Zenyatta looks like she had her mane colored, ohh what we women need to do for an interview. Zenyatta looks fabulous. Z princess looks just like her. The boys are built like her. The Queen will rule for over a hundred years.

Classic favorite Shared Belief has earned believers
By Alicia Wincze Hughes Herald-Leader October 27, 2014
ARCADIA, Ca. — Traveling down the Santa Anita Park backstretch aboard champion Shared Belief on Sept. 27, all of Mike Smith’s peerless knowledge was telling the Hall of Fame jockey that his mount’s unbeaten record was likely coming to an end.
Just get a decent finish and leave something the tank, Smith thought. Because what kind of horse — a 3-year-old against elders nonetheless — could come back after being carried out as wide as his gelding just was and still have something left for the finish.
http://www.kentucky.com/2014/10/27/3504697_classic-favorite-shared-belief.html?sp=/99/268/&rh=1
From article:
“What I think makes him stand above a lot of the horses I’ve been blessed to ride is he doesn’t need his race to run his race,” Smith said. “He’ll do anything. You can get left, you can go to the lead, he can lay second, he can get dirt in his face, you can bang him around. It doesn’t seem to matter. He’ll run whenever you ask him.”

Dear BGG:
Thank you for posting this link. Couldn’t help thinking CC went clear of the rail all the way to the outside. Well, hoping that works for him. Love and Hugs, JB
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
I guess the good news is the position of the starting gate which will give him lots of time to get moved over before the first turn (hopefully!).
Faithful Z Supporter
Ya know, between Z and her mom Vertigineux who Z favors, was also bred to Tapit this year, they have provided us with superior genes in their babies. Maybe one day, Z will be awarded The Broodmare HOY like her as well. I really love how we are allowed to see Zenny so content living a retired life rolling in the mud, gorgeous sun- highlighted mane, but still having the aura of confidence and physical presence she had on the racetrack. Wow, what a lady. I, like others will be here each day eager for all BC updates from Team Z as in previous years. TY! Dare we hope for any live streaming as before? OMG.
Barbara Wood
Absolutely agree. What a blessing she has been to us all.
KathyR
Thurzel update.
Went to Jeir yesterday. told the Elegant Emily what had been going on with Red, and she immediately said he was to leave the paddock and go into the huge run where the yearlings and retirees live. We (Emily, George, (the son of the owners), and Helen, a staff member) all went down to the paddock – I was a bit behind because I had to get my gear and the purple beauty box with the girl’s grooming bits and of course the treats. By the time I reached the paddock they had caught Red and transferred him across to his new home. Helen was up the top with Romeo who had his nose in a bucket full of pellets. My little girl had stopped to look in the bin, then looked up, saw me and ambled to meet me. I was just so proud of her! Helen, who hasn’t seen her for a while, commented on how good her coat was, and suggested that when I get her a fly mask I make it a longer one, because of the risk of skin cancer to her pink nose. My little girl had no problem with me putting on the halter, and we set off down the hill for a grooming. The yearlings in the next paddock decided to do the “play Melbourne Cup winner” game, and took off: Romeo decided he was in and did the same, and my girl threw her head up, got up on her toes and was going to follow: told her to just wait, undid the lead rope, and my goodness she has a turn of foot when she wants! She flew down the hill to the gate, then turned about and trotted up to meet me again! We had a lovely grooming time, and it was so good to give her a huge hug and kiss after all the worries of the past week. When I put her back in her paddock the sneaky Romeo darted behind her and took off into the next paddock: had to go get some pellets, chase him and return him to his rightful place. Then went up the hill to the girl and gave her the last Judy muffin. I’m starting to let myself think it may all be good from now on.
I do feel very sad for Red: he is ex-racehorse, and recently gelded when he came to Jeir after being retired due to repeat bowed tendons. The Elegant Emily reckons his late gelding has made him think like a stallion, hence his aggression to me. Poor bloke, he really just wants to be loved, and is yet another victim of the discard attitude of the racing industry. But my priority has to be to my little girl, and it’s just so wonderful to have her back. Hugs KathyR

Happy news!
Happy that Red has new herd to guard.
With his being gone, Thurzel has returned to her happy self.
And, you are a happy owner.

KathyR,
So happy to hear that your “little girl” is back to herself and that you had a good visit with here. Hope Red adjusts to his new pasture mates.
Ann NC
Ah, relief. Good news. Now, back to lovin on that beautiful mare!
Barbara Wood
Thanks for the update, KathyR. Yes, the “discard mentality” appears to be with us in all things. Hugs.
Celeste_in_TX
Wonderful news! I’m so happy to see that Red has been moved to another herd/pasture so you can have more pleasant times with Thurzel. She is such a beauty and yes, you need to protect that sweet white nose.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Great news KathyR! Hope there will be smoother sailing ahead!
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Kathy R:
Feel bad for Red too, but he will adjust in time. This should make for peaceful, happy visits for you and Tiny T. Love and Hugs, JB
SallyB.(AuntiecherishesZandheryoung)
KathyR, So happy to see you and Thurzel once again content together. It otherwise was a bit too difficult to ever achieve that.
It makes sense if Red recently was gelded he’d be so possessive, but even those who have been gelded sometime ago still like the company of a particular mare….not that they could ever breed. At least this is what I saw.
I know you feel bad for Red, how can you not, and I hope he will have other company.
Happy days to you, Sally B

Who doesn’t long for a dear and trusted friend? There is one. It is our own inner-person that cares enough never to betray us. It is that untainted spirit within us that waits for us to recognize it, to love it. It is the real of us-our perfect pattern. It has never been too fat or too thin, never smoked too much, never overindulged in anything that would hurt us. It renews and revitalizes our entire being for it has the power to bring healing to every memory-to give us a whole new purpose. Until we tap this inward friend, we are only operating on partial power. It is the Life of Life, our saving grace and our reason for living.
Men must be born and reborn to belong.

Dear Kathy.Such wise words! like to think I am my own best friend!I just love reading Tom’s posts on his FB,he’s heading out for a walk with Atticus. He has set up a memorial fund for Will and he’s going to scatter some of his ashes on Thanksgiving day.He is, essentially, a private man and is surprised how many have connected with Will and his story.
All our other furbabies are fine even Boo doesn’t care for Mondays either.Marty was enjoying his fruit salad and had some rice too.I had to laugh at Mango and her sissys wanting Abby to join the army!!If not the RAF!Bless her,she has promised to behave now.Have a great day,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
I think Will’s story resonated with a lot of people. That’s nice that Tom has set up a memorial fund. I’m glad that Marty eats healthy meals from time to time. He was eating some mint chocolate chip ice cream the other day. All things in moderation, right? It looks like little Cindy is learning to get around in her Freedom Wheels. What a worthy charitable endeavor. Bless them! Have a good Tuesday. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.

This rat has pretty good taste. Mint chocolate chip ice cream and turtle cookies can cure almost anything. Just polished off some myself. Sorry Marty, they’re gone.

Dear Z Fans:
Very upset and sad. Angela called this afternoon and said that Dubai is down again. He has regressed backwards instead of improving as we had hoped. She’s trying to get the x-rays moved up from Thursday. She thinks there has to be bone involved because of all the pain he’s feeling. I am really worried and crying. Thank all of you for your concern and prayers for Dubai. Love and Hugs, JB
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
I’m so sorry to hear this Judy. Just when it seemed that he had turned the corner in a positive sense. Hopefully he will get something soon that will relieve the pain as well as a correct diagnosis and treatment. Prayers for Dubai and all of his caregivers and especially for you.
Love and Hugs,
Sandy

Dear Judy:
So very, very disappointed to hear this news: times like this we all feel really helpless. Just know the prayers have been doubled, and lots of love and hugs are on their way to you, Angela and the team and of course dear Dubai. KathyR

Judy,
So sorry about Dubai. I pray that a miracle will happen and that he will improve.

JudyB. Saddened to hear that Dubai is in pain, and consequently so are you. By lying down, he’s doing what he has to do to get better. Hoping that he recovers like Paynter. Power up Du.
Ann NC
I know, Max. Do not like knowing, sweet Judy B is sad.
Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
Judy B,
Heartbreaking news about Dubai after he had improved so much. We are all praying for him though, and remember how we gathered around Paynter setbacks and all he finally was cured. This is my hope for Dubai, don’t you give up you have been there for so many of us with prayers…..so keep the faith. Hope the new vet has some good ideas. Love and hugs
Ann NC
Sending thoughts and prayers.
Love and hugs.
SallyB.(AuntiecherishesZandheryoung)
Judy B!!!! This is heartbreaking. I will pray for Dubai with all my heart. This is an emergency, every hour counts. I pray the xrays can be done asap. Has bloodowork been done, I can not remember? Sweet Dubai needs twice a day check and new bandage wrap care I am beginning to believe. Perhaps that has been done too. I wish I could send Dave, our volunteer farrier to care for Dubai as he saved our Jo. Is there a farrier friend?
Blessings to all of you!
love n hugs, Sally B
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
My Dear Sally:
Blood work was done for IR, Cushings, Liver Enzymes, Insulin level and more. Everything came back normal ranges. He does have a very high white blood count and fever because of the infection that keeps popping up. Angela checks his feet and cleans the abscess wounds as they drain and gives him his meds (antibiotics and pain meds). Four abscesses have drained and dried and now there is a fifth one that has popped and is draining and another tender area where there is most likely another abscess. He’s on the max dosage of two pain meds and they’re not helping. There’s no swelling evident, but he is so sore and in pain that he does not like his feet touched. If there is something going on with the bone (navicular or coffin), the x-rays should show what it is. He’s on special feed too. He just can’t seem to fight the infection. It’s heartbreaking to see him again in such pain. Will let you know what the x-rays show when I talk to Angela tomorrow. Love and Hugs, JB

Zenyatta – The bloodhorse article on the internet was just a great Monday morning treat. I savored the article. It brought back so many happy memories of your presence at Santa Anita and Hollywood Park. Everytime I attend, I always, always look for your presence and your happy dance in the walking ring. We will miss you at the track again this year at the Breeder’s Cup, but your life at Lane’s End is pretty darn near perfect. Thank you and your people for keeping us in your life.
Hope everyone at Lane’s End has a great week and enjoy the BC.
Barbara Wood
OK, all— I have a question, and I hope it doesn’t get me in trouble. Ever since Ria Antonia was entered earlier against the boys in one of the Triple Crown races (can’t remember which), some questioned why she was there when owners/trainers are supposed to fit the horses to the races that their horses can succeed in. Ever since, she has been in my virtual stable to watch. I get her workout reports, and she is consistently very, very, fast, but her earlier races indicate that she does not do well in longer races. So why are they entering her in the Distaff, which is over a mile? She has blazing speed out of the gate. I don’t even know who the owner/trainer is, so it’s not personal. I’m just wondering and concerned for her. Hugs to all.
LauraJ (Cincinnati)
She is not a sprinter; her career has consisted mostly of 8.5f races. Her last outing, the GI Juddmonte Spinster Stakes at Keeneland, was 9f, the same distance as the Distaff. She placed second in that race, which is pretty good. Granted her connections would probably prefer a slightly shorter race (1/16th of a mile shorter), but she’s been a two-turn horse most of her career.
Barbara Wood
Ok, thanks, Laura J. We’ll see what happens. I hope she does well.

American Pharoah withdrawn from Breeders’ Cup
By BETH HARRIS (AP Racing Writer) Tues. Oct. 28 2014
ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — American Pharoah, who was the early 2-1 favorite for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, was withdrawn Tuesday because of bruise in his left front foot.
”Yesterday he wasn’t 100 percent. He was a little bit off,” a downcast Baffert said, adding that the horse appears to walk fine. ”We’re hopeful he’ll be all right and you’ll see him in the spring.”
Owner Ahmed Zayat tweeted that he was ”crushed” and ”devastated” but couldn’t take a chance ”with a special colt like this.”

Judy,
I really liked him in the Juvenile. Guess I will have to go with Carpe Diem, my second choice.
Mr. Zayat loves and takes wonderful care of his horses. I will never forget the love, care and money he lavished on Paynter.

Glad Thurzel is relaxed and all is going well.
I hope your barn people will not allow people to feed horses in the new pasture Red is in or the same problem will develop.Horses do fight and become aggressive over food and will not leave a person with food alone.I hope someone takes an interest in him and spends some time with him.
Praying for Dubai, keeping you close in my heart and in my thoughts.xo
