John and Dottie sent us these photos of Coz having fun at Belmont. The box he opened was a gift from students at Westgate Middle School. Thank you Homeroom 215!
We think Coz loves to play…these pictures are wonderful…now, our First Prince, you need to focus on your training. What a handful you must be for John and Co.
Goodmorning, hope you two have had an awesomely restful weekend which is rapidly coming to a close. I love what you have said about our first Prince Coz, its so good to see him soo relaxed, Happy and having fun. You know what they say, ‘ All work and no Play makes Coz a dull Prince’.
I personally think that the trick here to his racing success is to find a Balance between Play and Work. I think John has figured that out. First Prince has always been a goof ball and a Runner. All that training and seriousness was making him mad. He’ll be fine now that he has Play, goof off time.
Wishing you two a wonderfully Blessed rest of the day. It is always well at Z Nation, Much love.
Maureen phillips; I love what you had to say as well as sue and tony. I guess Coz still loves a bit of kid play. Coz can and will do it when John finds that balance. I sure love him regardless how long it takes.
hugs, Sally B
Thanks for your kind words, and I am on board with your loving First Prince Coz no matter how long it takes for him to figure out this racing thing. This does not take away anything from our love of Second Prince Ziconic. Did you see the tail on that boy? Queen Z sure knows how to produce lovelies. Rest in Peace Vertigineux, the Queen’s mother, am sure she is living it up with her lovely grand daughter Z Princess.
Wishing you a restful night and a Blessed month of June. It is alway well at Z Nation. Much love.
You were right. One can really see the influence of Roberto on Vertigineux, Zenyatta and Cozzie. Ziconic on the other hand seems to take after his daddy, Tapit.
I couldn’t agree more with you!, he or she seems to groom First Prince with an infusion of love that it shows through his coat, or is it all First Prince’s genetics?. He has such fine, skin and coat. Isn’t he just so fine???, Have a good evening. It is well.
Dear Judy,
So sorry to hear about the delay of Lola Mae’s surgery. I will be thinking of & praying for both of you all week until I hear that she came through surgery with flying colors. It is good that Lola Mae is eating & taking her meds well; she’s probably less upset about the delay than you are! I bet she looks cute in her little basket & enjoys being able to be with you all the time.
Please give Lola kisses from Amy, Cappy & myself. All three of us have gone through ortho surgery, so we can empathize with you. The waiting is the worst part; once you get through that, everything else will seem easier.
love, Donna, Amy & Cappy
Coz, you are handsomer than ever! Please thank John & Dottie for the neat pictures; they brought many smiles to my face. They were an extra unexpected treat. I am sure that we will soon be seeing pictures of Ann’s & Jerry’s visit with Ziconic & you as well. I hope that someone at Lane’s End is showing Mamma Zenny your photos as well.
Zenyatta, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. I am sure that she and our beloved Z Princess are together and are watching over you & all of your family.
Ziconic, I am anxiously awaiting to hear about your visit with Ann & Jerry. I love that you seem to dance just like your mom & hope you continue to do so. I am also looking forward to visiting Coz & you & John & his team at Saratoga in August. I would also love to meet Ann & Jerry.
Stay safe & well, everyone. I so enjoy keeping up with all of your lives.
Thank you for your lovely post and for all the love expressed for your Z Nation family. We love you too. It was definitely a treat seeing pictures of First Prince Coz and seeing him so relaxed and happy!, he sure is something special.
It was really sad about the Queen’s mother passing and sadder that it was not even mentioned like she was nothing. She was somebody important to Z Nation and am happy that we are honoring her memory as best we can. May her lovely soul rest in Perfect Peace. She sure is chatting up a storm with our very own Z Princess. Have you a restful night as we await the dawning of another Blessed day. It is always well at Z Nation. Much love.

The butterflies are turtle-turtling I guess. Those poor baby ospreys. So hard on them with nasty weather and they’re still so young. I hope Blue 24’s companion is indeed a mate. That was very sad to hear that Frosty has crossed Rainbow Bridge. The only way to look at tit is that he is now completely whole again. Bless him. That’s wonderful that Mr. No Ears has raised so much money! I hope his skin condition gets better soon. It’s wonderful to see Chromie doing so well. Love him! Did Rosie know the sex of the baby ahead of time? Hope he/she arrived safely and that Mommy is doing well, too. Bless Fubu. I remember last year we weren’t sure if he would survive to his 15th birthday. That’s really nice of Lucy Lu Cove’s mom to plan the party. That’s good Nay will be back soon. Poor Jade! He must’ve been in so much pain. The beginning of the Jordan video was SO sad but thank God some angels rescued him hand he’s now in a wonderful loving home. I’ll have to look for video of Matisse. I LOVE dog acts. Did you see that little Zoe won the calendar contest? I’m so proud of her! Have a wonderful Monday. We need your rain! Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Happy Birthday to John Sherriffs – a truly fine man. He is one of the good guys and represents the very best of the world of TB horseracing.
I love to watch and listen to John’s interviews. His voice is so calm and comforting and his love of the TB just pours from him. I hope to meet him and visit his barn one day. He and our Queen have infused so many lives with newfound love and appreciation for a sport that is in jeopardy. If there were more like him and the rest of Team Z, what a “wonderful world this would be.”
Happy birthday, John! and thank you for all the thrills and joy you have given us though the horses in your care. And of course a hug and a rub on the nose to our girl Z and her beautiful boys.

Thanks for the info. Materiality’s Facebook says that it is definite that the “dratted” Johnny V will be on board. He has ridden him before in a race and has been working him since the Preakness. JV has a way of spoiling my fun. Hope they come in second Saturday!
Happy Birthday to John Sheriffs today, may you have a very special day.
Sending healing prayers to Lola Mae so that she comes thru her surgery with flying colors. Her mama, Judy, will give her the best of care, I know, and love is the best healer of all.
RIP beautiful Vertigeneax, the Queen Mother, we will miss you. I hope Mr Kronfelds wishes were honored and she is buried at Winter Quarter farm next to her mama. A truly great mare who deserved a special tribute instead of a minor mention…….shame on Coolmore.
Love these pics of our CoZ, what a goofy gus he is. I think John should get him a jolly ball to play with like he had a LE. He certainly had a lot of fun with it. I got a FB from Omar, his groom, and it’s his birthday so he got lots of treats from the barn gang and said he gave CoZ one of his cupcakes. So cute. He really loves him and I think CoZ loves him too.
Sending kisses to Mama Zen, baby bump, CoZ, ZI, angel Princess and my Indy.
That comment does not apply to the owners. It was not just a business for example with St. Nick. They spare no expense caring for their horses. Have you ever looked at Galileo’s stall? Pretty great. We don’t know enough about the V situation to come to conclusions other than the people at Ashford probably failed to understand the impact of silence when it comes to any horse who is connected to Zenyatta. Zenyatta is unique in the horse world. She transcends the horse world to enter the imagination of all who come to know her.
The Happiest of Birthdays is wished you today and the years to come. You who gave so selflessly of yourself to the Queen making her who she is today. For being her Bestest friend and always there by her side to encourage and spur her on to all those thrilling victories that was her trade mark. Thank you so, so much and hoping you have lots of fun today, Am sure First Prince would love to help you open some of your boxed presents as he seems to be adept at opening boxes now.
Again have and awesomely Blessed day and our love to your lovely wife, the one and only Dottie, Say hi to second Prince Zi if you run into him.
It is always well at Z Nation, much love and gratitude for all you do for the Queen and now her Prince’s.

Dear Judy and all Z fans. I couldn’t agree many of the comments that yes, she might have been able to retire if her owner had been alive and freed from the burden of more babies at her age. Yes, now there is a full brother to Zenyatta, so for that I hope he is doing well. Nothing can be changed now. and it is very sad. I too believe it is comforting to know her final resting place. So many of you ( I can’t begin to name all, have already written so eloquently,) I really have nothing more to say, than with finding this final news and watching HP implode, it was a really somber weekend. Rest in peace beautiful mother, Vertigineaux. You are dearly missed by your daughter’s fans. You gave the world the most beautiful horses and for that we will love and remember you forever.
Hope things are better with your Lola M and surgery goes well. Always hard with our furry family members.

And my first published work in about a week I ran a controlled 9min 40 sec mile.
I now pronounce myself fit and ready for Big Sandy
Max, some background on this post. I have been waiting and watching
for Wise Dan’s first gallop–as I know you have. So glad he is back.
One reason I haven’t been on the Blog as much lately I am having an eye problem.
It has made it difficult reading. So, saw the WISE DAN post, but did not
see all the detail until it was up on the Blog.
Still wish for the Edit function-do a time limit it as they do on the Forum
Just did not want you to take what was intended as a salute to Wise Dan
the wrong way.
The humor references was directed at the WISE DA:N poster.

Thanks for this news. 9 minutes, 40 seconds for a mile? He must have been parading it very slowly and stopping to allow his many fans to take some photos. Dan has a great sense of humor. Kick some butt, Danny.
Hope that you feel better soon.

Sounds like there is still some confusion on this website about the timing of Vertigineux’s death. I can only tell you what was told to me by the Coolmore Manager.
I have copied the text from his messages…
Vertigineux haemoraged and died after foaling two years ago .
She has a two year old full brother to Zenyatta we hope will be a good horse but are going to give him plenty of time to mature..
Regards
Dermot .
Glad you asked that question, Carol. I had the same one. That is why I asked him to tell me exactly at what time she died. His response was “an hour after giving birth”. He initially said that she died 2 years ago.
After that response, I sent another message asking if she died in 2013 after giving birth to Zenyatta’s full sibling (by Street Cry) or thinking maybe he meant 1 year ago…that she died after giving birth to a different foal .
That question is on the table. Hopefully, we’ll get a response. This week is very busy due to the Belmont Stakes being this Saturday.
Whatever the answer is, there will a lot of different responses on this website and that’s OK. Zenyatta has many fans with varying viewpoints and that’s one reason that I love this website and am thankful that Lanes End keeps it rolling.
Allie in Texas
One more item. I would bet that some thoroughbred publication, I’m hoping for a tribute from Steve Haskin or Lenny Shulman, will publish an article concerning Vertigineux once the Triple Crown hoopla has died down.

I do hope Mr. Kronfeldspar wishe’s were carried out too.
When I visited Coolmore, one of the managers was asked if they are close to their horses (in terms of feelings) and he said, No, this is a business.
Unfortunately it seems like his statement rings true in this case with Vertigineux!

Ziconic’s other FB page has posted new photos of the Chestnut Prince chillaxin’ in his stall at Belmont. He looks so peaceful and laid back!

Love the one of him lying flat out but checking the camera angles at the same time. His coat is very red even in the dark.

He’s gorgeous, isn’t he? Of course, that’s the only way Zenny “bakes” them! ;-)

We can always rely on Zenyatta to do everything perfectly. All of her foals are beautiful.

Look at that beautiful bed of straw piled mile high. Enjoy, Zi. Love his head on the pillow of hay…smellin sweet dreams.
He is a beautiful boy!

Regards
Dermot .
She died within an hour after foaling …
That is all the information I have at this time.

Then what is that picture of V with her colt they posted when he was supposedly 10 days old.
Allie in Texas

One more item. I would bet that some thoroughbred publication, I’m hoping for a tribute from Steve Haskin or Lenny Shulman, will publish an article concerning Vertigineux once the Triple Crown hoopla has died down.
