John and Dottie sent us these photos of Coz having fun at Belmont. The box he opened was a gift from students at Westgate Middle School. Thank you Homeroom 215!
Just an opinion. I think these pictures of Coz came unexpectedly and especially because of the package from the children, who will probably be getting out of school soon, they were posted right away. If we have a little more patience, I’m sure Team
Z will update us with their visit to Belmont shortly, as they promised. Love, Marty R.
Thanks, Marty.
Thanks again Homeroom#215! You are very special.
Thanks to Mr. John for teaching Coz his manners. The kids will flip when they see these photos, thanking them for that gift box!
Good boy, Cozzie Cone Head.
Thank you from my heart for all the love, prayers and sweet comments from all of you.
Lola had a good day; she ate both meals and took her meds. I bought a basket which I attached to my grocery cart. I can take her everywhere around the apt. and outdoors, as well as keeping her confined. She lays next to me on my chair when I watch TV.
Ann-Add my voice to your sentiments. Judy is my oldest friend on the blog.
Marty R / Colorado
Ahem, Terry, You might want to rephrase that as “longest time” friend on the blog. Saying “oldest” could be a little touchy. Judy was one of the first to welcome me to the blog, actually, Diary, as well. So many highs and lows individually and as a group and everyone pulls together and Powers Up those in need and we’re still standing. A family of strangers brought together by the love a horse. It’s amazing to think of.
Dear Carol
Yes, I was so proud of Night Prowler. He did great. Thought he had it. Just beaten by a head. He beat some very good horses. Ocho Ocho Ocho, and I believe he even beat a Kitten. So proud of him. Think he’ll even get better as he matures.
My sympathies to Zenny on the now confirmed loss of her mother. At least she can be comforted knowing that Grandma Vertingeux was waiting the greet Princess and that they’re together running free in the fields of Heaven.
Dear Judy.Good to see a couple of posts from you.So happy Lola Mae is eating well and getting about more.Goodnight God bless you Lola Mae and all the sweeties.Always in my thoughts and prayers.Love and hugs SheenaX
Yes, Lola is getting used to being in the basket and wheeled around. It’s great because I can take her everywhere with me in the apartment and also outdoors for a breath of fresh air, while she is confined the whole time. She’s such a sweet girl. Love and Hugs, JB
Dear Judy B.,
I have been off the blog so I only just saw that Lola Mae had the surgery on her hip. I am so happy that she is getting along so well — this is good news indeed! God bless you and Lola Mae (and your nephew, too). Keep us posted , and let us know if we can help even if it is long distance. Prayers for smooth recovery and good range of motion for LM — pain-free movement, especially.
Take care!

Dear Marshall:
Actually, my poor baby was at the vet hospital from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM when they called and told me the surgery would have to be rescheduled due to emergencies all day.
I asked the doctor if he could book her in when she would be his first surgery of the morning. He said he is in the OR on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and his first opening was on Saturday, 6/6. She is scheduled for that day as his first surgery barring any emergencies.
Thank you for your sweet concern. I’m asking for your continued prayers for my little girl. She’s doing well; eating and taking her meds. Love and Hugs, JB and LM
Marshall (NC Broad)
Oops, I should have read the previous pages before posting. Sorry that Lola Mae and you, Judy B., have to wait until the 6th for the surgery — waiting is the worst. I am glad that LM is more comfortable now though.
Will keep positive thoughts and prayers for good health.
Take care, and may the week pass quickly and uneventfully for your dear sweet baby-girl.
Sorry about misunderstanding when the surgery is to be.

RIP, dear Vertigineux. I had no idea until others started talking I checked the pedigree site, and there was no mention whatsoever. No matter what people say, that is sad to me. Hugs to all.
If you remember, Coolmore shared the information about the birth of the full sibling in 2013 with me. They shared this wonderful news with me as I promised I would post the news on the Zenyatta.com website. There were doubters at that time as there was no official word. Think it took a day or two for the news to be official. I didn’t blame the doubters one bit. I know Coolmore wanted to protect the colt from the spotlight as long as they could. If you think about it, most mares are very protective of their “babies” and I think Vertigineux would appreciate their stance. I think it is quite an honor for the Zenyatta fans that Coolmore has shared this latest news with us. I have no idea when they plan to make an official announcement, or if they even will. ( My source is the Coolmore Stud Manager, Dermot Ryan.)
Loved your post on the previous page and so glad to hear from you. You said everything on the previous page so nicely. And, I so agree with you. But, you know the one thing that helps my heart. I know that God has Vertigineux now. I would like to know where she lays at rest, but if they want let us know. I remember Jeanette Oak’s book and its how I feel she said if a “Man loses a horse he goes looking for him. ” I think maybe that’s what we do. And, I think that is a pretty good trait. We love them and in my case would just like to know her final resting place. My hats off to all the farms and individual who thought it important to let the public know. I do know where most of my favorites lay at rest. Secretariat, Man O War, Affirmed, Seattle Slew, Pine Island, Barbaro, Eight Belles. Aldyar, Whirlaway “Mr Long Tail” I have been assured he is there at Calumet. Have to believe that. But know he’s with God. and War Pass. So many and most of my favorite mare’s too. Like Ruffian.
Like Pati said it is the final event in a horse’s life. Will never understand of someone not releasing a death statement (a small paragraph would do) or a resting place of a horse that was in the public eye. Yes, think they do more damage with silence. To just stand near their resting place. Don’t know there is just something about that there is a feeling there. Like at Secretariat’s and Man O War and lots of Secretariats family. Just something so magical about being in those cemetary’s You feel their presence or I know I do. Stood a long time at the grave of some of Man O War’s sons. Many tears.
Just blessed to be able to visit the sites. So thankful to the owners and everyone that cared about their fans.
One horse have not been able to completely understand where he is buried is Seabisquit and have read many accounts and it seems to be narrowed down to on some of his owners land. Geez, but something I didn’t know was that he and War Admiral were about the same size. So interesting.
Peggy-It is believed that Seabiscuit is buried under a parking lot at Ridgewood. So far, the church that now owns the property is resisting having the parking lot razed.
Max
TC. We have lost many other resting places of great horses to parking lots, shopping malls and apartment complexes. Hastings is one of them whose grave is lost to us. No respect. Very sad.
Kathy
Terry,
I have always had a soft spot in my heart for Seabiscuit. My parents saw him race at Santa Anita. Loved the movie about him and the wonderful book by Laura Hillenbrand. So sad to think of him buried under a parking lot…
Terry Crow
Max and Kathy-I share your sentiments. Anyone who knows Ridgewood knows that the parking lot is directly across from the Howards’ home and fits the description of Seabicuit’s resting place completely, with the exception that there is no tree there.

This is still hard to talk about but Thank You so much for letting us know right away about the passing of baby Z Princess and the wonderful Memorial that you gave us a few blogs back. Zenyatta, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your momma; so sad to think of this as she gave birth to the greatest race horse mare…….YOU!

Hi All:
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Zenny’s mother, Vertigineux. In reading the posts, it seems like she passed away LAST YEAR? Do I have that right??? It is hard to believe that we are just hearing about this now. Zenny’s mother passed away, and no one said anything!!!!! I am shocked. I mean no disrespect. We are all very, very grateful that Team Z shares so much with us about Zenny. This is why I find this so shocking that we are just hearing/learning about this now.
I cannot help but to say, I feel very bad for Vertigineux. That poor mare–20 years old and they had to get one more foal out of her!!! Really!!!! I don’t know anything about breeding, but to me that’s abuse. She spent her entire life pregnant. I surely hope this will not be Zenny’s experience.
Vertigineux, thank you for giving us–the horse racing world, Zenyatta, and Ebby. Through them YOU gave us so much JOY!!! May you now Rest In Peace.
Thank you so much for your post , you put into words every thing I would have loved to say. I agree that she was a great Broodmare and deserved a mention if nothing else when she passe!!!. Something isn’t right and it seems so unfair. I watched her racing video and she was a damned good racer, its amazing to see that the Queen runs like her, coming from behind to win. May her soul rest in Perfect Peace, Now she rests in pastures green in Heaven. I wonder what she and the Princess are talking about. Thank you all @ Z Nation for giving her the respect and Honor she deserved. Z Nation family are the bestest. Good night to all and a Blessed and restful what is left of the weekend. With much love.
I think it was 2013 with her Tapit foal that should be racing this year. it is so sad we do
not get to hear much about the Broodmares; they live a very
sheltered life and Coolmore has a very large band.
Dear Peggy,
I left you a birthday greeting on the last page (7) of the previous blog entry. I do hope you had a nice birthday! Best Wishes, always.
Hugs and Love
Congratulations on your boy Night Prowler’s great Race. I did not watch the race but heard he almost won, as long as he keeps doing his best, that’s all that matters.
Now you can sleep easy and have a restful rest of the weekend. It is well always at Z Nation. Remain Blessed always. Much love.
To all Z’sters, hope all of you have a lovely Sunday!
Dear TC,
Bless you for remembering Judy’s Russ on Memorial Day. That was a well-deserved tribute. All those heroes have more than earned our respect, admiration and honor.
Take care!
Big Hugs and Love
Ballydoyle have entered a War Front colt in the Prix de Jockey Club today in France. He is one of three who will carry Coolmore hopes into the race. So far things have not been good in the win department for them. Ryan Moore is riding Cape Clear Island. Young Joe is with Highland Reel. Colm O’Donoghue has War Envoy, son of Zenyatta’s baby daddy. Odds are on the French trained horses to win. We’ll see.
Prepare yourself for what you need. If deep rest does not come naturally, give yourself reason to relax. Speak quietly and firmly to yourself of peace and release from stressful times. Comfort yourself with love the way you would comfort your child.
There is a power for peace, but it is not yours until you have recognized its Source. It is not an artificial substance, but a marvelous gift of a spiritual nature-and it is yours if you ask. Prepare yourself. It is the first step toward all good things.
The first American mingled with his pride a singular humility.

On this day in 1970 the greatest steeplechaser of all time went down in his box and went to sleep forever. His name was Arkle. He was just 13 and sadly denied a gentle old age.Known for his wonderful personality as well as his prowess over jumps.his timeform rating of 212 has never been surpassed not even by the likes of Kauto,Dessie or Denman. He will be ever remembered by NH fans. everywhere in the world.RIP Sheena.
But never again on a racecourse if for centuries we wait
Will we see your equal,Bold Arkle the great. So,from all of us who loved you so well,
We’ll remember you always.
Dear Judy,
Sorry to hear that you had to wait all day and Lola Mae was unable to
have surgery. Your doctor sounds very special. So glad you were able to get a first appointment on the 6th and she is enjoying her basket rides. Thoughts and prayers to you and Lola for the coming surgery and hoping for a successful outcome and a breeze through physical therapy for Lola. Hope you will soon be taking walks and playing
again.
Love and Hugs
Thank you for your continued prayers for my baby girl.
Can’t help thinking that if Mr. Kronfeld had lived, he might have retired Vertigineux from broodmare duty and sent her back to Mr. Robinson at Winter Quarter Farm to live out her life. It’s true, we wouldn’t have Z’s full brother, but V might have lived a happy, long retirement. We’ll never know. Love and Hugs, JB
Dear Kathy.Great devotional.Bob 2 arrived about an hour ago!!!He/she waited for the rain to stop!It was a miserable night but we have been promised warm weather later in the week.Poor Ronzo passed away early yesterday morning.Humans who treat our 4-legged friends so cruelly shouldn’t be allowed to live!!!At least no one can hurt him anymore. They are going to use the donations to help other abused animals.Zoe was so excited her team won!Going naked certainly helped I must give it some thought!!!!Did’nt she look so pretty in her new dress! Hope the cooking went well yesterday. My mum and Gran were good cooks too so am I actually but I don’t enjoy baking as much as they did.Did you hear about Fubu’s great-aunt she used to rescue a lot of kitties and has passed away.Kathy(tuxedo party)is getting better slowly but no diagnosis yet.Am sure she will be glad to get home to her pets.Have a blessed Sabbath.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly.Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.XOXO
Yay! 2 Bobs! So upset over the loss of Ronzo. That poor dog, may he rest in peace now. The humans responsible should be locked up and the key thrown away in my opinion. Zoe had a lot to celebrate. Her team won AND she got Banilla ice cream! Her new dress is so beautiful. Her mommy is a very good seamstress! The butter beans turned out pretty good. Not as good as my grandmother’s but still, okay. I didn’t know that about Fubu’s great-aunt. Good for her! Too bad another exemplary person is now gone. Glad to hear Kathy is better. Hope it will be a good diagnosis. She will be glad and her pets, too, when she gets home again. Blessed Sabbath to you as well. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO
Glesni beckoned Monty back to the nest. Glesni then chased after unrelentless intruder. You go Mama. They have to be on the look out at all times. Glesni took to the air again after intruder. I can’t tell if there are two hatchlings. I think they are going to have a very busy day protecting their familyThey are such devoted parents. Dear Lord protect this precious family.
Dear Max.Coolmore got a 2nd in the French Derby with Highland Reel but the master Andre Fabre won with New Bay.Aidan will have to try harder. Can’t wait to see what happens in our Derby next week.Sheena.
Another War Front, War Dispatch, got a third. He’s US owned and a very good horse.
I see that War Envoy showed solidarity with Coz by finishing last. On to the next race for all of them.
Dear Sheena,
I read that Adian had a couple of very nice well bred 2 year olds coming
up. in the photo on the article in racing post Adian had a big smile so hopefully
his racing luck will change.
Dear Judy, I am so sorry to hear of Lola’s long day and the delay with her surgery.
Happy to hear she is scheduled for the first appt on the 6th, pray it will be a success and that her recovery will go smoothly .In the meantime glad she is eating well and enjoying time with you indoors and outside in her basket.Hugs to your little girl and you.
I was so shocked and sad to hear of the passing of Zenny’s Mom, Vertigineux, last year.
She will watch over Princess as was said so sweetly in an earlier post, and I will think of beautiful Z Princess running free with her Grandma and Street Cry.It would be nice to see a tribute to Vertigineux at some point, she surely deserves one.
Peggy, congratulations to Night Prowler and look forward to hearing more about your amazing boy.
Sheena, two chicks in the nest-yippee.I loved the video of Glesni feeding her baby, the mullet is so much bigger than the chick! Glesni feeds Bob1 tiny morsels so lovingly.
RIP Vertigineux, Queen Mother, had you not appeared in this world, we would not have our Queen Zenyatta and our blessed Zenyatta family. Run free dear one. Nuzzle with your sweet granddaughter, ZPrincess. We are so grateful for your beautiful contribution into this world.
A very sad day that the Hollywood Park grandstand was demolished. A part of racing history and a place where some of Zenyatta’s fans cheered for her as she thrilled everyone with her beauty and come from the back running style. Also where she made her racing debut I believe.
Dear Debbie.I missed all the fun at the Dyfi earlier Blue 24 was back with a male intruder. We will have a video later!6 ospreys including the chicks there.Everything seems quiet now!Always drama at the Dyfi.Love and hugs Sheena.

Much love.
Marshall (NC Broad)

Tizgood
Dear Judy,
Sorry to hear that you had to wait all day and Lola Mae was unable to
have surgery.

Dear Tizgood:

RIP Willcox Inn. Run Free. Many condolences to the Jacksons.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Yay! Kathy XOXO

RIP Ronzo. You definitely are in a better place.

Max
Another War Front, War Dispatch, got a third. He’s US owned and a very good horse.
I see that War Envoy showed solidarity with Coz by finishing last. On to the next race for all of them.
Tizgood
Dear Sheena,
I read that Adian had a couple of very nice well bred 2 year olds coming
up. in the photo on the article in racing post Adian had a big smile so hopefully
his racing luck will change.

Mary Margaret in Georgia
RIP Vertigineux, Queen Mother, had you not appeared in this world, we would not have our Queen Zenyatta and our blessed Zenyatta family. Run free dear one. Nuzzle with your sweet granddaughter, ZPrincess. We are so grateful for your beautiful contribution into this world.
Janet Newman
A very sad day that the Hollywood Park grandstand was demolished. A part of racing history and a place where some of Zenyatta’s fans cheered for her as she thrilled everyone with her beauty and come from the back running style. Also where she made her racing debut I believe.
