Happy Wednesday,
We just love these photos that Alys took during a recent sunrise visit with Zenyatta. We’ll be on our way to Lane’s End next week for foal watch, and we’ll have lots of photos and updates to share during our stay. As always, we’re @teamzenyatta on Instagram and Twitter.
Enjoy!

Dear Sheena,
Hope you are well today. Happy Palm Sunday. The furbabies I’ve visited seem fine. I was worried about Zoe. She fell off the counter while Mommy was drying her off after her bath night before last. Hopefully she didn’t get hurt! I think we’re all starting to pace. Not much longer now! Jerry and Ann will arrive in KY very soon. So exciting! Have a beautiful day. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

Happy Birthday wishes to Dame Vera Lynn.
Those wonderful songs of the war era can never be topped — themes of love, hope and encouragement. The music of my parents generation is deeply ingrained in my life.

I was a fan of this horse last year. Very happy that he’s back in good form. He’s one bay winner among a lot of grays yesterday.

Cheltenham Gold cup winner Long Run has been retired after failing to show his old sparkle at Carlisle today and what did Sam get for his love for the horse and easing him down A 7 day ban.How sick is that???Shame on them.Enjoy your golden years Lennie.Hugs Sheena
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Sheena:
Wishing Champ, Long Run, a long and happy retirement. The jockey did what was best for LR. Good for him. Love and Hugs, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Sheena and Judy B.,
I agree with you; this is all wrong-headed. It seems that doing the right thing these days gets no appreciation. I am glad that the jockey has love and respect for the horse.
Hope Long Run has a very healthy and happy retirement with all the loving care he deserves. May he thrive for a long time!
Hugs and Love
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Marshall and Judy.We are all proud of Sam for doing the right thing.I know the Waley-Cohens didn’t have to run him after such a long lay-off but some common sense from the stewards wouldn’t have gone amiss after all the negative publicity we’ve had since the festival.Love and hugs Sheena
Max
There are racing rules, but then there is also common sense. Sounds to me as if Sam did the right thing for the horse. From what I’ve read, Long Run had a very difficult recovery from his injury, which was a freak one during shipping home from a race in France. He was not hurt on the track. They are appealing this ruling, and hopefully it will be reversed. Here’s to a long and happy retirement for Kauto’s rival. I won’t forget Long Run either in Kauto’s last King George.

Dear Ingrid:
If ZI wins on March 20th, the SA Derby might be too close to run again on April 9th. There is the Arkansas Derby, worth 100 points, on April 20th. You never know. Love and Hugs, JB

Thanks for the info. Good to see he has his mom’s Mike back. Nothing against Gary as he did a masterful job in the first race. Mike just seems to have a real connection with Zenyatta and her boys. Think he will like the distance.

OMG!!!! Now twice the nerves!!! Now where is mom and dad (also known as grandma and granddad) going to end up this week? Wow! John might be creating quite a problem for them! Best of luck and love for Zenyatta and her second son! Not sure I can handle all this stress!
Deb E.
I have a feeling that IF they have to split the difference, Mr. Moss would probably fly out to watch Zi and then take a fast plane back to Kentucky to be with Zenyatta while Ann will stay with Zenny in Kentucky. Are the Mosses at Lane’s End now?

Dear Sheena:
Oh my God, I’m upset for both of them, but one was an unlucky racing accident; the other is criminal I think. Poor babies. Rest In Peace Merchant and Basanite. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Max.Common sense seems to have flown out of the window these days.I hope Sam doesn’t get to miss Aintree. He has an excellent record there. What on earth did the officials want him to do force an exhausted horse to try and get a place?I have wished him a happy retirement on his FB.He is still a fairly young horse and can enjoy life now for a long time hopefully.Sheena.
Max
Long Run should be able to find something to do in retirement They say that he’s not interested in hunting, but there are a lot of other things for him to do. Or he can just be a horse and make it up as he goes along.
Saw an article about O’Brien getting ready for the flat season with 50 Ballydoyle horses out training together, among them Air Force Blue getting ready for the 2000. There was no news of Zenyatta’s brother. Have to keep looking for that.

Dear Judy.Boodie is a very pretty cat.I think she’s the shy one unlike Binga.Annie and Vautour were parading at the Curragh today.Fluffyland have had some sad cases recently especially a little foal with a bad fracture. They are going to give him a few happy days then put him to sleep.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Bentley and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

WOW! A new baby and Zi running all in one week. How special is that. Prayers for a safe delivery for our Zenny and baby and Zi.
RIP all that we have lost this week. It is just heart breaking. This sport we all love sure has its ups and downs. But the one thing we all have in common is the love for the horse.

Is someone missing in your life? Where is he or she when you need them? We like to think that everyone must be where we expect them to be, but life doesn’t work that way. Each life has a purpose, and the turns and twists of living bring that plan into being. Watch how things move and change and help us achieve what we set out to do-even when someone we think should be there to help us isn’t there. Speak to life and tell it what you expect. The spoken word has more power than we realize.
We don’t want anyone or anything missing in our lives, and we don’t want to be the one missing in someone else’s life. Yet we can’t always know the path our lives-or the lives of others-will take, and we should not worry about that. We need to remember not to let the world or our worries steal our peace of mind, for we can look for and expect to receive the answers we need. They will come.
I am here by the will of the Great Spirit…my heart is red and sweet…and I know it is sweet because everything that passes me by puts out its tongue to me.

I just wanted everyone to know how much I missed all of you. I now work for an animal/hospital clinic and am starting to take classes to let me into the horse side of life. I never let a day go by that I don’t mention Kari and Zenyatta and thank God that I am still here after cancer surgery. I carry Zenyatta on my key chain and in my heart, and pray for a safe delivery. Thank you all for being there in my time of need, love you, Michele from TX.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Michele,
I am so sorry that you have had health issues. Thank goodness you are back here with us and are recovering. It is good that you are starting classes to learn more about horses. That will give you something different to focus on. Horses are good for your mind and body, too. I am sure working at the animal clinic helps, also.
Sending healing thoughts and prayers to you for a quick return to good health. We have missed you, too. Please keep in touch.
Hugs and Love

Dear Kathy.A wonderful devotional as Christians worldwide celebrate Holy Week.I loved the Zoeism today”If God didn’t forgive sinners Heaven would be empty”Wise words from a dog for we all have sinned in some small way and to forgive heals the heart and soul.Sad news from Miss Dolly she is very sick and has visited the vet but no more news yet.Her mummy is asking for prayers.I am really concerned about Fubu 5 weeks now and not a word.Sam was paying tribute to Long Run today and is appealing the ridiculous steward’s decision.Lennie will have a heavenly retirement according to dad Robert. He may just be allowed to be a horse.Surely an exciting week with Zenyatta’s foal due any day and Ziconic running also Chromie in the Dubai World cup.I loved how Judy explained the meaning of Easter to mango bless her she was wearing a hat because it was chilly. The ratties hab a license for NJ and had a ride on the elefants plus it’s Monday again!Ray is annoyed they’ve had more snow in Boston.Lovely video of Jack O snoring and the 2 of them playing.I made a new friend called Nina Nina she is a chow-chow who lives in Brazil.I am learning some Portugese!.Remember to turtle-turtle.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
I seem to be running late today, so can’t tarry very long. Prayers for all animals who have recently crossed Rainbow Bridge, and prayers for those left behind to mourn their passing. Prayers for all animals and people who need a healing touch. Have a good day even if it is a Monday. I saw you had your sock at the ready. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. In Kathy’s Devotional, it mentioned finding something to love. Zenny, we love you! Hope all is well and maybe this week, you will drop another gorgeous foal?!
Poor Sam. Who would know better than a fine jockey respecting what they know to have under them. Anyway….thank you, Mike, Gary and riders in that group.
Happy Belated Birthday to Papa Charlie, blanket and hat bandit pro! Of course to the lovely, Hudson. A Blue Ribbon girl!
Now, Zi, how exciting and Friday can not get here any sooner.

We had our Azalea Festival Saturday. The azaleas were gorgeous. The weather was lovely and sunny but with a cold wind. For me the main attraction has always been the book sale which raises funds for our library. But, on Saturday I was drawn to the courthouse square where the Humane Society was having its adoption set up. I haven’t wanted to mention the loss last month of my Boo Boo. Some of you may recall my catastrophic life with pets. Boo Boo was just a baby but he had to be euthanized. I’d almost rather it had been me. So DEPRESSION TIME. Walked up the steps and there were the cages and then I spotted him and he spotted me. I tried talking myself out of it every which way. I even called my brother hoping? he’d talk me out of it. He told me I shouldn’t turn my back on love. There’s too little of it in the world now. So…Marlin is now sleeping on the foot of my bed and life looks a whole lot brighter. Forgive me for not talking about the great racing and the Ziconic excitement. Love, Love Love!
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Vicki,
Bless you — no apologies needed. We have all been there, some of us many times. I am so sorry about your Boo-Boo, but he knew he was loved and safe. He will be waiting for you, and you will be reunited one day. You have found the best remedy for loss and depression — Marlin! It sounds as though he knew before you did. Obviously, it was meant to be.
Here’s to a brighter day for you and Marlin!
Lots of Hugs and Love

Vicki,
We are all friends here and share each others sorrows and joys. So happy that God sent you Marlin. Boo-Boo is looking on and smiling at you both.

Does anyone know if Eblouissante was bred in 2015 and to whom? Where she is located, US or Europe? When she is due if pregnant? When she was retired she sort of fell off the earth. Thanks for any updates!
Many blessings to Zenny and her foal. Praying for a quick and healthy delivery.
