Zenyatta’s War Front foal is almost here, and we thought we’d add a little fun to the wait. From now through April 1, we invite you to guess the date and time, to the minute, that 14Z will arrive. The person with the closest guess (without going over) will receive an 11″ x 14″ print of the new foal signed by the photographer and Zenyatta’s owners, Jerry and Ann Moss. The winner will be announced following the birth of the foal.
This official Zenyatta.com contest was inspired by the unofficial contest that is taking place in the “Zenyatta’s Waiting Room 2014” Forum discussion.
Enter your guess below. Upon entry you will receive a confirmation email from us. This contest is open to Zenyatta fans worldwide. Please note that we will only accept one entry per person. Multiple entries will disqualify you from the contest.

Cannot help but tribute a special horse who had his successes at the Dubai World Cup stage. His name was Proud Tower Too. He stands at Tricar Farms as of 2009, he was first retired in 2008, was brought back into training but then ultimately retired.
Proud Tower Too captured my heart and he is one that is never really spoken of. He raced against the top name sprinters during his time. As a three year old, Proud Tower Too won the G1 Malibu Stakes, where I first discovered him. He was hard to miss. A son of Proud Irish – Dora’s Tower, by Irish Tower, this guy had CA all over him. He was a homebred for Tricar Stables and earned $1.7+ million in his career. He was a gorgeous bay colt and his blinker set was unique with the white and green halves
http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/48906/proud-tower-too-retired
In the 2005 Malibu Stakes, Proud Tower Too beat Attila’s Storm and Thor’s Echo. In 2006 he won the Dubai Golden Shaheen over Thor’s Echo, Jet West – he would best Thor’s Echo again that year in the Sensational Star Handicap. Thor’s Echo of course was a $2 million earner, winner of the Breeders Cup Sprint and is now a pony in Dubai for Zabeel Stables http://www.paulickreport.com/features/ottb-showcase/ottb-showcase-thors-echo/
In 2007 he was second to Latent Heat in the San Carlos Handicap and second behind another favorite of mine Smokey Stover in the Sunshine Millions Sprint. And he would be third against Harvard Avenue and Areyoutalkintome in 2007…
Here’s to remembering Proud Tower Too!
Tiz Herself
And tribute to Smokey Stover, another favorite of mine… anyone know where he’s at now? When last I heard, he was at Old Friends, is that still the case?

here’s a video of him working before the Breeders Cup Sprint in 2007
And the 2007 Sunshine Millions Sprint where he bested Proud Tower Too and Bordonaro
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CVJoMJXYfo
He was a son of Put It Back – Milady’s Halo, by Jolie’s Halo. He was owned and trained by Lost in the Fog (always remember LITF!) connections Harry Aleo and Greg Gilchrist
And on the subject of rememberig the Aleo crew that includes Smokey Stover and Lost in the Fog, I will always remember High Resolve too! Also by Put it Back – Shari’s Gold, by On to Glory, High Resolve Was a beautiful gray filly who won the Sunshines Millions Filly and Mare Sprint in 2009 over Dubai Majesty, etc. No replays found but here’s an article on her http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/42059/high-resolve-brings-high-hopes. Unknown her broodmare status as she was barren in 2010 and 2011 as far as I know.

Smokey is actually with my trainer’s friend living a happy life! I’ve never met him, but I hear stories about how awesome he is all the time. His mom is also very nice!

March 30 Cherokee Devotional
Innocent people tend to fall in line behind a person with the magical quality of arousing devotion-even when they do not see the ultimate destination. They simply follow. Their glee in being in a parade makes it seem to bystanders that they are left out if they do not follow too. As painful as it is to admit it, this is the vanguard of massive ignorance. Know what the parade is all about. How sad if we thought we were in the line to get freedom and discovered we were in the slavery line. We have to think for ourselves, as words deceive us unless we know what they mean. Our enemy is not always flesh and blood, but a da lo nu he di, which means deceit in Cherokee, and trouble in any language. Make a point of knowing what and who can be trusted. There are many sources but only one Great Spirit.
Too many have strayed from the path shown to us by the Great Spirit.

Dear Kathy.Had to have plenty of sweet tea to get me “going” this morning our clocks went forward last night for the summer.Poor Marty was frightened of the earffquake, did the earth move for you???It’s Mothering Sunday over here hope the furbabies are on their best behaviour for you.Fubu’s Momma was ill yesterday,I was worried he was so late posting,he did get a lot of treats in the post they were holding an online auction to help her with the vet’s bills.Zoe was enjoying the basketball? last night.Have you seen Ollie’s fluffy love a real cutie!!Have a wonderful Sabbath.Hugs to you,Kisses for the Puppy Pack.Sheena.

Dear Sheena,
Oh, I feel your pain! I HATE it when we go to daylight savings time. It really hurts losing that hour’s sleep!Poor little Marty. Yes, the earth moved for me. I always wonder if there’s more to come after that initial jolt, as in “the big one.” I hope Fubu’s mom feels better. That’s great that people are donating items for auction. Wouldn’t it be great if they raise enough to pay the vet’s bill in full? Zoe and Gizmo…such adorable basketball fans. Yes, I’ve seen Ollie. A real cutie! Have you started visiting Stewart Stanley? He’s very cute and funny. Happy Mother’s Day. Enjoy the day. Hugs from me,kisses from The Pack. Kathy

Dear Sheena, Max, Peggy, Sandy and Z Fans:
Visited Charlie and Hudson yesterday. The weather was mild and cloudy earlier in the afternoon so Deb and Amanda were able to ride for a while. Charlie was once again stymied by the Mini Horses. Alex decided to introduce him up close to Hercules. I think Charlie is finally convinced the Minis, are indeed, horses.
The “needle man” came this past week to give the horses their necessary booster shots and Hudson was an absolute Doll. No hissy fits and no attitude. She even allowed the farrier to lift her feet without a fuss. I think he was in shock; he encouraged Deb and Amanda to continue lifting HT’s feet and tapping on them to get her used to the touch and sound. She will be getting new shoes soon and hopefully that will go well. She was so mellow yesterday that she let me give her a big hug and kiss on her beautiful face. Charlie has no problem with that; he expects it.
Hudson is not above giving one a “love bite” at any given moment. Amanda patiently corrects her.
Everyone enjoyed their treats and soon after these photos were taken, the rains came and all were settled in their stalls. Love and Hugs, JB

Barbara Wood (Texas)
@Marshall (NC broad)–Yes! We are huge Bushwacker fans! It all started some summers ago, when we were channel-surfing to find something to watch. We ended up watching PBR. It just kind of sucked us in (sort of like the Baylor Lady Bears), and we watched for years until they changed the channel they use to CBS Sports, which we don’t get. They did broadcast on regular CBS yesterday, and I have recorded it to watch after all the basketball is over.
I understand people’s misgivings about rodeos in general, but the animals at this level are treated like rock stars. Bushwacker is from Dublin, TX, northeast of here, and we were fortunate to see him in person once. Every year, one of the announcers, JW Hart, has a charity event near his ranch in Decatur, TX, that features the bulls and riders. We saw Bushwacker there in the pen, and he literally “mooo’ed” the whole time. It was as if he was saying, “Let’s get on with it”. He was too cute. Of course, the rider was bucked off.
Marshall (NC broad)
Dear Barbara,
What a thrill to see Bushwacker in person! I had gathered that these bulls were treated very well, too, as well they should be. Your channel-surfing experience was rather the same as mine. I happened upon the PBR program and was fascinated by how each bull has his own moves and by how high they can leap!
So Bushwacker participates in the charity events, too. Wow, what a guy!!
Hugs and Lots of Love

I forgot to say:
Big Congratulations to your Lady Bears!! Way to go!

I watched the professional bull riding too and really loved Bushwacker! Kinda sad it is his farewell tour. I can’t remember his name but he looked like he jumped six feet straight up in the air – the announcers called him Bushwackers maybe replacement! The cowboy didn’t last long. Anybody planning on attending the Sunflower Cluster Dog Shows this weekend in Wichita? Our day is Sunday. Stop by and say hi!

Dear Debbie:
First you have to upload your photo (form your computer) to a photo sharing site. I’ve been using Dropshots.com. Sign up is free and uploading is free. Then once you’ve done that you click on the photo and the image description shows up in your address bar. You then hold down the Control key and the letter “c” key simultaneously and then release both. The address line will be highlighted. Then in another window access Z’s Blog, post your comment and then hold down the Control Key and the “v” key simultaneously and let go of both and the link to your photo should print out. Hope this helps. Love and Hugs, JB

Sheena. Maybe Moosie takes after his mother, Shehollystar? She was unraced. Cecil always said that the mother always has the most profound effect upon the foal. Moosie’s breeder also bred his mother. Looks like Moose came from a stable family. He’s also owned and trained by the best. You just can never predict what will happen. Moosie’s highly independent.
Saw that photo of Bruce. He looks content.
Good heavens if TB is being spread that way. It is vital to give animals good medical care. Today on the way home from walking to Stars, I met a dog walker with four black dogs on their leashes. You could tell that these were highly pampered dogs because their walker works on Sundays and they looked well fed and groomed. He told me that they were all well behaved on this day anyway. They were expecting rewards.
I’m so used to this winter that I wonder what will happen if it ever does go away. No signs yet. Hope all goes well for Nissy.

Sheena. Happy birthday in advance to the aunties. Are Nissy and the other nine cats are rescue cats? Nissy seems to campaign for other cats.
Although it has been known to snow in July, but lightly and melt right away, summers are not so bad. Word is that this year might see a delay. Spring is as yet non existent. Summers can be hot and humid. Races have been cancelled at Aqueduct and other tracks because of the heat. Too hot for the horses.
Cecil always did right by Frankel and all of his horses. No one should ever question him on why and how he handled Frankel. He retired healthy. Now it looks like he has a very good life. Bullet Train also seems to have a good life. Kind has raised a wonderful family.

Have been away from the blog the past couple of days as we had a “moderate” earthquake here. It was centered in La Habra, but if you walk across the street from where I live you are in La Habra. There have been about 300 after shocks since the quake hit on Friday night. My poor little dog has been beside himself. Fortunately, no damage here but others were not as lucky. @Debbie-Great accomplishment. You should be proud.

Terry this is to You and Max, you know we were talking about Secretariat yesterday. I have an 8xl0 of his walk over for the Belmont Stakes with Eddie. I believe it and the one of him as a baby are my very favorites of him. I have the movie and have to sit down and watch it again. Could watch it over and over again. That Belmont win just one for the ages.
Max
Peggy. Big Red is remarkable. He could race on any surface and set records. That Belmont win is my favorite. Amazing then and amazing now.
Terry Crow
I only have two complaints about the movie. Riva Ridge did not even get credit. It was he that literally saved the farm. Also, Eddie Sweat did not get a mention.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Terry
Those are my two complaints too.
Max
I thought Eddie had a rather prominent role in the Secretariat movie? It showed him with Red throughout the movie. I remember a scene where he shouted to the world that Red had eaten up his breakfast and great things were to come in the KD. He was also in the final scenes at the Belmont. Did I dream all that?
Terry Crow
You are correct. His character was in the movie. However, the man himself was never mentioned. If you didn’t know who he was, you wouldn’t have known who he was.
Peggy (N) South Georgia

Hi Terry. Sorry about your earthquakes and aftershocks. Made me wonder about the horses stabled at the tracks. Is there ever a big problem with them? Like do they freak out? Possibly an injury? I can’t even imagine what it would be like to be in one! When you can’t even trust the ground you’re standing on…… We had an obedience judge and his wife at our Sunflower Cluster Dog Show a few years ago from San Diego. We had a severe thunderstorm the first night they were there and they told us earthquakes were nothing but cloud to ground lightning scared them to death! Guess its what you are used to.

Find it interesting that Cairo Prince is so far down the list. Could he be in trouble?
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear TC GP:
If the 20 horses that make it to the Derby are determined by points accumulated through finishing First, Second, Thrid or Fourth, then I guess it will depend on what happens in the remaining Derby Preps. Horses could get shuffled around and the ones with a lot of points are more secure, barring injury, in holding their place in the top 20. Here’s an article on Cairo Prince and an explanation of the way points are calculated. Love and Hugs, JB
http://www.kentuckyderby.com/news/2014/03/30/mclaughlin-disappointed-cairo-princes-florida-derby
Terry Crow
Godolphin bought into Cairo Prince apparently because they thought he was a lock to make the Derby. At this moment in time, doesn’t look that way. They are apparently hoping that some of the horses who are already in win the big races that are left. A thin premise to base your hopes on. The points system has caught a lot of trainers in its web.

Dear TC GP:
Yes, you’re right. Looks like Cairo Prince may be in trouble. Even when you know, you never know. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Terry
What do you think about California Chrome?
Terry Crow
I have a personal interest as the trainer, Art Sherman, was a jockey during the time my mother was racing her horses and is a first class man. I went to see him at Los Alamitos where CC is stabled but missed him as he was in Northern California helping his son Steve, who is one of the leading trainers up there. Hope to hook up with him soon. I have heard that the owners, who are regular people, turned down an offer of six million for him recently. If he wins the SA Derby who knows what the offers may be?

Terry,
I like Ring Weekend and California Chrome very much.

Dear Terry Glad you and your dog are fine after the quake. Heard all about it on Martin Mouse’s FB, he was a bit scared.Hugs Sheena.

Dear Max. Would LOVE to meet those aunts of yours!!!Free the Moose Sheena.Think Nissy and his family were feral cats.
Max
Sheena. No kidding. That’s great that the cats have found such a good home. I can understand why Prim and Blossom are hostile to strangers. In answer to Nissy’s question, snakes do spit, as in spitting cobras. They can be very dangerous as they spit in the eyes of those who are threats to them. Always wear sunglasses in cobra country, or better still, stay away and leave them alone.
Free the Moose! Neigh!

Max
JudyB or Sheena. Is Little Captain also called Hercules? Or are there two little horses? I noticed that Herc was standing his ground against the much bigger Charlie in the photo. Such a great photo of those two.

Dear Max:
Captain and Hercules are two different Minis. Captain is more of a chocolate brown color with a lot of gold in his mane. There are about six Minis on the farm altogether. Yes, Hercules is a little spitfire. After the photos were taken, Alex took him in the ring to walk him and he was jumping and kicking out like a Lipizzaner. Too cute and funny. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. Thanks. Now recall that you mentioned that there are 6 little guys or gals. Love that name, Hercules.

@Vicki B – Thanks for posting the link to the RunTheBluegrass page. Yes, that’s the medal I got. If I come to California for the BC again this year, I’ll bring it with me so you can see it up close.
@Terry Crow – Did you happen to watch the Kentucky/Michigan game today? I know how you like to tease me about my Wildcats, but we are kicking butt and taking names! Haha. I’m just enjoying this now because it’ll be football season before you know it!
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
Excellent, Debbie, it looks like a gorgeous medal!
Terry Crow
It takes quite a bit to make up for football season but things are improving.

ESPN Stats & Info
Kentucky is the first team to start 5 freshmen in an Elite 8 win
since Michigan’s “Fab 5” in 1992.
Terry Crow
I hope Kentucky does better than those guys did. They never did win the title.
