Happy weekend!
We went over to the yearling barn to visit 12Z this morning after the fog lifted. He was turned out with a group of lazy colts, grazing and napping in the morning sunshine. They were all quite interested in the camera, especially 12Z and his chestnut friend (Heather from Lane’s End told us they’re best buds).
Enjoy the new photos!

Oh, my goodness gracious, Prince, you are such a stunningly handsome teenager! What gorgeous lines, legs, and a chiseled head. Your rump is well-defined, and your eyes are intelligent and self-confident. You are an absolute doll, pretty boy! Thank you, Lane’s End, for sharing these photos of Zenny’s number one boy. We love catching a few glimpses of 12Z and his charming chums. +

Hey Prince! I just for the first time noticed the little snip of white inside your left nostril! I’ve always been too busy looking at your eyes and your legs and your “polka dots”. Tee hee.

His polka dot band is almost like an ID bracelet gifted from Z, so that 12Z will always have right before him something from his momma to remember her and the best days of his life at Lane’s End with the Queen of Racing.

Well said, Max!

It’s good to see the handsome boy so content with his friends. He has grown so much and it must be great for TeamZ to see his progress and remind him who his “grandparents” are.
Thanks for the new photos.
Kisses to the Queen and princeZ.

Hi handsome boys! You look like you’re enjoying your lives as yearlings. Can’t wait to see you when you go to “camp” and learn how to be a racehorse!

Wow, more beautiful pictures for us to enjoy. 12Z has his mom stamped all over him and it seems as if he really likes the camera, too. Many thanks to the Mosses and LE for sharing these as we anxiously await the arrival of 13Z!

He looks a whole bunch like Vertigineux. I will venture to bet he’ll race like him mom and grandma………..come from behind

More delightful pictures of our favorite colt! He’s still an only “child” but hopefully mom will deliver 13Z before long. It’s been a looong wait and well worth it.
A huge thanks to the Mosses who continue to give us these awesome pictures.

The Prince is a handsome boy!! His chestnut friend is a cutie also.

Oh Thank You for the pictures of the Little Prince and his BF. I will show the children on Monday. He looks just like Mommy. I told Dawn that they make a big deal about the father but with Zenyatta’s babies the father is minor. She is the one that Really Matters : ) That is how I see it : ) I love you sweet little guy and so do the children. Happy Easter to Little Prince and Mommy Zenyatta. Love, Shari XXXOOO

That’s how I see it too, Shari–lol.

“Bout time attention is paid to the dam side! I had to lean about Gregor Mendel, father of genetics (He of the peas) in Bio 1B at UCSB ~ 1958, from Garret Hardin. My best take away is that females are the stronger gender being XX next to the male XY. If one stacks up the XX & XY you can see that the males are missing a lower leg and therefore some DNA/RNA! LOL!

Zs’ son is a mirror image of his mom, with one exception. He has a star, while she has a blaze. Otherwise, I see no difference.

dear max was reading about JT on the racing post website bit soon yet to say what sort of recovery he can make after such serious injuries he’s in a positive frame of mind and very greatful for all the kind messages of support it will be a long road to any form of recovery I think very sad and we have the big Aintree meeting coming up next week maybe more falls and horse deaths I pray not hugs sheena
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Sheena:
The really sad side of racing. Always that risk. Hugs, JB
Max
Dear Sheena. I also took a quick look at some reports about JT. You are right that there is nothing definitive. I try to take the positive approach that miracles do happen. Look at our Paynter. When things look bleak, think of Paynter.
As to Aintree, it’s nerve wracking until it’s over. I also read that Hurricane Fly may race again at Punchestown. He might be gearing up to take another bite out of Willie Mullins, although he can do that any day and does not have to wait for a race. He’s like Big D.
Keep pacing.
darlene
Wonder how long they will stay together
Mary in Boone, NC
Prinz, you are such a good looking boy!! Grazing and napping in the sun…what a great life at Lane’s End. Your friend is a cutie too!!
As always, thank you for sharing Mr. & Mrs. Moss, Team Zenyatta, and Team Lane’s End. Wish I could kiss those ears!!!
Holiday blessings to all,

It is so important for everyone to understand that the approach of having these horses be normal horses is very important. Many horses of this value would be secluded from other horses and the elements. It is inspiring to see the approach and understanding of the Team to make the experience what it is for these horses. If you are not familiar, there are innumerable opportunities in a yearling’s day to get hurt, this is exacerbated by the space they run in and number of mates turned out with them to fraternize with. The positive mental impact of being a normal horse certainly outweighs the risk, kudos to the team in recognizing it!!
CL
Great point, always a risk to turn horses out in
Large groups!!
Although Johathan Shepard a jumps trainer in the
US believed wholeheartedly in it and did it every
Day. He said “they may get cuts and scrapes” but
Their minds stay clear and focused. One of the great
Advantages of Fairhill !!!!
Bonnie W
Would you please explain the procedure in which baby Z will get a registered name? What is the standard procedure amongst breeders? Will he be sold and then named by the new owner?
GirlSaratoga
Bonnie W:
Our little Prince, or maybe not so little anymore probably will not get his official name until he turns 2, from what I understand the Mosses like to get a feel for the horses personality and characteristics and see how his yearling training goes before they name him. I don’t not believe the Mosses will sell the Prince, I have no official knowledge of that, as I unfortunately have never had the pleasure of meeting them in person. I believe the Mosses would like to see what possibilities he has given who his parents are. (Again I do not no for sure if the plan is to keep him and race him themselves)
So……..if you are waiting on an official name for “Our Prince” it might be a little while!
Happy Easter
