On Friday, August 12, Zenyatta was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Team Z attended the ceremony at the Fasig-Tipton sales pavilion, and owners Jerry and Ann Moss accepted the award on Zenyatta’s behalf.
We toured the museum and met a number of fans who were in town for the festivities. Fans watched the ceremony live from our “Belles of the Hall” viewing party that was complete with mini horse versions of Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra. View the “Belles of the Hall” recap here.

Believe Frosted may be in a race next weekend. Love all these wonderful races right now. Sure could be a good Breeders Cup this year.

Dear Peggy:
Believe Frosted is going in the Woodward next Saturday at the Spa. Godspeed beautiful boy. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Judy, We might have to promise he can have a nice sleep after the race. Know how he loves his sleeping. Such a beautiful sight

Dear Z Fans:
OMG, Mikey and Arrogate just put on a “clinic” in the ever fastest Traver’s ever. Won by 12. Wow, wow, wow. Congrats to both of them. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. That was some ride by Mike. Liked his comment after the race that Arrogate looks just like his sire. Great grays!
Pretty good tv coverage with stretch replays of the other main races. Another good sight was Keen Ice flat out sleeping in his stall. Loved that.
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Wasn’t it a wonderful win! I like Mikey so much; he said he rode “his father” and he truly loves horses and always has a special place for horses that he’s ridden to victory in the past (as we know so well). Great win by Arrogate and great ride by Mike.
Oh, I missed Keen Ice sleeping. Will have to see if I can find the video. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
Totally agree with your comments about Mike. He is all class.
Not sure that there is a video of Keen Ice in his stall. It was part of the NBC coverage. He looked so serene lying on his side on the straw. Very peaceful. A horse must feel secure to do that.
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
No, that means I won’t be able to find the video of Keen Ice sleeping. Yes, he must feel happy and secure. That’s a very good thing. Love and Hugs, JB
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Max, I saw that of Keen Ice asleep in his stall. Such a wonderful sight.
shirleeinindy
Hope Arrogate stays sound. One of the TV commentators remarked that his sire could pass on some soundness issue.
Love the picture of Keen Ice and that he seems healthy and back in training.
Ann NC
Wow, wow, wow! Congrats to , Team Arrogate. Arrogate sure has an interesting face.
Nothing better than a big ole fluffy bed of fresh straw and a sleeping horse. That’s great they showed Keen Ice.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Judy, Wonderful win by Mike and Arrogate. Watch out Breeders Cup

Dear Shirlee and Z Fans:
I think, as usual, the TC schedule and all the Stakes races that follow are a grueling schedule for our beloved TBs. Exaggerator, Creator, Mohaymen, Gun Runner, Nyquist and all the rest of the this year’s three year old crop gave it their all and their best. Time for some well deserved R and R. Love all of them. Hope Stadivari is doing well. Have not been able to find any recent updates on him. Love and Hugs, JB

Arrogate Blazes to Travers Record
By Claire Novak, The Blood-Horse August 27, 2016
What a difference a year makes for Bob Baffert.
Last season the Hall of Fame trainer saw Triple Crown winner American Pharoah defeated for the first time in his 3-year-old campaign by Keen Ice, with a brutal beat in the Travers Stakes (gr. I).
This year Baffert showed up with Juddmonte’s Arrogate—a colt previously untested in graded stakes competition—and blew the 3-year-old division apart with the fastest Travers performance in history, and a new track record for 1 1/4 miles at Saratoga Race Course.
With Mike Smith in the irons, Arrogate set quick fractions and then opened up by daylight off the final turn. The son of Unbridled’s Song blazed under the wire in a final time of 1:59.36.

God Bless Lady E; a good second after a long lay off and all she’s been through. Congrats to Strike Charmer and Junior A. Love and Hugs, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Judy B.,
Thanks for the tip on NYRA.com! I was able to watch Race 12 (the Ballston Spa) after the Travers. I got to see Lady Eli run a really good race — I thought she was in the clear, and then Strike Charmer came on like gang-busters with an amazing track record. Good ride by Junior Alvarado.
Hugs and Love
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Marshall:
So glad you got to watch the race. Love the new NYRA site with the live races and replays too.
I thought Lady E was magnificent in her effort after so long a layoff and Strike Charmer ran an impressive race too. Hope all the horses came back today in good form. Love and Hugs, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Congratulations to all winners at Saratoga today!
Very exciting racing.
I was sad for Lady Eli, but very proud of her to get second in the Ballston. Strike Charmer came up on the outside to grab it away from Lady E. Strike Charmer was running like a bullet and got a track record in addition to the victory.
Hope everyone is well and sound after racing — goodnight and restful slumber to all the beauties!
Hugs and Cheers!

Dear Shirlee, Next time for Exaggerator.

Peggy,
Don’t know if it is much of an excuse for Exaggerator but over on the Forum someone posted that he scoped “dirty.” Mucus and mud!
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee:
Poor baby. He’s got nothing to prove; he’s a warrior. Love and Hugs, JB
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Shirlee, so sorry about that, but Judy is right he has nothing to prove. He is just fantastic already.
This reminds me of something. Do you remember General Quarters trained by the late Tom McCarthy. Mr McCarthy said after GQ ran in the Derby that he came back with mud just caked in his eyes. He sounded really worried about him and I respected this man so much. Thought he was a very good trainer.
I saw General Quarters at Hallmarc Stallions in Florida home to Leroidisanimaux before he left for England. General Quarters looked just fantastic in retirement. Yep I checked his eyes out and they looked Fantastic. The Groom told me that he was his favorite horse there. The best to work with. I got to pet him a bunch. You can really tell when the horses have been taken good care of. So relieved to see it when they come out of racing healthy.
shirleeinindy
Peggy,
Yes, I remember General Quarters. Mr. McCarthy really loved him.

There are many different kinds of success-and some are more important than others. There was once a wise farmer who was very successful in the planting and harvesting of his crops. But his success did not stop there. He not only cultivated his fields, he also cultivated his family ties. Be believed his family was worthy of cultivation, and he reaped a rich harvest of love and respect. He was conscious that the required behavior was not born within him, so he cultivated the good, the true, and the beautiful. Was this gift his alone? No, the whole family-and yes, the whole world-grew richer and richer.
Why will you take by force what you may obtain by love?

I know the odds of especially_horses reading this are slim but I felt compelled to reply to something you posted about me in the forum section. You copy and pasted a comment I made on bloodhorse and not only completely misunderstood, but mildly mocked me. In actuality, I don’t have any problem separating a pet from a business like you somehow inferred. How about responding to me directly rather than gossiping about me on another site? If you have a problem, approach me, don’t go running away to a different site. I enjoy your knowledge and I’ve been following this site since it first came up, but frankly, you’re way off base in this instance. Talk to me if you don’t agree, don’t copy and paste while pointing out how I’m wrong when I actually agree with what you’re saying.

If you want to know why you are at odds with someone, think how people work from the brain. Some work from the left side of the brain, analytical and methodical, using reason and logic. Others work from the right side-creative and outside the limits of logic and reason. These two types may have no idea why their opposite sounds so unreasonable and even unreal. To the right side nothing is unreal. The invisible just waits to become visible. But to the left-sider the right-sider lacks strategy and order and consistency. He can’t even lie straight in the bed.
We are different. Many things may fit together like a hand in glove, and twice that many may have to be thrashed out. But our willingness to see, our ability to give another person room to explain why his thoughts are different can avoid many a collision. Both need to have wisdom to understand-and to forgive.
Too much of our thought only leads to trouble.

Dear Kathy:I did one of those tests on FB last night it said I was magical but mad!!A lovely day for our Bank holiday promises a fairly decent week too.I put in a post for our beloved Joey including that famous quote from Mark Twain about cats not being a slave of the leash. There will never be another Joey he was a complete one-off and taken from us far too soon.Poor Dolly meowmie broke her feel good cup she has got another but it doesn’t seem the same!Monty is now home alone only caught 9 fish last week including those 2 whoppers.I think Blue is still there so far.The youngsters are still at Glaslyn W7 looks so fit and well now.It always amazes me how these chicks only get to fish for themselves when they migrate and how on earth do they know where to go?Judy and Nay have been away again but Mattie and Cody had a great party.Donna has made Mango the most beautiful dresses for her trip to CA.No treats for Felix quiet at the station today.Mother Theresa was at Lords Saturday watching the cricket the children(MP’s)will be back at school soon. She has a cabinet meeting this week to discuss Brexit.I am sure Larry will be involved..Betsy is having a great time at her new home and eating so well despite all those injuries to her mouth.Poor Lilly had to lose her leg though she had been shot.Let me know about Ray’s results.I pray for good news.I told the ratties no turtling for me today! You have a good day in your sock though.I heard there are storms heading for Florida. Is’nt it the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina today?Love and hug to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO

Dear Sheena,
Sorry, didn’t get to respond earlier. Had to go to the store for my aunt before work. You mad??? Never! Enjoy your holiday. We get next Monday off, Labor Day. Yes, Joey stands alone. Such a shame we didn’t have him longer. I’m dreading March 8th, would have been my precious Holly’s 15th birthday. I miss her so much, Sheena. The Dyfi must seem like a ghost town. Judy and Nay sure have been traveling a lot. Mango has some gorgeous clothes, bless her. Poor Felix, no treats. Mother Theresa has a crazy schedule now. She’s lucky to have Larry to help her. Sorry Lilly lost her leg. I will let you know about Ray’s test results. You’re lucky not to have to turtle! I hope they’re safe in FL. I think Katrina occurred in July if I remember correctly. Have a great day. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

I will never, ever catch up but WOW! What a day of racing at Saratoga on Saturday. Just LOVED how Flintshire broke through despite being initially boxed in again. I just can’t keep all of the BC races straight in my head, but I hope that he and Tepin are not headed for the same race. Arrogate really surprised almost everyone with that unbelievable run (although I supposed we should have figured that Bob B wouldn’t have shipped him all the way to New York if he didn’t think there was a chance for something like that). Note to self: Just because the horse hasn’t run in a stakes race before, don’t count him out! I think that one of the TV announcers said that he wouldn’t count out ANYBODY that Mike Smith was riding :-) and didn’t Mike have a great day? Will be interesting to see Frosted return in the Woodward. I haven’t heard about any other possible contenders yet.
In case Max is reading, I saw your reply about Za Approval’s retirement, but it was too far back for me to respond. I AM happy that his career was so successful – I just wished that he could have had one more win before he retired. My Florida relatives were visiting here last week (one reason I am a bit out of touch here) and assured me that they will transport me to Ocala to see him if I can get permission to visit the farm.
Glad to hear all of Sue Noel’s good news about the horses. Barnaby moving back into his OWN bed is really cute. OK – have to start readjusting to my normal pretty boring life :-)

You may be in luck. Za will be at Live Oak Stud in Florida. I think that they allow visits. If you go, let us know how he’s doing. I love that gray.
Flintshire will probably contest the Breeders Cup Turf. Tepin if she’s successful at Woodbine would be headed to the Turf Mile like Wise Dan. It’s no sure thing for Flintshire in the Turf. He will probably have to face some of the Euro horses whom he came to the US to avoid. And no pacemakers.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Thanks, Max! Whew! Glad that they won’t be in the same BC race. I forgot about all of the Euro horses who come over to run in the BC Turf. Maybe Flintshire has toughened up enough to hold his own.
Max
Last year, the Arc winner, Golden Horn, was beaten by a girl in that race. She had not done so well herself in the Arc, but Found rebounded to win the Turf. Anything can happen. I hope Tepin wins at Woodbine. There are likely to be lots of Euro invaders for that race. Her trainer however knows the EP Taylor track well.
