Yesterday was our third day in Kentucky for foal watch 2016. Zenyatta was in the mood for carrots and quality time with Ann, and she had plenty of both!
As promised, we have some fun facts to share about Zenyatta’s current paddock mate. She was not only bred and named by Jerry and Ann Moss, but just like Zenyatta, she was sired by Street Cry. She and Zenyatta have grown quite close in the last few months, and it delights us to see Zenny share her treats with a friend.
We won’t be following this mare, who never raced, on our website but we thought this information was too cute not to share! We look forward to watching Zenyatta and her friend raise their foals together.
Day four of foal watch begins!

Thank you, Team Z, for these lovely, touching photos of Z and Mrs. M. We are truly grateful to be included in your wonderful family through this most excellent blog!
Glad Z has such a nice relative as her paddock mate, too.
Rest well and sweet dreams, dear Z. Love you bunches!
Hugs and Love

Nothing can replace the thrill of watching Zenyatta, but it was so much fun to have Ziconic and then California Chrome to root for the past 2 days. CC looked spectacular, and I was jumping up and down during his stretch run. Can’t wait for their next starts, along with Coz.

Thank you for sharing these wonderful pictures and news of Z. It does make me sad that we don’t know her paddock pal’s name though. She may not have raced but she’s a mom and Zenny’s friend.

Love the pictures of Z & Mommy:)
Chrome was phenomenal. He’s a true superstar. A great ride by Victor especially given the saddle situation!

Happy Easter!
It’s freezing, (it almost always close to or at freezing on Easter here), and we’re leaving for sunrise service in just over an hour. It’s outside, and we all sit on metal bleachers that are in a U-shape that are on the foothills of the mountain.. There is a very large metal cross that is soft-silver colored on the mountainside nearby, and every year, while we’re all gathered there, a dove comes and settles at the top of the cross for the whole time. I hope he’s there today. I think he loves the singing and the company.
Zenny, hope you’re baby arrives today. Love you so much and love everyone on this website. Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday. with love, Elizabeth

Elizabeth, Your Easter service sounds wonderful. You are fortunate to have such a spiritual setting. I hope the dove is there for you. Happy Easter!
Elizabeth in New Mexico
Dear Celeste,
Thank you for your hope for our dove this morning. He showed up during our pastor’s message . . . just at the right time as the sun came up over the mountains. I think this might be the 4th year the dove has come, and as always, landed on top of the cross. Two new members of our Bible Study group were there with us, and we all got to see the dove land and take off again. A wonderful God we have – full of surprises! I hope you share in the moment from imagining be there.
with love, Elizabeth
PS This morning was cold (as always), but not quite as cold as the past years we’ve all been together (usually about 200-300 come for the early Easter service and more than that during the later one that’s indoors).
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
So glad that the dove arrived on cue! The service sounds like an amazing experience that was worth the cold, early morning :-)
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Elizabeth,
I am so glad the Easter dove arrived right on time — sort of like a promise fulfilled. The sunrise service sounds beautiful! So happy that you had a good crowd, also. I went to our 7:30 AM service as I usually do, but the attendance was a little off, I think. Perhaps because of the drizzly, gray, cool weather this morning, and spring break at UNC. I’m sure the 9, 11:15 and 5:15 services will have good turnouts, especially the 9 AM.
Have a wonderful Easter Sunday and a good week!
Hugs and Love

Dear Celeste, Sandy, Marshall, and Sue,
It’s so nice how some small act or moment can bring such joy. It so fun to share rare and beautiful memories. Thank you for your comments about ‘the dove’. Will
try to remember to give you another dove update next Easter. with love, Elizabeth

March 27 Cherokee Devotional
Stand on the highest spot, E lis i told us, and reach your arms into the sky and worship. Grandmother was specific in her directions, and we followed what she said. She told us not to worship the stars or the moon, but to worship the One God who was unseen but always present. Sometimes, on rough days, our faith slipped, but it always came back. We knew who we were and we knew who he was and is. The rough times reminded us of our weakness and frailty. But we were-and are-never alone.
When I walk my Cherokee land, I feel my grandmother telling me the same things she told me when I was a child. She reminds me never to forget them. I may be one little person but never alone-the One God is always there with me.
My heart is very strong.

I am just wondering what is Zenny’s friend’s name? She looks like she has a very nice disposition.
Love to all.

I recall a few hours before Zenyatta’s water broke for Coz Ann and Jerry had a picture taken of the three of them in the walkway of the barn. It was the sweetest picture. The caption read her water broke few hours later. Why not do that again her fans will love it and all that good energy will make the big moment happen again. You have my my best wishes.
Cathi
Yes I remember that picture, it is always a Happy Day to see Ann & Jerry with Zenyatta.
There is so much love for her and Zenyatta gives it back to them in return.
The photo you were talking about is actually here under Coz I think it. Or maybe or perhaps under Zenyatta.

Dear Sheena,

Can’t say enough nice things about Ann and Jerry Moss! How lucky are we, Zenyatta’s, fans to be able to view these tender moments! Thank God for great loving horse people! Can’t wait for the new foal!! Love Zenyatta!

8:45 on Easter morning and no baby. Or at least if one arrived, no notice yet. Joyous
Easter to all my friends here on the blog. What a privilege it is to be friends with so many people from all over the world and to be joined in our love of Zenyatta and her family, both horse and human. Safe and happy Easter to all.

Victory in the Ryanair at Fairyhouse eludes Willie Mullins yet again. Kerry Lee won with Kylemore Lough. Mullins got second with Outlander. Outlander ran from a 10 day layoff after falling at Cheltenham. Mullins doesn’t go with long layoffs if the horse is ready.

Happy Easter to All!!
I’m still flying high on that Chromey’s win…..I was screaming so loud I think he heard me in Dubai. What a courageous horse and jockey to not only win with that saddle slip but break the track record!!! It would be like us trying to run with our pants around our knees…..ha, ha. He is magnificent and all those who knocked him because of his pedigree better just eat crow. I pray he has a safe trip home, soon, with all the crazy things going on over there.
Zenny, I see you’re still keeping that baby a secret!! We are all just dying to see your new precious bundle…..so pop it out of that nice warm oven. Prayers for safe delivery and healthy he/she soon. hugs to all

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL THOSE DRENCHED IN CHOCOLATE TODAY!
And for you, Ms Zenny — a cart of carrots!!! Never a better day for it.
Like Sue & others, I was beyond thrilled for Chrome & his Team yesterday. I cried like a baby. Finally, this great horse and his superlative Team get the credit they have always deserved!!!!!!
Love & hugs

Mising Easter service due to nasty cold. I love hearing the Hallelujah Chorus. Bummer.
Zenyatta and her friend are so sweet together.
I am going over to read about Ziconic and CC.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Happy Easter everyone! It’s an unbelievably nice day here on the north coast (usually when winter comes this early, we are bundled up to our ears). I know it’s not so nice in many parts of the country so I hope everyone endures and stays safe!
Sending lots of love, Zenny, and a big thank you to all of Team Z. We’re ready when you are!
Janet Newman
Sandy,
If this foal comes on March 30th, he or she would share that day with the great Secretariat. Getting excited for the 2016 models debut!

We’ve sure spent a lot of Easter Sundays together through Zenyatta. Thanks for the update, we appreciate your reports.

Ziconic does need more work at the gate, and he runs green; he also might be a little studish and feisty at times. He does show flashes of ability, he just needs to learn how to use it. Also, can you imagine being all worked up, and ready to race, the gate opens, and a bird is flying right in front of you; I’d back up too!! He wants to run, and I still say he can be something special, I think this race can be a throw-away. I wonder how he would do with blinkers, and cotton in his ears? He is very intelligent, loves the cameras (like mom) maybe that would quite him down some, and keep his attention on racing, instead of other things. Does anyone know if John ever uses blinkers on any of his horses? Another thing, he technically isn’t even 3 until April 1st, remember, he was born when Zenny came back from her birthday party; Zenyatta didn’t start racing until the end of her 3rd year. Maybe John gave in to some pressure because of the Tappit side of his pedigree. Maybe he will be ready before Zenny was or Coz, but that is a lot faster; give him some time, he has more going for him then not.
California Chrome winning this race the way he did, with the strongest field ever, had to put a stop to all the people that knocked him down. That was (as the press said) Amazing! Brilliant! Historic! Gave professional horse people chills! I was shaking for a hour afterwards! I was so proud and happy for him; HE SHOWED EVERYONE!!
The farm and investors are really going to back him, and they already have a strong connection to him. He is the top money earner outside of Japan. He is sound, but they admit he has raced a lot since 2; I hope they all don’t get greedy for money and notoriety, at the cost of the horse!! He has done enough, he has raced on all surfaces and won, he is sound, he has demolished the field in the richest race in the world, under circumstances that most horses would have thrown in the towel. Let this courageous horse, start passing these good qualities on to the breed; it would be the worse and unnecessary thing to have something happen to him on the track!!!

Happy Easter greetings to our beautiful Zenyatta and friend, the Mosses and all of Team Z, and all our Z Dumpling family. It’s been an exciting weekend and I am sure we all agree that Zenny should get all the carrots she wants-even a carrot cake on her birthday if she wants. She’ll probably share it with her friend because she’s that kind of Queen. Praying for a safe and sound delivery of that special gift of the next little z.
Dee in the Hudson Valley
Thanks to Lane’s End and Team Z for brightening our Easter weekend. Such a treat to see Mrs M and Queen Z all lovey-dovey together! Thanks, too, for sharing info about Zenny’s sweet paddock mate (half-sister?) but we would have liked to know her name as well (is it Violet Rose?). Quite a weekend for thoroughbred lovers, what with chances to watch baby Ziconic and the seasoned champ Chromey. Wishing Zenny and Violet Rose and their foals safe, love-filled birth days…
