Dear Kathy.Gosh, you were an early bird yesterday!Poor Hovis losing wise old Tom I always shed tears at the beautiful poems he writes.! I heard about his visit to “Your horse is Alive” last night,he must be very excited.Oh, fame at last!!
Fubu is visiting the doc again, has stopped eating his dry food again. He has reached 7,500 and more!Hope all goes well for him.Zoe had bad news about one of her patients too Mr Connie.she was so sweet in the video. Also sad news about Peanut.I was happy to visit Joey and see him so well and happy.
Marty had a busy night handing out adbice(loved those ratties covered in custard)Marty’s jokes are hilarious!Did you see Sam and Amy performing their tricks on Zoe’s page.Brilliant.Ryan Moore has had a treble at Newmarket Sky Lantern disappointing in the Falmouth, Integral and Ryan won.The chicks were sleeping alone last night when I checked in about 12.30am all grown-up now!Have a great Friday.Hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Yes, the tribute poem for Tom was very poignant. I always get nervous when Fubu stops eating. We know that one day the meds won’t work. Sad situation. I am glad the voting for him is going so well. Praying that Peanut pulls through. Such a beautiful little dog! I’m thankful about Joey, too. I wish they could tell us why he got sick, though. Marty was very funny as always. The custard episode was hilarious. Sam and Amy were so impressive. Glad you had some good races to enjoy. The chicks are growing up so fast! Hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar.

@Sandy……I got that black veil too…..but I changed to “home page” and saw your post
….black veil still on the dashboard ….grrrrrrrrr….so I tried to join the league “zenstastics” but ended up in Drosselmeyer?…. so confused

Yikes!! We need you on OUR team – hope you figure out how to exit Drosselmeyer!!

People are so kind. I have been offered so many different kinds of dogs since I lost my Lightning.. I’m not ready for another dog. One lady even wanted to give me her parakeet. I only like birds from a distance. It’s a phobic kind on thing. Is phobic a word? Wonder who will replace Gary on his mounts. Looking forward to Saratoga and Del Mar. Has there been any news about GOD’s future. I worry about what will happen to him when he is through racing. I hope the owners will retire him to someplace nice and give him the retirement he deserves considering all he’s done for them.

Wise Dan turns in first work since colic surgery
BY Jerry Bossert NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Friday, July 11, 2014
Two-time Horse of the Year Wise Dan turned in his first breeze since colic surgery Friday morning at Keeneland.
“Couldn’t ask for anything better for his first breeze,” trainer Charlie LoPresti said after Wise Dan worked on Keeneland’s turf course Friday morning to mark a milestone in his return to competition.
In his first breeze since emergency colic surgery on May 16, the 7-year-old gelding and regular exercise rider Damien Rock covered a half-mile in :50.40, galloping out five-eighths in 1:02.40 and three-quarters in 1:17.
“I was nervous about this one,” LoPresti said. “I’d say it was better than I expected. What I liked about the way he worked today is it wasn’t one of those speedy works. It was slow starting out then h

From NY Daily News article:
LoPresti said Wise Dan would leave for Saratoga on Sunday and be among his 15 horses there. If the gelding continues to progress, LoPresti said he would work once over the turf course there and that the Fourstardave on Aug. 9 was “definitely in the cards.” Otherwise, the Bernard Baruch (G2) on Aug. 30 might be the target.
Future races could include the Ricoh Woodbine Mile (G1) on Sept. 14 and the Shadwell Turf Mile (G1) on Oct. 4 at Keeneland. Wise Dan won the Fourstardave and the Woodbine Mile the past two seasons and has a win and a second in the Shadwell Turf Mile.

Dear Max.Great news about Dan especially for you after the sad loss of Tasty.Onwards and upwards.I was sad to hear about Hovis’ friend Old Tom crossing the bridge and his poems always move me to tears.Great news about Hovis going to “Your Horse is Alive”.
Another grey day at Newmarket (beautiful in Wales)Sky Lantern was disappointing in the Falmouth but Joyeuse ran well at York, was only beaten by a whisker.Am sad to lose the Fugue but she has retired safe and sound.Motherhood beckons!Free the Moose.PU Dan and all horses everywhere.Niss4PM.Always remembering Tasty.Sheena
Max
Sheena. Dan does look fine in that video, pretty darn amazing.
Not happy that Joyeuse got a second. It’s time for her to win. What has happened to Sky Lantern?
Retiring The Fugue is a relief if she is ready for it. Take no chances.
Free the Moose. Beak, it’s been long enough.

What horse racing fan is not pulling for Wise Dan to make a complete recovery?

Max
Sheena. You are welcome. Like your cat artwork. Hope Nissy wins. It’s been tough for that cat.
Check out the videos that I left for JudyB about Sea The Stars and his momma. She was a chestnut, a beautiful one. Sea The Moon takes after his daddy in his coat because both his grannies and his mother are chestnuts.
Free the Moose. The Moose must be free. Danny, you are the Man. Beast, act like Dan. Reilly and Sir, go for those treats. Sick horses, get well soon. Tasty, keep watch over Z and those young ones, especially Cozzy in NY. We are looking out for your baby. And let Big D know that he’s never forgotten. We won’t forget any horse whom we’ve loved. That means every one of them. Neigh!
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.Loved the videos of Sea The Stars especially at the stud.He is a truly beautiful horse I loved him from the moment I saw him.It was a great feat to win right through from april to October.I think because Frankel came along so soon STS wasn’t given the credit he deserved.Far better to remember them as 2 equally great horses but then ALL horses are magnificent creatures.Free the Moose.PU Dan and all horses.Niss4PM=^..^=Sheena.
Max
Sheena. Don’t forget his momma, Urban Sea. She was a remarkable racing filly herself to win the Arc, and then to have a son run in her hoof prints and win it as well is beyond amazing. She produced two Derby winners in Galileo and Sea The Stars. Incredible. Sea The Stars has a nice place to live. In the last scene of him in the video looking out of the window, he might be thinking – Zenyatta, call me.
Barb Guckert
Ziconic is tremendous for a yearling! He’s the one that will run the hooves off the other horses!
If he makes it to the track by then, mark my words, he’s gonna be the next TC champ.
When next you breed Zen. Send her back To Tapit
Deb E.
Ziconic does have “the look of eagles”, doesn’t he? Looking at him takes me back to my 6 year-old-self in 1973 dreaming about “My Horsie” (a.k.a. Secretariat). Ziconic reminds me so much of Red, it’s absolutely spooky. He’s magnificent!

Max
KathyR. This is a great story. I’m glad that it turned out well for him. Australia is celebrated for having superior swimmers and now we know that the reputation includes your horses, even if this one wanted to escape to New Zealand. Reminds me of Pebbles. She spent more time swimming than galloping. She also liked the company of a particular gelding, rather like Black Caviar and Saloon.

And that should be swim! You’re not the only one with senior fingers, Judy! Hugs, KathyR

This may sound foolish to some of you, but I do not think Zenyatta should have to travel any distance to be breed. If there are awesome TB males awaiting for the chance, come to her.
By the way, I think I know the Happy song you are talking about. It does make me happy; I like the beat. In fact I think it was played at my sons wedding reception by the DJ.
Later as the reception was rolling on, there was South American music playing too, and this younger gentlemen from Venezuala, while I had been dancing out with several women, came to dance with me and gave me a real lesson on his kind of dance!! Oh my, I was running out of air!! Happy, Happy! ha ha
Have a wonderful week-end. hugs, Sally B

JudyB. I was impressed by Urban Sea’s win too. They both do not expend unnecessary energy to win. They are the only mother and son to win the Arc, one of the toughest races to win. Very Z like. Wouldn’t it be great if one or all of Z’s young ones won a BCC like their momma? That would be a thrill.

That is a distinct possibility. How will we ever contain ourselves! We’ll all going bonkers. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Max:
Voila Ici did it again – jumped well, placed nicely on the rails with cover, then ran out of puff on the turn for home, finishing 8th in a field of 12. Had a memory that he’s Irish born but classified as Italian, having done most of his racing there, so found this bit of information: it’s from 2012, so somewhat out of date, especially since he’s now had two other trainers apart from Peter Moody, but still interesting given where he’s raced.
http://www.racingvictoria.net.au/p_Voila_Ici_International_Horse_Profile.aspx
Cheers, KathyR.
Max
KathyR. Nice photo of Voila. He’s got to keep trying or enter some sprints like Black Caviar.
KathyR
Dear Max:
Voila Ici is a stayer, not a sprinter like Nelly. He was purchased to compete in the Melbourne Cup/Cox Plate events. I think, given he is partly owned by Glenlogan Park stud, they’re hanging out for him to win, and then send him to stud. But if he fails …….?
Max
KathyR. Yes, I knew that he was a stayer but maybe he’s more interested in sprints now if he’s getting tired. He is a handsome guy. I saw a photo of him from 2012 and his dapples were super. Getting moved about so much is tough on a horse. Hopefully, his new trainer will inspire him. His pedigree is interesting. You’re right. He’s irish but raced mostly in Italy. His mom is Far Hope. I like that name.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Kathy and Max:
He’s a beautiful boy. As you said Max, maybe a sprint would suit him better. Love and Hugs, JB
