Zenyatta’s War Front foal is almost here, and we thought we’d add a little fun to the wait. From now through April 1, we invite you to guess the date and time, to the minute, that 14Z will arrive. The person with the closest guess (without going over) will receive an 11″ x 14″ print of the new foal signed by the photographer and Zenyatta’s owners, Jerry and Ann Moss. The winner will be announced following the birth of the foal.
This official Zenyatta.com contest was inspired by the unofficial contest that is taking place in the “Zenyatta’s Waiting Room 2014” Forum discussion.
Enter your guess below. Upon entry you will receive a confirmation email from us. This contest is open to Zenyatta fans worldwide. Please note that we will only accept one entry per person. Multiple entries will disqualify you from the contest.
Happy guessing!

Well, the Tarheels are out — strange ending to the game involving clock and timeout.
Virginia is our neighbor, Charlottesville and UVa are beautiful, and UVa is a member of our old ACC so I will hope the Cavaliers go all the way! Sure were a lot of upsets today — great day for underdogs! Tennessee is doing very well, and so is Kentucky — congrats to basketball fans who are fellow Z’sters!
Virginia is almost my home state since the stateline was only 2-3 miles from where I grew up, and I pretty much learned how to drive on little back-roads of that lovely state (with my grandfather’s guidance). Good Luck, UVa!!
Hope everyone has a wonderful week! Hugs to All

Met friends at the mall today for coffee and thought of you. Here are some of the snow mounds still in the parking lot. Have to be very careful driving in and out the rows of cars. Lot smaller than they were and a lot dirtier too. Love and Hugs, JB

JudyB. Yes, I know that sight just by looking out of my window. Sun is out today but not sure for how long. Still cold. Was at supermarket this weekend between snow storms and had a good laugh They are getting their garden center ready for set up in the parking lot. Yeah, right!

Take heart. Spring’s got to come sometime. Our forecast has changed (what’s the weather in NE; wait five minutes and it will change). Now snow IS forecast; don’t know how much accumulation expected yet. Love and Hugs, JB

I came across this video tonight, which brought tears to my eyes, for no particular reason — it applies to anyone who has lost a friend, animal or human, at any time. On the singer’s album (Mary Ann Kennedy’s “The Trail Less Traveled”), the song is called “Goodbye”.

Thanks Vicki – really beautiful. As one might guess from the title of the song, you probably don’t want to watch this if you are out in public somewhere.

Thank you, Vicki B. This is just beautiful, bittersweet, but beautiful.
Thanks for sharing this with us. Hugs

Judy, Sandy, and Marshall, you are all welcome. From someone on FB, I learned that it has been posted here before, in the past, but it was new to me, and just as poignant as ever.

Evening walks have a beauty all their own as the sun moves through one phase after another , coloring and shading the fields and woods. Although the air is still wintry at times, the calendar says it is spring-good enough to stir up anticipation. The sunset changes from pale pink touched with gold to lilacs and purples and deep blues. The hills along the horizon have the deepest colors, all shades of Indian gi ga ge the match the red earth, the red skin. Above the darkening shadows, clouds like long tresses of silky hair spread out to the evening star. Everything gives way to that last bit of color, the burning embers that fire the distant hills-and then the velvet hour. Silence reigns. A coyote’s long, thin wail tells the world that night has fallen.
I know every stream and every wood…like my fathers before me, I live happily.

Exciting weekend coming up here in Indy. My Kentucky Wildcats are playing their arch enemies, the Louisville Cardinals. So fortunate to be from Kentucky, a state that has horse racing and such basketball titans!

Dear Zenny–

I am so glad to come here to Zenyatta’s community to lighten my heart after reading so much of the bad happenings in the racing world and the sadness of more equine lives lost.
I find myself in such a turmoil, can’t seem to get it off my mind
.
However, it helps greatly to be among friends and our great and beautiful mare, red prince and soon to arrive 14Z. Thank the Lord Zenyatta was so well cared for during her racing career and now retired and being a wonderful mom. I pray her babies are so fortunate.
Blessings to all Zsters, Team Z, Zenyatta, Cozmic One and red prince.

Dear Sheena,
You’re right, the gay bull one was really funny. Marty’s statement was classic…”Monday?!! Didn’t we just have that?” lol Very nice sunset on Zoe’s page. Boo always looks super dapper. Best of luck to Fubu at the vet’s today. Had lunch with friends yesterday, Audrey was one of them. She is gradually getting back to normal. Still learning what she just can’t do at this point, like reaching up to close the hatchback on her SUV. Have a great day. Hugs from me, kisses from The Pack. Kathy

Condolences to Marshall (all of us ACC followers, other than Virginia, sure had a miserable tournament). Hope Virginia will continue to advance and keep the ACC IN this thing.
Congrats to Debbie G (KY), Barbara Wood (Baylor), Sue F (Wisconsin) and others who are still alive. Wish Baylor and Wisconsin weren’t dueling in the next round :-(.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
Oh, no!!! Sue F. I didn’t know she is a Wisconsin supporter. What about Sally B.?
@Kathy–love the Monday morning humor. I have personal experience of the last one.

Is anyone familiar with a trainer named Arnaud Delacour? I was told he was the trainer for Barbaro’s brother Margano and possibly Pennmarydel. I quite frankly know nothing about him. Thanks for any info you all might have.

Thanks Judy. He must be a really young trainer with only 2 years stats. I have to think he is good or the Jacksons would not have horses with him. Hope Morgano and Penn do well with him. I will really get excited when Penn makes his first start. Also, Lentenor is at a farm right up I-69 from me in Anderson, Indiana and hope to get up to see him this summer.

Snow is forecast for late tomorrow into Wednesday. Accumulation depends on direction the storm takes. Hope Max escapes the worst too. Love and Hugs, JB

JudyB. My forecast is for flurries, but, as TC would say, even when you know, you never know. Flurries seems to mean 1 or 2 inches. Sounds like Sheena’s Nissy is in for a whole lot more of it. Hope it passes you by. Nissy too.
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
They’re now forecasting 1 to 2 inches of snow. Brunt of the storm is supposed to hit the Cape, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. Guess Nissy’s right in the path of it. Hope you escape the worst of it too. Love and Hugs, JB

A herd of Jersey cows feeding in the meadow is reason to think wealth. Their milk is rich and they give lots of it. But there alongside of them is a patch of coreopsis-golden flowers by the thousands. They come again every year and bloom profusely even when a stretch of dry weather persists. Wealth includes many different things to till many different needs. The Cherokees call it nu we hna v i, and to them the most important wealth is that which feeds the spirit-whether it is a field of coreopsis, and bank of oxeye daisies or a clean, flowing creek for good fishing. The cows, the milk, the provision for what we need to live are all important, but the Creator was generous in the necessary things-and then he gave us lots of little extras. The extras may be flowers or moonlight when the whippoorwill calls, or music. But it fills a need almost too deep to explain.
I want to roam the prairies. There I am free and happy.
