I want you all to know that all of our California friends and dumplings are in my deepest prayers and heartfelt condolenses to all of you who have had to evacuate, and or suffered loss of home, pets, horses or God forbid loss of life or loved ones. These fires are just horrible and I am praying so hard for all in California. God bless you all. Love and hugz, Darlene
Thank you Darlene. It is a very scary thing, these winds. People having to evacuate large and small animals everywhere . Heartbreaking. And its all around us!!! Many, many homes destroyed in all 7 of these seven huge fires. Lost dogs running around . . .Everyone is rescuing lost animals. God bless us all!! Again, thank you.
Thurs. 3:55 am. Pacific time. All quiet for the moment but weather report says these immense cold winds will resume in the morning and go all day unto Friday .We’re all still packed and ready to evacuate. so far we’re OK.Everywhere else is burning. We are in the foothills of the San Gabriel MTS. up behind and over the ridge from Burbank. Fingers crossed it doesn’t come back this way.
Thinking of you and hoping you, yours and the horses are all out of harm’s way. Prayers for you, Trina and all those who have to evacuate. Stay safe. Love and Hugs, JB
7:48 AM Pacific time. Winds quiet here. News says it’s coming back but hasn’t restarted up here in Sunland, yet. Last night, In one ranch, in the Ventura fire, 29 horses burned up and died in heir stalls. Fire came in the middle of the night and came too “fast to save anything”. That ranch boarded other people’s horses. Fireman just came in the middle of the night and forced the family to evacuate. So Sad!! RIP all the horses. Owners are being called today. Oh how i feel for all of them. The fire was traveling with 50 MPH gusts. There was no way to rescue the horses. They should have gotten them out ahead. But these fires were traveling at random, leaping freeways in all squirrelly random moves dependent on capricious wind changing directions. I ache with sadness for those who lost their beloved horses. That fire is in Ventura and called the Thomas fire.
Hundreds of horses were evacuated from Shadow hills area which is part if the area called the Creek fire. That is our fire. It is 10% contained.and IS CURRENTLY located 10 min. from our home where our 2 adult horses are living at Bella Vista farm. These 2 are Lone Justice, our 10 yr. old gelding ex-race-horse. With him is our open broodmare, Addison’s Honor. Our YEARLING colt (Big Red Valentine) and filly ( Piru Pi) are up the mountain higher at Rancho Temescal. All thoroughbred horses there. Fire did not come near up there. But it is still a wind driven event so all we can do is pray and stay vigilant. So far all is well up there. Our home is in a mandatory evacuation area so we are still packed and ready to leave with our dogs and cats. All OK here now so hopefully all will continue well here. End of report for now. A third fire called the Skirball fire is being vigorously fought right now in west LA as it is threatening the Getty Museum. There are 4 more fires being fought at this time. One fire is moving North towards Carpenteria. Air quality is still bad.
So very, very sad about the horses who died in the fire. How frightened they must have been,RIP all.Good to hear you are all safe so far.If only I could some Welsh rain over to you.Keep safe and leave if you must.God bless you all Keeping all humans and especially animals affected in my prayers.
God bless all those innocent equine souls lost in that stable fire and all those who loved and cared for them. My heart breaks for them. Prayers for comfort to those who mourn, and continued prayers for those who have suffered. Please let the winds subside.
Hopes and prayers for you and yours, Marilyn, as well as for Trina, all dumplings and everyone affected by these awful fires. ??
Thankyou Marshall and all of you on Zenny’s website for your kind words, thoughts, and prayers for all of the injured, or mortally wounded equines. I cannot thank God enough for my horses being fine. All my prayers go to the friends and families of all of the wounded and or dead.
RIP valiant ones.
Our Delrene emailed a group of us news of those beautiful horses lost in that fire. Breaks our hearts. Prayers for the continued safety of your beloved horses and all life, human and animal, in the path of this devastation. Just horrible. Love and Hugs, JB
How is it possible that those horses were not evacuated from the path of that fire? Sorry. Am so devastated. Cannot understand??? Horrified and RIP to them all.
Good news about Hetti she will most probably go home in about 10 days to her new stable.Godolphin have offered Schiapareli’s services free in the spring given she is well enough.
A very frightening moment on Frankel Watch FB a Jihadi group posted a live video there.Donna deleted it right we have all told her to report it to the police. It is a closed group,Very scary.
Dear Judy.Douvan will not be running anywhere this weekend. We are expecting some of the white stuff tomorrow.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT and all the sweeties.Love and drugs SheenaX
Horrible devastation here. Worse and worse. We and our horses and household pets OK. For the moment . But horror all around us. Cannot burden you all with more. Please just pray for all the animals in SOCal. Thank you. Disaster here. I swear!! My prayers to Zenny must have played a part. Somehow!! Some magic there.
Will do! Lots of prayers for all animals, human and all other species, too. Our thoughts are with you. Please give the firefighters safety and success. ??
Please continue to let us know how you are doing. Glad you and yours are safe now and praying for all Californians in harms way. Hoping the winds subside and the fires can be controlled so no more lives lost. Love and Hugs, JB
Thanks for posting this. Welcome home CC — so glad you are back, and you look great!
I’m sure Santa Claus will be generous this year since you have always been such a good boy. Merry Christmas!!
Every time I think of those in California, I say a prayer. I cannot imagine what it is like to be there and not knowing how long I will be safe from the fire. I will continue to pray for all people and animals in the areas of the fires and hope that the winds die down soon.
Thank you for your reports, Marilyn; I appreciate you keeping us updated. I am glad that you & Trina were still safe when you last posted and I hope that you continue to stay that way.
Thinking of everyone in California & keeping you in my prayers.

All is safe with our horses. Babies and adults fine. We have been very lucky. But sadly at a training center IN SAN DIEGO ( Bonsall thoroughbred training center) last night they had to release all the horses due to the fast moving fire. Around 40 or 50 did not survive or were badly burned. Some of them were frozen in fear and refused to leave their stalls. Cliff Sise, one of our SOCAL trainers could not get his mare to leave her stall she absolutely refused!! They are mostly rounded up now (at least 500 horses) and in the 1000 stalls and on the race track in Del Mar. All local vets and horse people are there caring for the wounded animals. The thing u need to understand is that the fires come on so fast you cannot do anything. There is NO TIME. THE WINDS ARE 50 60 MPH. IT IS HORRIFYING!!!
I did not grow up in California. I have never seen anything like this. Only read about it in 1961 and 1965. I ache for all the families and for all those horses that died or are wounded. We cancelled our 38th wedding anniversary dinner for tonight and are simply staying home. We are still in an evacuation zone. So if fire comes back (always possible) we’ll just pack up our dogs and cats and go. More later.
I just read the article on Blood Horse about the fire that swept through the San Luis Rey facility. It’s worse than horrible. TB race card was cancelled for Los Al today because trainers are trying to find out how many horses were lost and get others situated at Del Mar.
Marily, thank you so much for all your updates. They are priceless for us back east and feeling so helpless. God bless you and your husband. Maybe a happier time to celebrate your anniversary will come soon.
Glorious to see Pete the Feat just win at Sandown. He will be 14 in a few weeks.Congratulations to the old boy and his connections.
