John and Dottie sent us these photos of Coz having fun at Belmont. The box he opened was a gift from students at Westgate Middle School. Thank you Homeroom 215!
What a “Kid!” He is really something with such personality. Hope he can finally channel all that energy and charisma into his racing.
Thanks for some Friday cheer.
Judy, before I read your comments here, I had just posted almost the exact same sentiment on a Facebook posting of the notice of the Friday photos. I agree with you, and Coz may just have gotten more of his mom’s “hot” personality and needs more time to learn what to do with it. I recall that John in an interview about Zenyatta, said that early on, Zenyatta was very determined to have her own way, and once when he wanted to alter her route through the shedrow, she pitched a royal fit. In the interview, John said that was when he realized that he needed to “learn to get along with Zenyatta, rather than trying to train Zenyatta!” Steve Willard was famous for saying Z was a “hussy” early on, and no one could ride her until he decided to give it a go. We already know John has tremendous patience and if anyone can unlock Coz’ talent, it will be him.
Thanks to Dottie and John for providing these wonderful photos and “news” of John’s barn at Belmont. I can never get enough of news about Zenny’s “family”, and now that Ziconic is there, it makes it a double treat. Also, am hoping to see Harley Rose do well under John’s care. Cheers!
The news we’ve all been waiting for and anxious about. Lucky War Front! Has the pacing already begun? Coz is so magnificent looking. What a treat for him from his favorite homeroom class. Can’t wait to see Zic flying down the Belmont track. Everyone have a safe weekend. Counting the days until the Belmont Stakes!
How fun for Coz that he can still be a kid and doesn’t have to be adult.i guess I’m gonna say z is delivery next March 18. I have no idea the date she was bred. I know Apr.
Margaret, If I am calculating correctly, Zenyatta was bred on or close to the birthday of our beautiful angel Z Princess. May her spirit watch over her new baby “sister”?
Does Coz shine, or what!!!! Having so much fun with the traffic cone. How great for him to get gifts from his favorite homeroom class. He looks so regal showing them off. Always wonderful to see photos of Zenny’s boys. Thanks, Team Z, for this super start to the weekend.
Thank you for the photos! Coz seems to be so precocious! He looks great. I look for postings to hear how Coz is doing, seems like he is keeping a low profile…..so glad to see the photos!
Love following the entire Z family. There was a posting of Z’s half brother on FB, he looked so awesome as well.
Wishing all good health, be safe & have fun!!!!!

Thanks, Dottie and John.
Those photos of Cozzie Cone head are Too Cute! Coz has Personality Plus, too. We are so proud of your boys, Zenny.
Wow, look at that box. Way to go, Homeroom #215. Look at those posters….talent!
Happy weekend to all.
Special love to JB and Lola Mae.
Coz, you are really something. Pay attention to what your trainer wants you to do. You’ve got one of the best trainers, so trust him and learn.
Another note about Vertigineux. I contacted the lady who made the initial statement. She stands by it. So I have emailed Coolmore America’s Manager, asking the question. We’ll see if he answers…
Rest in Peace, Vertigineux. Coolmore America confirmed that she passed away 2 years ago. “Vertigineux hemorrhaged and died after foaling two years ago .
Regards”
Two years ago, wow. They do keep things under wraps. I wonder if she died giving birth to the Tapit foal she lost. I think it was Tapit she was in foal to, does anyone else recall?
Linda Daly
So bizarre, on Vertigineux Facebook, there are several postings that she passed from colic. A mare of her stature deserved a proper announcement. Fans should not be kept guessing and speculating.
Paulick Report posted the following on April 19, 2013:
Vertigineux foaled a full brother to Zenyatta at Ashford Stud on April 9, according to an announcement on Coolmore Stud’s Facebook page.
Ashford Stud manager Dermot Ryan said that the son of Street Cry was “a good quality bay colt,” and that “both mare and foal are doing well.”
My conclusion is that almost a month after Zenny’s full brother was born Vertigineux was still alive. Allie in Texas posted the reply she got from Coolmore America confirming that she passed away 2 years ago. “Vertigineux hemorrhaged and died after foaling two years ago.”
Now I admit I basically know nothing about “birthin’ baby horses” (puppies yes, but not horses) so I don’t understand what would cause a mare to hemorrhage a month after giving birth. Can someone please educate me on that?
Okay, now we know Vertigineux was there to welcome her granddaughter to the Rainbow Bridge. That is the only thing that gives me some comfort in our earthly loss of Z Princess.
Does ANYONE have any idea where Zenny’s full brother is now? He just turned 2 a few weeks ago. Does anyone know what his registered name is??? BTW, from the first picture I saw of Vertigineux I knew where Zenny got her beauty. Zenny looks so much like her Mom!
LauraJ (Cincinnati, OH)
Actually, I suspect that it was a mistake in a hasty reply and should have been “one year ago.” That would make more sense.
Do you remember how much Coz loved his ball?! I am happy to see he has found some new toys!! Good to see him having fun, hope he never loses his playful side.Coz,you look absolutely stunning!
He is so beautiful! Glad he is enjoying himself! Do you think him and his brother will ever take a picture together? Have they met yet? Thank you so very much for sharing the pictures, always brings smiles!!
Coz you beautyfull like mom, green grass, green trees and you with team, good rope i think it is convenient for to walk with you, seven years ago bay gelding Grifa allowed me lightly rush with him from hand, he was big kind horse, it was needed soft surface better grass, and free space to increase and to decrease speed, smile photo what is in box ? beautyfull Zenny Ziconic Coz kiss your soft noses
