On Friday, August 12, Zenyatta was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Team Z attended the ceremony at the Fasig-Tipton sales pavilion, and owners Jerry and Ann Moss accepted the award on Zenyatta’s behalf.
We toured the museum and met a number of fans who were in town for the festivities. Fans watched the ceremony live from our “Belles of the Hall” viewing party that was complete with mini horse versions of Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra. View the “Belles of the Hall” recap here.

Dear Sandy, Sheena, Elizabeth in NM, Marshall and Judy B,
Thank you so much for your birthday wishes. It was a beautiful day here in Co., my son barbequed steaks for supper and I heard from many long time friends so it was a super day.
Dear All,
As Sandy said, I do wish I could be more active here, but the eyes are letting me down. I am here in spirit, though and see all the pictures of our Queen and her family. I’m thinking pink for next Spring.
I’m enjoying being on the Zentastics fantasy racing team and boy, are there some good “bettors” on the team. I however, am middle of the pack, but it’s fun.
My huge thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Moss and Team Z for always keeping Zenyatta’s fans involved in her and her boys’ lives. This is the best place, always.
Best wishes to everyone,
Love, Marty R
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Marty:
I know too well what you are experiencing after watching my Russ struggle with failing sight (Macular Degeneration). Keeping you in my prayers. So glad you checked in with us and please know we miss you and you are in our thoughts. So glad you enjoyed your birthday. Love and Hugs, JB
Marty R / Colorado
Thank you, Judy for your kind words. Macular degeneration is what I have and it is a buzzard to deal with. I took myself off the road last year, I’m a hazard. I’m sure the state will want to trade me my driver’s license for a Colorado ID next year when I need to “renew” my license. I’ll keep it until then…it’s the best picture I’ve ever had on a driver’s license.
Being dependent is the hardest part. I have the most wonderful daughter-in-law who picks me up once a week after work and takes me to do my errands. She works hard for me, but we try to have some laughs, too.
Again, thank you Judy for your thoughts and I will “see you at the finish line” after the two fantasy races on Saturday. Love, Marty

My Dear Marty:
My heart goes out to you. Let your loved ones be there for you as you were and are for them.
Will see you at the finish line. Love and Hugs, JB

Thank you, Sheena, it was a good day. Tomorrow my son is turning fifty and that is giving me pause….how can the be?
I hope everything is going well for you. Love, Marty

Dear Marty,
Gee, 50 years ago you had quite a wonderful birthday present, didn’t you? It was only a tiny bit delayed in arriving. You and your son almost shared a birthday!
You are right about “pink ribbon girls” and birthdays — keep them coming! It is good to extend the celebration over several days, too.
Keeping you in thoughts and prayers. ?
Hugs and Love
Marty R / Colorado
Dear Marshall’
Yes, fifty years ago was a pretty great birthday, two days later. He was my biggest present at 9lb1oz and 21 inches long. A great present this year was seeing a video of his first grandson 10 months old walking unassisted. He was moving and laughing all the time. Too cute.
I hope that tropical storm isn’t causing you any problems.
Thank you for your kindness and wishes and hope you are doing well. Love, Marty
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Marty.
Happy Happy Birthday and many many more.
Marty R / Colorado
Hi Peggy, Thank you for the birthday wishes. My cousin in Minnesota called me today and I told her how great it is that this birthday keeps going on. Last night my granddaughter called and said that cake and ice cream will be this weekend, so I am having many more…for the same year. What fun. You know how we “pink ribbon” girls like birthdays. Hope you’re doing well. Love, Marty

Dear Marty,
We are going to Denver the end of the 3rd week of September. We go up thru Raton NM, then, Pueblo, Colorado Springs on the way there. Let me know if we can do anything on the way up or even get together. We go up there 2-3 times a years. So glad you have family ‘around’. We do too. Denver (UCH) has the #1 eye center in the US (tied with Johns Hopkins). Don’t know if you’ve thought of that. Keeping you in my prayers. with love, Elizabeth
Marty R / Colorado
Dear Elizabeth
Where do you go in Denver? I live in Aurora, just to the east of Denver.,
I do have information about a program the American Eye Association has for seniors with Mac. Degeneration. For part of it, someone will come to your home , I guess to give hands on tips on how to make it easier to navigate, etc. Part of it is at their facility.. The cost is free, but they would like a donation, if possible.
I’m trying to get approved for transportation ,without conditions, with Access-a-Ride, a part of the bus company, to use their services which will take you directly to your destination. i’m approved now with the conditions that the temperature has to be hotter than 90 degrees or colder than 40 degrees. I have an interview set up for Tuesday. Public transportation would mean bus, light rail and more bus, terrible.,
I will give you my e mail address here so we can make arrangements to maybe get together when you are here.. It would be great to meet you. macrich831@gmail.com

Valenzuela denied jockey’s license by California Horse Racing Board
By Steve Andersen Daily Racing Form 07/20/2016
DEL MAR, Calif. – Jockey Patrick Valenzuela has been denied a jockey’s license by the California Horse Racing Board, ending a months-long quest to resume his troubled career on the West Coast.
Wednesday, the racing board announced that it had adopted the recommendation of hearing officer Patrick Kane who proposed Valenzuela be denied a license for repeated violations for substance-abuse issues in his career. Kane recommended that Valenzuela reapply for a license in a year and that he undergo drug and alcohol testing on a weekly basis in the interim.

The horses in Ocala I am worried about as I believe thay are getting a lot of rain, but think a little north of them might get it worse. That’s my way. Oh gosh.

Judy,
Thank you. What a delight! My Muchie looks wonderful and displays a gentle spirit that warms my heart. So glad he still looks slim and trim. Looks as if he could hit the track today. Of course, he always was long, tall and lean. His babies are good looking foals. Appear to be pretty correct and long forever legs.
Have a great holiday weekend.

Dear Shirlee:
MMM does look fit and happy. He’s a gentle soul and I loved the joy on the little girl’s face when she pet him. Glad you enjoyed seeing the video as much as I did. Love and Hugs, JB

September 2 Cherokee Devotional
Who of us does not need to change, even though change scares the daylights out of us? We need change because it renews us and keeps us focused on giving the best we can. Yet, as much as we want to see something new and different, fear of it not being to our liking holds us back. But even if we hold back, nothing ever stays the same. Everything changes. Use it or lose it, as the saying goes.
There is no death. Only a change of worlds.

Dear Kathy.I am always someone who hates change in my routine but I survived moving house and clearing out my old home so it isn’t all bad.Monty was last seen on the Dyfi with Blue at 8.28am yesterday morning so he is well on his way by now.Blue remains this morning heartbroken her man has deserted her once more!A lot of ‘hiraeth’ among Dyfi supporters this morning.Summer’s end.One of the Rutland birds 30(05) has a transmitter and left Tuesday morning 12hrs later she had travelled 323 miles and was in Le Mans.We should have more news in a couple of days. Both the Manton Bay pair remain.Where has the season gone??
A Thousand stars Willie Mullins grey has retired at the age of 12 safe and sound.I hope all are safe in Florida I heard there was an earthquake in New Zealand too.I heard Johanna Konta fainted because of the heat in the US open. She was dizzy and had palpitations she obviously hasn’t seen Poldark!I shall “suffer” for the next 10 weeks Aidan is already filming the 3rd series.
The ratties bisited the White House and have plans for the Rose garden they intend to plant doughnut bushes! Also to turn dad Bill into a law.Max&Mia were well-prepared for the rain with their macs on.It isn’t going to be a great holiday weekend for some in the US.Poor Hovis he will never understand the fairer sex.I loved the description of mother running through the rain.Naughty Herman for deserting our boy.I pray all goes well for Ray this afternoon.Lovely photo of their grandchildren.A delightful family.Hope your Friday goes well.Still no news from Ripley I really hope he is ok.Felix is having a rest.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO

Dear Sheena,
It’s very bittersweet to hear of Monty’s departure. Godspeed! Poor Blue. All alone…My best to all the Rutland birds. Wonder when the Manton Bay pair will leave? Yes, the season has gone so fast. Just unbelievable. I hope A Thousand Stars has a very happy retirement. I hope all will be safe in the storms, earthquakes and heat. I’m trying to imagine the White House with bushes surrounding it with doughnuts growing on them. Funny stuff! Turn dad Bill into a law??? Maybe he’s studying to become an attorney? Max & Mia looked adorable in their rain slickers. Such adorable dogs! My heart breaks for everyone going through such hardships right now. We continue to be dry in the extreme. It’s really crazy. Hovis along with many other males will never understand women. That was an hilarious description of Mother running through the rain. Thank you in advance for your prayers for Ray. They are wonderful people and we cherish their friendship. I wish you a terrific Friday and weekend ahead. Hopefully we get news from Ripley soon. Have a good rest, Felix. Tomorrow I’ll be posting the Devotionals for 3 days. Steve is leaving this afternoon for Silent Valley. I work tomorrow but will go up there probably on Sunday so I’m not arriving in the dark. Will come home Monday after breakfast. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

September 3
Every person I meet today is going to have some special quality I cannot see. I must take it for granted that my eyes, as good as they are, are limited to what is tangible-to what anyone can see. What I need to know is that I also have inner eyes that can see beyond the boundaries of skin and bone to what lies within. Eyes do not have to be para-normal to see another’s heart and soul. The inner eye is of the heart. See with the eyes of spirit and be wise to tender feelings and emotions.
I know the Great Spirit is looking down upon me from above, and will hear what I say.
-Sitting Bull, Sioux
September 4
Early morning fog hangs in a gauzy gray curtain all through the woods, and it can hang in the mind the same way. Even though it has no substance, fog obscures the very things that should be seen. Risk exists in blindness, not so much in physical blindness as in blindness of the heart. Those who are unable to see with their eyes are usually highly developed in other important areas that easily surpass normal vision. Colton put it aptly, “Men are born with two eyes, but only one tongue, in order that they may see twice as much as they say.” A blind heart says too much and hears nothing. Ears that truly hear and eyes that truly see are very great blessings regardless of whether the hearing and seeing are physical or spiritual.
It is our desire that we be of one heart, having a mutual love and regard for each other.
-Kanickhungo, Iroquois
September 5
“Any good thing you can say to me shall not be forgotten.” These are the words of the great Comanche chief, Ten Bear. Ten Bear had been promised many things by Washington chiefs, but none of the promises had been fulfilled. He wanted to believe what he heard, but he knew in his heart that Washington wanted something he had, and they made great pledges to get it-with no intention of honoring those pledges.
A promise is serious business. It is a contract based on honor, whether it is written or verbal, and it cannot be held too highly. It is said that a politician thinks of the next election; a statesman of the next generation. Ten Bear was a statesman, but men in Washington-sadly-were not.
We were the first here, us Aboriginals.

Dear Sheena,
Gosh, your weather is so changeable. Poor Blue, pining for Monty. Sorry for the riders and of course the horses at Burghley. May they all be safe! Larry is a wealth of information. Yes, the epicenter of the earthquake was near Shawnee, OK. Not a state you associate with a lot of earthquakes, usually. Haven’t heard of anyone being killed. Lots of damage to the building, though. Goodness, those ospreys are so entertaining. Safe travels, 30! That’s very exciting for Her Majesty to have a winner at Ascot. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers of Ray’s behalf. I know the chemo will be very hard on him but we have to focus on the desired end result. I’m looking forward to getting away. I think it’s very important on what took place in the past. Yes, a surprise back in 1940! My precious Holly’s birthday is coming up soon. Her first one in heaven. Gosh, I miss her so much. Happy Saturday.
