It’s day eight of foal watch, and Zenyatta does not seem to be in a hurry. We love that we get to see her every day. Scroll down for photos from this afternoon.
These pictures of Ann with her Zenyatta just warms my heart! Jerry too! I am so thrilled they share such a great love for Z.
Sweet baby, please come out soon and see this beautiful world and your mamma!! I am waiting! You could have a wonderful birthday present Z! Praying for you both with love forever.
Kisses too, Auntie Sally B

O.K Big Lady, time to have this little one come into the world.

RIP Ronnie Corbett one of our best loved comedians who died peacefully this morning surrounded by his family.Aged 85yrs he was better known for his partnership with his partner Ronnie Corbett.Their show”The two Ronnies” was a fixture on Saturday night TV during the 70’s and 80’s.Good clean fun.Now making God laugh.Hugs Sheena.
RIP actress Patty Duke who passed away earlier this week aged 69yrs.Well known over here for playing Helen Keller in “The Miracle Worker”Hugs Sheena
Thank you Sheena for all the updated you give us all about everything. I noticed today Blue24 & Dai Dot have taken over Glesni’s & Monty’s nest, temporarily, I hope. I caught Dai Dot covering Blue twice earlier today. I hope there won’t be too much rumbling when G & M return. Take good care, Mary Margaret
Barb, I guess you must be new here. Otherwise you’d know that Sheena’s been posting about doings on her side of the pond for lo these many years. She’s introduced us not only to favorite European race horses, but also to the very amusing Hovis and the Dyfi ospreys (to name a couple), over the objections of absolutely no one. Conversations on the blog often range far afield. Everyone here loves Zenyatta; however, there are only so many ways one can say, “I love Zenyatta,” “God bless Zenyatta,” “She looks huge,” and so forth. This is a community of friends. So people talk about other things that matter to them, too–other horses, missing pets, redneck jokes, Cherokee devotionals, happy birthday wishes, etc.
If a particular subject is not of interest, scroll past. It’s easy enough. Or if you don’t like the blog conversations, read the blog itself and look at the pictures and ignore the comments entirely. If you want more targeted discussions, try the forum side.
Dear Laura.Thank so much for you very kind remarks. As I am sure you know I always put up an RIP when someone well-known dies either side of the pond.People don’t have to read my posts but there was no need of the lady to insult the dead.I talk about a variety of subjects.I consider ourselves a family of animal lovers.Today I am worried for Holly Kathy’s dog and I think of Peggy’s cat Jordan every night.Once again thanks very much.Love and hugs.Sheena

Dear Laura J and Sheena:
Thank you for the many informative and compassionate commentary that you post on Z’s Blog. Always enjoy them and now they are even more welcome as we wait (anxiously) for the new baby.
Everything on this site is about Zenyatta, including her love for everyone around her no matter if they are regular people who happen to be fans if racing or horses in general or if they are celebrities with household names. She is an inspiration to all who love her to be kind and compassionate.
Ann NC
Very nice, so true.
Z fans are always there for each other, lending prayers, support and kind thoughts, whatever the circumstances may be.
Love to all.
It’s always bothered me when people add things that have nothing to do with our beloved Queen. There is another time and place for such things.
shirleeinindy
Melann,
As LauraJ said, there are only so many ways you can say you love Zenyatta and the boys, how much you anticipate the coming foal and how big she has gotten. For many years we have been having lively discussions about Zenyatta and her family as well as other horses and people. Zenny’s Facebook is dedicated to her and her only. If there is something I am not particularly interested in here on the blog, I just scroll on past.
Thank you for remembering Patty Duke and Ronnie Corbett (I regret that I am not familiar with Mr. Corbett though).
RIP Ronnie Corbett
RIP Patty Duke I watched your TV show, “The Patty Duke Show”, when I was young, and of course, you were incredible in “The Miracle Worker”. Thank you for your wonderful acting.
These pictures are just lovely. I am sure it is calming for you, Zenny, to have your Jerry and Ann nearby. We are so pumped up with excitement, but we will be relieved when it is over. Safe labor, precious girl. Hugs to all.
Party for Zenyatta tomorrow! Big girls has her birthday, along with Ziconic. Maybe new foal would like to share the date? Happy days! Patiently awaiting new foal; colt, filly, no matter. Safe delivery for the Queen!
Pace,pace,pace,pace…Day 31 (WOW!)
I am convinced that Zenny wants another birthday present baby and that Z16 will be making his or her LONG awaited appearance just in time to join Zenyatta at her party tomorrow. That would be too cute since Ziconic missed the party. He came along a few hours later.
I think Zenyatta is so happy to have Jerry and Ann around, she’s delaying this as long as possible. What wonderful photos. She does seem to like to celebrate her birthday with her family. The waiting continues…
A very sad story on one of our racing FB’s today about a lame 2yr old grey filly taken straight off the racetrack and put in a kill-pen in Louisana.I think she has beenSheena saved.Patricia is keeping us updated Sheena.
What wonderful new photos of our Queen with her human mom and pop! I always enjoy the looks of love that pass between these three and Kyle has captured great shots again. We are patiently waiting for this new little prince or princess but the most important thing is for a healthy, easy delivery and a happy, healthy Zenyatta and foal. Prayers and good wishes!!
I think Z is enjoying her visit with her family so much that she is holding that baby inside. I know every time they come to see her they bring treats and lots of love. Great pictures today. She is getting BIG! When is the next big change in the weather?
Doreen,
Thanks for reminding us of the birthday of the great AP Indy! Long may he reign as the King of Lane’s End. Aren’t they lucky there to have the King and Queen of racing there at the farm!
Thanks very much for posting his birthday, I didn’t know it was today and I didn’t know he is 27 years young. Always good to get this news!
Thank you Sue
Thank you Sue for posting a pic of AP. He hasn’t changed much over the years. I was surprised when I saw he was 27 years young, but he seems to have a youthful spirit about him. Long live the King!!!
Zenny has that sparkle back in her eyes! It’s plain to see that she loves her owners. One thing I have been wondering about though. I’ve seen several photos of Zenny and the Moss’s. It struck me that Jerry never seems to pet her. Is he afraid of her?
Christine, I have noticed that, too?? The love that Zenny has for Ann is so beautiful to see and I am sure their presence gives Z comfort. Hope this delivery goes smoothly, quickly and safely for Zenny and baby.
Jerry and Zenyatta, chin to chin, is adorable.
Prayers continuing for a safe delivery.
Maybe on Zenyatta’s birthday, That would be fun. I’m so anxious to know all is well.
I was hoping Z’s Precious Little One would be born on Secretariat’s B-Day, which was yesterday. My Prayers are for a safe delivery, whenever the Little Precious makes it’s debut into this world.
Thank You, Jerry & Ann for sharing Your Awesome Queen with us :)
Today’s devo:
LOVING OTHERS WELL
by Andrea @ DaySpring
John 13:34-35 (TLB) says, “And so I am giving a new commandment to you now – love each other just as much as I love you. Your strong love for each other will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”
Just think about it – there is not one person Jesus does not love and did not come to save – this includes everyone you lock eyes with, walk past on the street, hear about in the news, live next door to, stand behind in line at the grocery store, or sit next to in the waiting room. When we actively love those around us, putting their needs before our own, we are taking the same amazing love that Jesus has poured out to us and becoming a living, breathing, beautiful display for humanity.
You see, while many believe love is a just a nice, heart-warming feeling, as Christians, we are called for it to be more than that – we are called to take action. We can share God’s love by noticing the unnoticed, loving the unlovely, or even by extending grace to those who are not so easy to be around.
Romans 12:9-10,13-16 (MSG), gives us a great example of what love looks like in action:
“Love from the center of who you are; don’t fake it. Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good. Be good friends who love deeply; practice playing second fiddle… Help needy Christians; be inventive in hospitality. Bless your enemies; no cursing under your breath. Laugh with your happy friends when they’re happy; share tears when they’re down. Get along with each other; don’t be stuck-up. Make friends with nobodies; don’t be the great somebody.”
Let’s make it our prayer today to ask God to help us actively love others – to actively walk across the street to help our neighbors, to actively cook a warm meal for a friend in need, or to actively visit a near-by nursing home to love on the elderly. Let us ask Him to lead us to places where He wants us to shine His light and ask Him for the courage and strength to share His love with all who surround us in our daily lives. And, maybe when we do this, we will guide people to His beauty and they, too, will begin to actively love others and then, who knows how many lives will be impacted?
What terrific photos! A true joy to see Jerry getting such a kick out of his two gorgeous ladies! But Zenny, as always, is killing us with anticipation…..!
Dear Mary Margaret.Dai and Blue have been busy mating plus Blue 5F is fighting Blue a lot.As they said “Let’s get ready to rumble when Monty and Glesni return”Glesni looks as if she will have 2 girls to fight off this year. It’s going to be exciting this week.Hugs Sheena
In that first photo with Ann, Zenny is thinking “I maybe detect some peppermints in your pocket, Mom. Yes please.” Sweet to watch them all together again. Will you send us an email when the royal baby arrives Team Z? I am signed up. Thanks.
I am no expert and no one has responded yet, but I would think this may provide a more comfortable layer against her coat and skin to prevent irritation. Perhaps we’ll find out soon.
Zenyatta may be wearing the green headband because her halter may have rubbed her behind her ears or to prevent the rubbing. I do not know the significance of the green color, though. It probably means whatever the green tape on her halter has.
I am surprised that no one has yet mentioned that Calvin Borel announced his retirement today. He had horses lined up to ride at races coming up at Oaklawn, but won’t be riding them. The only reason given for his retirement was that he just said that “It’s time”. Happy retirement Calvin! I wonder if he will still be involved in racing some other way.
I found someone at work today who will let me use his phone to check on you during the day, Mama Z. Now I won’t have to wait until I get home from work!
Enjoy your time together, Ann, Jerry & Z! Z, you are in my prayers for a quick & easy delivery once your baby decides to come.
I am also keeping Kathy & Holly & Peggy & Jordan & anyone else who needs them in my prayers.
BGG posted a link to an article about Calvin Borel’s retirement on page 5 of the previous blog entry (Foal Watch Day 6). Check there to see a few responses to CB’s retirement.
