Dear fans,
We are so touched by the flowers and notes left at Zenyatta’s statue during the Breeders’ Cup. The strength and compassion shown by this community never ceases to amaze us.
The 2014 Zenyatta.com Celebration was a huge success, and we can’t wait to share the final results. Auction winners have been notified, and we will be drawing our grand prize and bonus gift bag winners shortly. All winners will be notified tonight. Check your email!
Thank you all so much for taking part this year!

I can`t really express how hurt ,sorry and angry I am. I have not been able to look at her pictures and cry a lot.I can`t EVER imagine how Ann and Jerry are coping with this. Why this happened only one person knows. Guess Zenny was meant to have her princess and the Princess was meant to do other things. Only God can answer that. I know he doesn`t give you more then you can handle but this is a tough one. She was very beautiful, bright, sweet, and looked just lke her Mom. I usually don`t have a hard time this is hard for me. That being said, it`s time to say goodbye sweet girl. You had a short time here with Mommy and all of her fans but someone else had different plans for you. You are the bright shining star that we see on a beautiful clear night and you will ALWAYS be remembered and treasured by all of us. God bless! My condolenses to Ann, Jerry, and all the Zenyatta team.Especially Lanes End Farm for taking such great care of her…Alene

Alene-I agree completely. Just cannot imagine Ann’s grief. I hope she knows the love we feel here. Z Princess was special from Day 1. She looked just like Mom. Seeing the little tiara was just hear-wrenching, but such a perfect tribute to our little angel. Trying to type through tears.

There are not sufficient words to express how heartbroken I am about the Princess. I know that everyone on the blog feels the same way. When I left last week to go to the BC I was apprehensive because I was so sad and I knew that everyone else was too, but it was so uplifting to be around my fellow Dumplings. All of the flowers and cards were so beautiful and touching and the little pink tiara was perfect. I’ll never understand why things like this happen. It’s just incomprehensible to me. She was such a perfect, beautiful little angel. We were blessed to have had her for the short time she was here. My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to the Mosses, the Shirreffs and everyone at Lanes End. I can’t begin to imagine the pain they’re going through.

I agree. Being with fellow Z Dumplings lifted my spirits. Tears of sadness shared helped the horrible pain! The beautiful statue adorn with pink flowers was so touching. Thanks to Karen Gogue for the adorable tiara and peppermints.

I have waited a few days to comment on the passing of little Princess. I purchased some items in the Shop and so grateful for the opportunity to participate. But now that the BC is over the emotions I have tried so hard to control have come forth with so many tears due to Team Z’s post today. I suppose I felt my comments would have just been a repeat of others. What I am feeling are tears of pride and love of everyone here who cherish this very special bond we have and express it to those who care for our Big Girl and always will. I envy those who could visit Z’s statue with pink flowers. I would have been there.
Linda Parker-Fedak
Like everyone else, my heart is broken. I can’t look at the pictures and the posts on Z Princess without feeling gutted. It was so wonderful when she was born. Finally, a filly!!! And such a pretty girl! Now she is gone and there is an emptiness that is so deep. I also feel so bad for her owners and all who had anything to do with her. My condolences to all. And also to her fans. It’s going to be a very long time before we all start healing.

My sentiments are similar, Linda. I agree, I think about it every day.

During Friday’s and Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup races, there was seldom a moment that someone was not taking pics in front of Zenyatta’s statue. Even on Sunday, when there were far fewer people attending the races, people stood in line to take photos. I reminisced with an employee of Santa Anita about Z’s glorious Classic win which we were privileged to watch that magical day. It was a sweet memory, but I could not contain the tears every time I passed the flower bedecked statue last week.

Sheena,
Thank you for posting Hovis this morning. He always kicks off my Fridays with a smile.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Thanks Sheena. I am so envious of all those fans that get to meet him this weekend, and I’m sure the accounts will be hilarious. His Aunty Becky has just posted that they have safely arrived at the event, and there are a couple of pictures of him grazing in preparation for meeting what I’m sure will be a large group of cooing women (and some men too) :-)

Dear Sheena:
Thanks for posting Hovis’ Diary. Glad he is feeling better. Love and Hugs, JB

Sheena,
I feel the same way when Princess Diana died and all of us dumplings are in mourning like everyone in the UK mourned. She was the people’s princess and Z is our queen and her daughter was our princess.

Here goes…if you don’t like this, just keep scrolling on by.
November 7 Cherokee Devotional
Natural doubts will come to our minds. They are familiar and will slip in on the coattails of an everyday thing. And then, they begin to nag. We can’t afford to dally with doubt. Doubt can nag until it wears us down to a nub. At first, it just suggests lightly that something could be wrong-then, what if it is? And eventually, it surely must be because we feel it so in our spirits. Little seeds of u tla si dv, doubt, are like little grains of yeast that go into bread dough. As soon, as they warm up, they begin to expand the loaf until the pan can no longer be seen. It is all so subtle.
Long Hair (Custer) came…they said we massacred him…Our first impulse was to escape…but we were so hemmed in we had to fight.

Thank you for sharing the Cherokee Devotionals. I find them very uplifting and thought provoking and we can all do well to try to look at things in a different light, consider another perspective. I’m sorry if someone around here was trying to discourage you from posting these bits of wisdom. There is room for learning for all of us. Thanks!!

Dear Sheena,
You know I was silent for several days purely out of respect. I thought enough time had gone by to come back but maybe I was wrong. Seems several on here want only 100% Zenyatta, her boys and Z Princess. I really felt attacked yesterday. Thank you for your e-mail address. I may communicate with you that way for a while. Will come back more here after things calm down for a while. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.

I would like to reiterate what many on this blog is feeling about “our” Z princess. The Mosses in their generosity has let us into the life of Zenyatta, so that even though we don’t “know” her & her family, we feel that we do. I can only think that explains why we all feel so deeply at the loss of The Princess” (as Abigail so aptly said).
On the one hand, if we are feeling so bad, I can’t imagine the Mosses’ pain (& those of Lane’s Ends who worked closely with Z Princess). But on the other, since they knew the exact circumstances of her accident (and have had concrete contact with her and therefore “real” memories of her), it may be a ‘little’ easier for them to accept her fate. I know that when I had to put my beloved cat down, though it really hurt me, I cried just after making the decision, and again while the needle was administered, I knew that I was doing the best for her. I sensed too, that that was what she wanted. Knowing that eased my pain a little.
Either way, it is not fair…RIP Beautiful One
Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
Zensters,
For anyone interested I am Facebook friends with Omar Velez, CoZ’s groom, and I asked him how tall CoZ is now and he replied, ” Big C is 16 hands and still growing”. I think our dear boy is going to be a late bloomer like mama. Wonder if he will race at all this year. Hope our “angel Princess” watches over Zenny and the boys.
Please remember Vamp(Sue C ) in your prayers, as she is going through a reall tough time right now. PUV, sending all our healings hugs and prayers to you.
Kathy, please don’t stop your devotionals just because a few people in the minority have made comments. I don’t always say anything but they are very inspirational, and most of us get a lot of enjoyment from them.
I didn’t get an email from the Team either so I guess I won’t be seeing you Zenny this year, but I certainly won’t give up on my bucket list.
Hugs to all, Kisses to Zenny, CoZ, Ziconic, Angel Princess and my Indy.
Celeste_in_TX
How fun for you to be FB friends with Coz’s groom!! You can share details of his daily routine with those of us who are out of the loop so to speak. Hard to believe he is already so tall – likely he could grow to Zenny’s beautiful size. Sending good wishes and prayers for Vamp here and also on FB. Like you I didn’t get the email I was hoping for, but I did get emails this morning that the fun stuff I ordered has been shipped. Woohoo!!

Very sad news from Ireland Solwhit the 2013 World Hurdle winner broke his shoulder while schooling earlier today and has been euthanized. He even defeated the Fly back in 2009 at Punchestown but mostly played second fiddle to him.Only aged 10yrs he will be sadly missed. In the world of horseracing there is always tragedy.RIP Sheena.
Celeste_in_TX
Sorry to hear this news about Solwhit. I can barely keep up with flat racing around the world and I do try to follow some of the steeplechasers also, but it is not as much a part of the racing scene over here as in the UK and Europe. I have so much admiration and respect for the athletes – both the horses and the jockeys – and think it is wonderful that the horses are still appreciated as they get older!! I am always trying to learn more about it but at my age, the brain can only handle so much – lol!
Kathy
I’m sorry, Sheena. RIP Solwhit. So sad when we lose these magnificent creatures.
