesses. We believe he was injected with steroids to keep him racing. Could not be proven, but the vet agreed with that assessment.
Everything was tried; soaking and wrapping his feet to clear up the abscesses, pain meds; one abscess would clear up and another one would pop up. Sadly, he developed Laminitis in all of his feet and when even with meds; Angela couldn’t alleviate his pain, he was euthanized at the recommendation of the vet. He was the sweetest boy. Though we only knew him for a short time, we all loved him very much. He’s buried on the farm. Love and Hugs, JB
Does anyone here know any information on the Thoroughbred Sain Et Sauf. He is deceased but he is the son of Secretariat and Fanfreluche. I ask because this April 2o on the travel chanel is suppose to be the story of his mothers kidnapping from Claiborne Farm. His name means safe and sound in French. Would love to know more about him. The story comes on at 9pm and is suppose to be the true story about his mother. She was in foal to Secretariat and Sain was their son.
http://afleetalexandra.tumblr.com/image/19029034139
After surviving a kidnapping, Fanfreluche foaled a son of Secretariat on the night of Feb. 16, 1978. He was named, appropriately, Sain et Sauf – French for “Safe and Sound”
Dear Judy, Oh my goodness, Isn’t he a beautiful little fella Thank You so much. Brings tears to the eyes. Wish we all could have known him. Franfreluche is just beautiful also. Looking so forward to her story. It is on at different times. But I hear the 20th is one of the times at 9pm. I got an email from Secretariat.com and it was posted there. So glad I got it.

Judy,
Thanks for the mention of D’Accord. Had not thought of him in a long time. Liked him a lot. Of course, when you get to my age, it is hard to keep track of all the ones you have liked over 50+ years.
Happy Happy Birthday to our Beloved Judy Berube. My Dear Friend I so hope you have the most wonderful Birthday and I hope you have many many more. Love, Peggy
Dear Judy:Wishing my dear friend Judy a very Happy Birthday. The first lady of this blog where would we be without your posts.Have a wonderful day.Love and hugs SheenaX
Dear Judy,
Happy Birthday! After all these years on Zenny’s website, I think you are “The Favorite” posting companion of most of us Zenyatta fans. Hope you have a fun, fun birthday week! I pray God’s many blessings for you, as always! with much love, Elizabeth
Judy,
Happy Birthday! Hope you and Lola Mae have a joyous day. Thank you for all your kindness here on the blog. You are always civil and loving in your posts. Even though I would not recognize you in person, I feel that I have a good friend.
Eat lots of cake and ice cream and have a day of celebration.
Judy,
Happy Birthday. You and Lola Mae have a joyous day. Thank you for being such a kind loving friend to so many of us here on the blog. Left you a post before but for some reason, none of my posts are getting on.
Celebrate with all your friends and eat lots of cake and ice cream.
Happy Birthday dear Judy Berube. Not sure if I’m the only one who has ever had the honor of meeting you in person, but I feel very blessed indeed. We are all so very fortunate to know you here on the blog and to be the recipients of all you share with us. Hope you have a great day!
Happy Birthday Judy. I’m still trying to get acquainted but like you, I’ve watched horses run for over 50 years. I vaguely remember seeing a MovieTone newsreel that featured Nashua and from that time on I was hooked. However, the family didn’t have TV then and we weren’t particularly close to to a racetrack. I really enjoy your posts and reading about events and especially horses I’d never heard of.
Here’s hoping you have a glorious day! Best Wishes!
Surprised to hear Tepin has been retired.I had really hoped she would visit us again.Have a great life sweetheart.I will always remember your fabulous win at RA last year.God blessX
Two-Time Champion Tepin Retired from Racing
By Alan Carasso TDN Tuesday, April 18, 2017
Tepin (Bernstein–Life Happened, by Stravinsky), a graded winner on the dirt at two who went on to thrash the boys in the GI Breeders’ Cup Mile and became the first American-based winner of the G1 Queen Anne S. at Royal Ascot, has been retired from racing, owner Robert Masterson told the TDN Tuesday.
“Tepin is being retired. There is nothing physically wrong with her. She just isn’t interested in running any more,” Masterson told the TDN. “There are no plans to breed her this year. It’s too late, and we’ve not made any decision on her future.” http://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/two-time-champion-tepin-retired-from-racing/
Thanks for posting this news about Tepin. I do hope she will continue to be healthy and happy. She will be missed very much, but I am glad they are listening to her and respecting her decision.
Happy birthday Judy. Hope all had a wonderful Easter. Don’t mean to be a downer but I can’t help but think of wonderful little Easter Lily-Z Princess. Go Gormley! Dearest Zenyatta be safe and healthy and have a safe foal.
I think of our beloved Z Princess all the time too. Of course, sadly we’ll never know for sure, but she had “the look”; the poise and conformation of a “race horse”. Oh, what might have been. Love and Hugs, JB
Judy,
I too think of little Z Princess a lot. She had such personality and charm. I do think with her pedigree she would have been a really good race horse. Such a loss. I know Ann must mourn her loss much more than we.
