Zenyatta’s War Front foal is almost here, and we thought we’d add a little fun to the wait. From now through April 1, we invite you to guess the date and time, to the minute, that 14Z will arrive. The person with the closest guess (without going over) will receive an 11″ x 14″ print of the new foal signed by the photographer and Zenyatta’s owners, Jerry and Ann Moss. The winner will be announced following the birth of the foal.
This official Zenyatta.com contest was inspired by the unofficial contest that is taking place in the “Zenyatta’s Waiting Room 2014” Forum discussion.
Enter your guess below. Upon entry you will receive a confirmation email from us. This contest is open to Zenyatta fans worldwide. Please note that we will only accept one entry per person. Multiple entries will disqualify you from the contest.
Happy guessing!

I think the coreopsis are Hovis’s dreaded yellow flowers!
Max
Kathy. That plant is native to NA but it is not seen in the UK, as far as I know. Hovis has mentioned that the yellow perils are daffodils. Daffs are abundant in the UK in spring. They are a beautiful sight in towns and in the countryside. Hovis is also suspicious of crocuses. He thinks that they are “creepy.”
Kathy
Max,
Thanks. Sounds like Hovis’s daffs are a wild variety. I would love to see that! We have a wild variety of irises that I just love, the Dutch iris.Yes, I remember he’s suspicious of crocuses. What a funny boy.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Kathy.Ah,the “yellow perils!Did you see the video on Joey’s FB of the giraffe kissing the dying man?Made me feel even sadder for poor Marius. It’s 7yrs today since I lost Katie,a day I will never forget,is also my Aunty Nancy’sbirthday, have been up with flowers for her grave,is in a little village outside of town.So many memories today.
Zoe is looking forward to Christmas, only 9 months to go!!!She’s such a cutie.Fubu missed his vet’s appt yesterday again, don’t understand what’s going on there.Maybe the bills??What did you think of Marty’s stand-in?I was glad to see the real thing back safe and sound after such a lovely vacation!Hugs to You,Kisses for the Puppy Pack.Sheena
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Yes, that was an extremely touching video. I agree…the loss of Marius still breaks my heart. Giraffes are such gentle beings. A special hug to you today as you remember your beloved Katie and your Aunty Nancy. Zoe is a doll. Love that little girl. Fubu is a gorgeous cat. That is a mystery about the missed vet appointment. I much prefer the real Marty. Loved the pic of him at the beach. Have a good day. Take good care of yourself. Hugs from me, kisses from The Pack. Kathy

Max – Wise Dan is one of my favorites too. I look forward to his next race.
Max
Rosemary. Love Danny. I like his whole family too. Hoping his bro, Successful Dan, gets his grade 1 win this year. Sister Enchanting Lisa is a good racer too. Go Danny!
Terry Crow
How can you not be a fan of Wise Dan. He is the epitome of a racehorse.
shirleeinindy
Thanks for the heads up Ann about sweet Lea. He has had a nice rest so hope he does well.
Here in Indy it has snowed one minute and the sun has shone another. Really cold with a temp right now at 17. Endless winter.
Of course it will be really warm Friday night. Heard one of the U of L fans say on TV that the last Kentuckian across the bridge on Friday should turn off the lights ’cause there won’t be anybody at home in the state.
Ann NC
Cute story, Shirlee. Good luck to all of these great teams!

Dear Ann:
Thanks for this info on Lea and Wise Dan. Go Chess Club Go! Love and Hugs, JB
Terry Crow
Marshall was probably the inspiration for Thunder Road. At the close of last year, Wise Dan’s connections indicated that they were going to try him more on dirt this year. He has never run a bad race on that surface and it would be interesting to see him go up against a horse such as Much Macho Man in a big dirt race. His credentials on turf are unmatched.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.Happy to hear Wise Dan is doing great,he’s wintered well.Silviniaco Conti came out of Cheltenham so well,he’s going in the Betfred Bowl at Aintree. There’s a major snowstorm heading for Nissy’s tomorrow! His blog has reached 100,000 hits today not bad for a cat!! Free the Moose!Sheena.
Max
Sheena. I’m thrilled to hear about Dan. He is a beautiful red beast when he sees the track and tears it right up. He’s amazing. Go Danny!
I had not heard about Silvi, but I did read some news about Sire. He’s skipping Aintree and may go to Sandown. Check out the photos of Sire in the English papers. His ears are gigantic. I love a good set of ears on a horse.
News here is that Zayat has pulled all of his horses from Asmussen. He’s very upset about all of it, but especially about Nehro. He said that he was in love with that horse. Nehro was his favorite. This story is hard to take.
Also just heard that the Danish zoo which killed Marius has now killed some of their lions including cubs. Sad!
I may be one of the 100 K as I have checked out your favorite cat blog a few times. Nissy is quite the writer. He needs however to go under cover and ride out that storm. Hope his peeps have supplies at the ready.
Free the Moose. Neigh!
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.Yes,SDG is a beautiful horse,he prefers softer ground so we will have to hope for April showers. There is a lovely video of a giraffe on Joey the garden cat’s facebook, very touching. What on earth is wrong with that Danish zoo??
Good on the Zayats for removing their horses I believe Stonestreet have as well so sad to hear our beloved horses are treated in such a manner.
Have you visited Kauto today, wonderful sketch by Darren of him with his hooves full of flowers for Laura(it’s Mothering Sunday in the UK this week)!I hope Nissy’s peeps have a good stock of catfood(they have 10)!Have heard it’s snowing in West Virginia(another cat I follow)!! We’ve been promised wetter winters(no change there then!) and hotter summers we can but hope.Free the Moose.Sheena.
Max
Sheena. Yes, I saw that drawing of Kauto. I had thought that the flowers were for his real mom, Kauto Relka. However, sadly she passed away in 2009, following an injury to her spine in her paddock in France. We will have to wish Kind a good day on Sunday.
I did read that Nissy is one of 10 cats. Wow! He says that his peeps can sometimes be useless. Nissy seems to have a similar attitude to his peeps as Hovis? There are fewer creatures who are more superior in attitude than a cat, except maybe a little black Scottie. They think that they are superior to everyone.
Free the Moose! Neigh!
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.I didn’t know about Kauto’s mother.Yes,Kind is wonderful,I still haven’t heard about this year’s foal,it would have been another full- sibling to Frankel, funny it hasn’t been mentioned on his blog.Nissy has a great attitude Mouses!typical of the feline, having owned many cats I should know.Free the Moose!Sheena.

It’s so good to be back on the blog! I’ve been away for way too long. I don’t know where to begin! First and foremost, of course, is Zenny. This is such a cool contest. I picked April 12 in honor of my dear friend Brenda, who passed away on that day, at 10:14 pm, which is my birthday.
I love this time of year with all the babies and, of course, the basketball! I’m a huge Kentucky basketball fan, just like you, Shirleeinindy. I love your comment about the last Kentuckian crossing the bridge. Go Cats! I’m so proud of our boys and girls. Congrats to Barbara Woods’ Baylor Bears, both boys and girls, and to Sue F’s Badgers. Sandy and Marshall, I’m sorry about your Dukies and Tarheels, but Virginia is doing the ACC proud.
Kathy, I love your jokes! They made me laugh out loud.
I’ve always said that it’s amazing the way that Zenyatta has brought people together and made people do things they never dreamed they’d do before. I signed up to do something Saturday that I never, ever thought I would do, all because of our Queen. There’s a half marathon race called RunTheBluegrass this Saturday and I signed up for it only because everyone who finishes gets a bronze Zenyatta medallion! Now mind you, I have never done anything like this before in my life. I’m not, and never have been, a runner, but they said it’s OK if I walk and I signed up for the half of the half marathon. Now that it’s getting closer I’m starting to wonder what in the world have I signed up for, but it should be fun. It starts at Keeneland and you get to walk around Calumet and Stonestreet farms and a few others. Maybe I’ll see Rachel! Wish me luck, Dumplings!

March 26 Cherokee Devotional
To be convinced that we are not alone in whatever place or situation we find ourselves is to have wisdom-exceptional wisdom. But when that wisdom is there and nothing can shake it, a need to share is strong. Everybody doesn’t have the gift because everyone doesn’t want it. Some can’t even believe that anyone else has it. So, we should never try to convince them. If we are convinced, then, that is sufficient evidence, and other things will add to it as we go along. The Great Spirit speaks to us in sweet languages, so unique we cannot miss the import of what is said. To receive such a gift can change a situation from deep fear to one of total contentment and love.
I heard the mockingbird singing in the moonlight. I knew that moment that I would get well.

Dear Sheena,
I’m concerned that Fubu has lost 3 pounds. That’s a LOT for a small animal. I wonder if the vet is trying a highly nutritious, high calorie food in tube form. Doesn’t look good, Sheena. Prayers for Fubu and his little friend in the UK. Loved the pics of Marty eating his pasta and cake. Will look for Zack the Maltese. I agree about the Zoeisms being particularly great. Hope some of the other staff will pamper Joey today. Have a good day. Hugs from me, kisses from The Pack. Kathy
