On Friday, August 12, Zenyatta was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Team Z attended the ceremony at the Fasig-Tipton sales pavilion, and owners Jerry and Ann Moss accepted the award on Zenyatta’s behalf.
We toured the museum and met a number of fans who were in town for the festivities. Fans watched the ceremony live from our “Belles of the Hall” viewing party that was complete with mini horse versions of Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra. View the “Belles of the Hall” recap here.

Elizabeth in NM
Dear Kathy,
We definitely pray for rain for SoCal! We lived in Southern California for several years in the 1980’s and up to early 1990’s. We LOVE California! I remember when we lived in the San Diego area and the Central Valley, we had lots of rain. Back then, there were lots of fruit tree farms; and the groves lined the highway on either side of the pass into LA. Now, years later when we drive through California, the Central Valley is like the ‘dust-bowl’ days. So sad that the farmers and other citizens are not able to access water for crops (and now there is water-rationing, since the water has been diverted). Not sure what the environmental reason is. Whatever it is, it has got to affect the whole Central Valley area (which doesn’t look anything like it did – with lush fruit and vegetables growing for miles on either side of the highway), and now many of the farms are now gone along with some (or many – not sure) of the farms that went up to the pass from the north of LA and into LA. Not sure how or where we get all of our vegetables and fruit now at the grocery store, but we’ve been praying for rain for CA for a long time. We have family living in there (and would pray about this anyway since we lived there and have seen the changes; and we ‘love’ CA). We will definitely keep praying.
with love, Elizabeth

We see certain things happen, and they enrich or drain us of all hope. How like the old Indian Chief Lone Wolf. He heard the night bird’s clear song at the midnight hour, and he rose up from his deathbed totally well. The bird sang of good life and the old chief heard it. Listen for such a song in your own heart. You may experience your own miracle and rise like the phoenix out of the ashes of your life to become a new person. Life is filled with mysteries, like the recovery of Lone Wolf. Mysteries are often subtle and move quietly into our lives. Spirit does not shout to us, but what a wonderful thing when we hear Him whisper. Spirit’s whisper is the very breath of life, the holiness of a moment of truth. Listen and hear it.
Sometimes dreams are wiser than waking.

Hi Everybody, Does anyone know what happened to the Race Horse Rahy’s Attorney. Have just lost track of him. He was at Woodbine and was suppose to go to Florida to learn how to be a Stable Pony. Liked him very much. Has anyone heard any news on him.
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Peggy:
I did some checking on Rahy’s Attorney and on his Thoroughbred Pedigree Query chart, it’s noted that as of 2014 he is an Outrider Mount at Keeneland Race Course. Don’t know when this note was added to his chart or if he is still working as a Pony there or at a different race track. I’m including the note from his chart below. Love and Hugs, JB

What do you guys think about Creator’s chances in the Travers. He has Irad, on board. (Should say the Red Hot Irad)
I am pulling for Gun Runner, but worried about that outside post. Think Creator and Exaggerator are great.
Judy, I emaied you. What do ya think………………………..
shirleeinindy
Peggy,
I am worried about my boy, Exaggerator, with Irad out there on Creator. Doing my rain dance. Swore after the retirement of Mucho Macho Man, Lea and AP I was not going to fall in love again. Well as Brittany said, “I Did It Again!” Along came Exaggerator and Song Bird, Chrome came roaring back, Upstart, Far From Over and Keen Ice got well and I’m off again. Would be nice to watch some of the races with out my stomach in a knot over their safety.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Shirlee, best of luck wishes to your boy Exaggerator. Saw him in a video this morning also. Wow did he look good.
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Peggy:
As you know, like Shirlee, I am an Exaggerator fan. However, I also love Creator and I’m thinking he can pull an upset. This is a tough one because I do like Gun Runner, Destin, Governor Malibu and Laoban; safe and sound all horses and riders. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Judy, So many good one’s in this race.

OMG, It is nervous stomach again. Just read “Love the Chase” will go for Sale in November. In Foal to Tapit. Just so hope this pretty girl stays stateside. So we can keep closer track of her and her youngsters. Respect the Japanese so much now and think they have some wonderful horses. And other countries too. I know the Japanese are wanting to strengthen their broodmare band, but you Dear Girl “Love the Chase” so hope you stay close to us. So praying someone will step up here and purchase you and you can stay here in the US. Love You.
Elizabeth in NM
Dear Peggy,
Understand how you want Love The Chase to stay here in the U.S., especially since she’s with foal. We lived in Japan for a year for my husband’s job. The people were wonderful, kind and thoughtful. It’s a tough call, I can only imagine, for her owners. But I too hope she stays here in the U.S., especially since she’s in a more ‘tender’ condition. Keeping her and her foal in my prayers. with love, Elizabeth

Dear Sandy,
I heard you mention the other day that you would like to see Za Approval. Me too. I just love him dearly. We will have to find out if they will let him have visitors.
I was going to tell you, I am a big fan of the Big Beast too. He is in Ocala too. I would like to see him too. I asked a girl that I was talking too earlier in the year at the OBS sale about Ocala Stud where he is at. She told me where it was at and she talked good about my chances of getting to see him there. Hope to get back there and see some of these guys.

We have rain here in New Mexico tonight…YAY! Just about 30 minutes ago, the baby roadrunner arrived ‘just’ before dark and is ‘roosted’ in the cedar tree for the night. I don’t think he understands his ‘surrogate human parents’ were ‘waiting’ for him to get to bed before dark. We were just about to come in the house when he arrived and hopped up to near the top of the cedar tree. I don’t think roadrunners understand
‘curfew’! Zenny and Family, hope everyone has a wonderful evening.

Love all the photos of the Hall of Fame ceremonies. As I’m sure many others have done, I started counting the days from Z’s retirement to when she was eligible for the HOF, as I was sure she would be inducted on her first eligibility. So happy for Team Zenyatta and those of the team who could not be there. Somewhere Steve Willard is smiling. Thank you Ann and Jerry for making room in your lives for all of Z’s fans and for allowing us to share the many milestones in Z’s life. The podcast was great and was a happy stroll down memory lane. So many memories and still more to come. Looking forward to that Medaglia d’Oro foal next spring. Hugs and love to all at Lane’s End.

The last few weeks of anything seem to take longer than all the time that has gone before. The last few weeks of summer are the hottest and driest, and it seems like forever before we get the rain we need. Not unlike waiting for the baby, we know it is going to be joyous but to the mother, those last few weeks are heavy and stressful.
Suddenly everything changes in a moment’s time. It moves so quickly we can’t quite grasp all the details. We have prepared, we think, and we are ready-we hope-but here it is and what do we do now? Being prepared is quite different from what we suppose. We have hoped and wished and prayed, but we stand totally awed until we have had time to digest it. The heavy little shower came in the heat of summer and was gone before we could listen and taste and record the details in our minds. Ready? Never quite ready-but willing to take it and be grateful as it comes.
Do the right thing and everything goes fine; do the wrong thing and everything is a mess.

Dear Kathy. We don’t have to wait long for rain in Wales! Very sultry here this afternoon though. They are on Tegid Watch on the Dyfi I think he’s gone but they aren’t sure Stunning photo of Blue at dawn on the camera pole.Only mum and dad left at Rutland enjoying some “me” time on the nest.KP2 is left with his dad at Lowes.

The pic of Diane after Strudel’s bath was too funny! Yes, it was National Dog Day yesterday. My two spent the day getting their beauty sleep for the most part…kind of like every other day! lol Vegetables campaigning…a little different. Per Bloodhorse, the Travers is on NBC TV from 4:30 to 6.
Safe trip to all of them but especially my boy, Exaggerator. I’m really worried about an upset!
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Shirlee,
Thanks for the heads-up! I was hoping that they would carry the Personal Ensign and maybe the Ballston Spa Handicap, also — or that NBCSN would broadcast some of the undercard races, but alas, they have only car races — Boo, Hiss!
I will be tuned in at 4:30 for the Travers though.

Dear Marshall:
If NBC doesn’t broadcast other than the Travers, you can watch all the races at Saratoga on NYRA.com and registration is free. The Ballston is Race 12 and goes at 6:20. Lady Eli is the favorite at Even money. Love and Hugs, JB
