A terrified father found his small son wandering among strangers and scolded him, “I thought I told you to stay in the booth while I paid the check!” His teary reply was, “Daddy, I was trying to, but I don’t know where it is.”
Never assume anything. Don’t assume that someone else understands what you mean or what you have pictured in your mind. Every person perceives differently. What seems to be absolutely clear in my mind may be absolutely clear in your mind, but it is not the same picture. We are unique individuals with sending and receiving ability in our heads. If we seem to communicate on most things, it is a miracle. Simple things that most of us take for granted can be staggering to others. We assume too much, ask too much, and don’t take into account that everyone is not on the same wavelength. We need to remember this when we expect perfect performance.
It has been our wish to live here peaceably.

Dear Lane’s End – These photos of Anne and Zenyatta are just so precious. Thank you very much. They both look totally, deliriously happy. I just love it. Such joy in their faces.
We are so blessed to continue to have Zenyatta in our daily lives. Thank you again and hope your winter holidays are happy and healthy ones.
New trends and new ideas interest all of us, but how we do love the familiar. We like to keep the things dear to us, the old songs, the familiar places, the good faces. Yet most of us have no desire to go back and recapture the old times-we have invested too much in what counts for us now.
At times, however, we get tired of bending toward the future. When something familiar comes to our ears or a certain fragrance touches our memory, then we recall a part of us that remains in the past. It’s important to savor the familiar in the past, because sometimes that helps us to appreciate what we have today.
For it must be known that each man has his own peculiar song, and that he cannot sing that belonging to his comrade without this offering him an insult.
-Nicolas Perrot, 1718
Always beautiful when I see Zenyatta with Ann! Z is my true life time horse, who captured my heart and it will always be that way. It will never change. So when I see Zenyatta so happy with Ann it warms my heart.
hugs, Sally B.
Hope you and Vixana have had a fine day today. It was sunny here in NC and a very nice temperature, not too warm or too cool. Love these photos of you and Ann and especially, the playful hat routine!
When we are really secure, we can let someone else have the credit for a success and not complain. Sooner or later the truth will surface, and when the truth is known, life balances the accounts. Sometimes it appears that someone is getting something for nothing, but Emerson said there is always compensation for good or for bad. We never do anything in secret for which we are not rewarded, nor do we escape the effect in our own lives. It is the reciprocal law of life that we get back what we send out to others. This requires us to do the best we can and leave the judgments and the balancing to that which works out all things to perfection.
Do you know who I am that you speak of me so?

BC Juvenile Champ Texas Red Retired From Racing
by Paulick Report Staff | 12.08.2016 |
Texas Red, winner of the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile in 2014, has been retired from racing.
The Blood-Horse reports that stud plans are still being finalized for the 4-year-old son of Afleet Alex, who raced for the partnership of Erich Brehm, Wayne Detmar, Gene Voss, Lee Michaels, and Keith Desormeaux, who also trained the colt. http://www.paulickreport.com/news/bloodstock/bc-juvenile-champ-texas-red-retired-racing/
Thanks for this link! I do hope TR has a good life after retirement. Wishing him a very healthy, long life of being well-cared for and loved.
I noticed an article on this site which said Stradivari was euthanized after suffering complications in his recovery from the leg injury sustained back in July at Saratoga. It seems he was doing very well after surgery for quite awhile, but recently his condition worsened. So sad. Rest in Peace, beautiful boy.
Judy B and Marshall,
Thanks for your kind words and thoughts. I am recovering well except for a lack of energy and strength. As my grandmother would say, “My get up and go got up and went!”
Thanks to all of you all here on the Blog for posting all the news about our beloved horses. Especially, thanks to Ann and the Z team for the pics of Ann and Zenny and The Hat. True Love.
