    Today is St. Patrick’s Day! As we speak, thousands (maybe millions) are laying out their favorite green shirt or tie to wear in celebration of the holiday. And, while this is really just good-hearted fun, the unfortunate part is how very little most of us know about the actual man who would eventually be called St. Patrick, who was himself a devoted missionary for Christ.

    Patrick was born in Britain into a Christian family arguably in the late 4th century A.D. However, it wasn’t until he was kidnapped by Irish pirates at 16 and sold into slavery into Ireland that he developed a true relationship with God. The anguish of being separated from his close family and desperation for freedom only deepened his faith. But, this is not where his story ends because, as we learn in Romans 8:28 (NIV), “in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

    After six years in captivity, he escaped and was reunited with his family. Story has it that he began having visions convincing him that God was calling him to return and preach the Word of God – to the very people who had held him captive. So, Patrick bravely followed God’s calling and returned to Ireland where over many decades he was devoted in ministry, planting churches, ordaining new ministers and more.

    Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. -Galatians 6:9 (NIV)

    Can you imagine what must have gone through Patrick’s mind when he heard the Lord’s call to return to the land where he was once a slave? He must have wondered if he was mad to consider placing his life in harm’s way again. But, instead of running to his safe place, he followed God’s plan for his life. And, isn’t this exactly what we are called to do?

    In Proverbs 3:5-6, it states: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Then in Jeremiah 29:11, it states: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” And, then again in James 4:15, it states “Instead, you ought to say, ‘If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.’”

    On this St. Patrick’s Day, why not spend a little quiet time with God? Be bold in asking Him about His plans for your life, what your next move should be, and listen closely to what He has to say. Take a few moments to honor and be inspired by the work of “the real St. Patrick” – a man who boldly listened to God’s calling in his life and in turn achieved so much for the Kingdom.

      Dear Abigail.One of your best!Well I would say that being British and loving Sprinter and the festival.Plus I was there to see it and I have never known such an atmosphere,We waited,we doubted but our champion came back and we will never forget his triumph against the odds.I was also so happy for Nico who sadly lost his mother to cancer a month ago aged just 59yrs,She ‘d be so proud.Sprinter is back where he belongs and,boy,does he know it.With love Sheena

He was coming on like a locomotive there at the last jumps. I had not seen the race before. Such a great story and with a happy outcome, too. I love it when that happens! Dreamland, indeed — The Sprinter is a dream come true.

    Beautiful photos of our Zenyatta in full bloom. Our “pacing” has begun and, like all of you, I’m hoping for a easy delivery for Z and a healthy foal for her to love and nurture. From the looks of the Queen in the pics, I think she’ll have a big colt or filly! I’m hoping for a dark bay with a couple of white socks and a slightly crooked blaze — and Z’s ears!

    Great video on Bloodhorse.com of Wise Dan and his brother grazing in their paddock. Both look very happy and healthy.

    So sad about Vicar. He was a brave little guy and it is a tragedy that laminitis has taken another.

    Well we know definitively why we haven’t seen a lot of Boo. Human had a baby girl. The dogs like to lick her toes! Nice pics of Judy, Nay, Ken and Diane in Santa Fe. The ratties enjoyed St. Paddy’s Day. They had special cookies. There was a vision test, “How many Milo’s do you see?” Maybe a little too much green beer! They advised calling a uber driver.     Dear Kathy.Thank you for that wonderful devotional.It means a lot to me especially this week.No one can spoil the emotion of Tuesday for me.You seem to understand my way of thinking.Poor Hovis and the women in his life and he worked so well.Karen had posted about it on his FB.She does adore him really!It’s good to see Young Joe filling out.He will get his trainer’s license in may but one of his horses Ivanovich G by the mighty Montjeu has just won the Triumph,A family portrait.It’s cold and cloudy there today.Yes,I read about Boo and his new sister and I completely forgot his birthday!It’s been that sort of week.Miss Diane and Mr Ken are having a great time with Judy and Nay.Sad there is no news of Fubu again has never been this long.Felix gains mor fans by the minute.Mullins leading trainer again and of course Shorty the top jockey,Should be back to normal next week.I haven’t visited the ratties yet.Wonderful video of Istabraq at his beautiful home with JP.They had to stop his racecourse appearances because he would get so excited he would colic.He stays indoors during the winter and then has to visit the gym to get the weight off.He will be 24 in May and was enjoying his carrots.Have a wonderful Friday.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO

    Wow Victoria came in 5th in the foxhunters!!!But Nina Carberry won on On the Fringe.Sadly we lost a Mullins horse Long Dog who fractured his leg(between the hurdles).Ground maybe too firm for an Irish horse but course was watered.RIP Long Dog.Sheena

    Zenny i like your photos in fog, you look quiet, Zenny do all quietly and not quickly, drink enough amount of clean not cold water, horses drink slowly, eat apples, care of your health, hello to your stablemates, Coz and Zi breeze carefully, not often, choose sloppy course, Coz and Zi walk on air with groom, have bath, eat apples and more follow your usual everyday routine than breeze quickly, care of back neck legs hooves health, beautyfull Zenny Zi Coz and mates stay comfy and cozy eat apples care of your health, kiss your soft noses, lil 14z filly Dubai im remembering you
