We’re still waiting! It’s day seventeen of foal watch, and it could happen any day now. In the meantime here are some more photos from our time here at Lane’s End.
Was just looking at pictures of the beautiful Zenyatta and felt so inspired I wrote this:
As I cup my ear to the church of Zenyatta, I hear you sleep awaiting a new treasure for the sweet smell of Kentucky grass fills your lungs as your dream become ours…
Well Zen missed 4-1-16 her and little Z’s birthday. Then she missed the 7th a lucky number. So now I’m going to shoot for the 10th which is a good number. We’ll see. Love you Zen please give us our baby!!!
Dear Max.I have been looking for more details about RTW it seems he was 2nd in an Irish National once but fell in the Galway Plate last year. The GN was his 1st win over fences.Mouse said if he’d had a good backside he would have been a wonder horse!Mouse has a difficult time with his son dying while travelling in South America last year.
It certainly looks as if Willie could win the Trainers Title he is determined to send horses over until our main season ends later this month,Paul was out of luck at the Aintree meet.Sheena
RTW is a GB horse. His talent lies on both sides of his pedigree. Nijinsky is on his sire line. His mom is a dual purpose winner both on the flat and over hurdles. It looks as if he really came into his own in the biggest race of his life. Isn’t David Mullins the jockey who rode Nichols Canyon to defeat Faugheen? His uncle Willie said that David is a cool customer. I saw an interview with David on BBC. He’s modest, self controlled and thoughtful, and horses are his only interest. One Brit writer said that the Mullins family is either training winning racehorses or producing top class jockeys. True!
Paul will win on another day. Right now it is difficult to turn aside the Mullins juggernaut. If he can train a horse like Yorkhill to victory against all odds, there’s no stopping Mullins at the moment.
There’s nothing stopping Mullins at the moment.Yes,David rode Nichol’s Canyon that day.He really is a classy young guy. It’s difficult when you watch a race live but I noticed in the replay he gave RTW a nice breather in the middle of the race. Many Clouds who everyone seemed to concentrate on this year thinking he’d be the first since Red Rum to win back to back is to have a wind op before next season.I cannot wait for next season with Mullins team Faugheen will be back who will shorty chose in the Champion Hurdle?Annie has had a remarkable. few months. He said Vautour was fine after his unexpected fall,He really should get the honorary knighthood now Come on Your Majesty Sheena

I know how you are proud of the Queen and the British hereditary class system. Mullins however is probably looking for the racing title only, which is earned by winning against the Brits, literally on their own turf. The Irish are otherwise fiercely republican like the US. They fought a long and hard battle for their freedom inspired by 1776. It’s still not over for that racing title, which hasn’t been won by the Irish since Vincent O’Brien. The racing gods could still turn the tables.
Shocker in the Ashland Stakes. Weep No More (Mineshaft) won at 30 to 1 odds. RA was second by a neck and CS was third by 1/2 length. Here’s the replay. Love and Hugs, JB
Dear Judy B.,
Thanks a million for posting the link to the Ashland Stakes! AWESOME!!
What a surprise victory — yes, I do think Weep No More was feeling her “inner Zenyatta”.
She sure didn’t look like 30-1 (whatever that looks like), Wow!
Was just checking Weep No More’s Dam’s pedigree. Her name is Crosswinds and is a daughter of Storm Cat out of Flute (Seattle Slew). Weep No More has some really good genes. With the exception of an 8th place finish in her first start, Weep No More has won her next three starts (including today). I think she’s a force to be reckoned with.
Here’s a beautiful photo of WNM. Love and Hugs, JB
Judy,
Thanks for the picture. WNM. The look on the face of Val’s jockey is something. He looks as if he had no idea the other filly was closing. Congrats to her connections. But, like a fond parent, I am going to find all kinds of reasons for her beating Little Rachel!
Thanks, JB. Great photo and race. All beautiful girls and fierce.
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee and Ann:
All beautiful girls, indeed. Shirlee, Valentina will always have a special place in my heart too. I think you are right; the other jockeys were in shock when WNM closed like she did. Love and Hugs, JB
How wonderful to see so many names on Z’s blog all pacing and praying for the love of Zenyatta and her new gift to this world.
Sweetheart Z, all I wish for is your relief and health with birth of your healthy foal.
The sooner the better! but if not perhaps you will have baby on my granddaughters birthday April 11. She is beautiful like you.
Love you with kisses
Auntie Sally B
Thanks for posting this link — really fun to watch!
Love it! I would have missed this entirely if you hadn’t posted it.
I am happy that Violet Rose attended the party, too. Both girls looked all shiny and lovely for the occasion.
Picked Outwork in our Capping Contest. Love his Daddy and Johnny V aboard sealed the deal for me. Don’t think it’s possible for me to choose just one in this Derby field. Thank you for posting this article and video of O. Love and Hugs, JB
Judy and Marshall: Mo has always been a favorite of Z people and he’s off to a wonderful start as a sire. It would be really something if one of his sons took the KD this year. It’s going to be interesting to see how things turn out. Mo has Kris S and Roberto on the distaff like Zenyatta.
Dear Judy. Our Grand National went well with no injuries to horse or rider,Betsy is eating a little and wagged her tail today! She wants to live.I am always amazed how animals learn to trust humans again especially after her horrific ordeal.Any news of Jordan yet?I think of him and Peggy a lot.
Blue was back on the Dyfi today then flew up to Glaslyn got a free lunch by nicking Mrs G’s fish and arrived back at the Dyfi around 4pm.Oh, she adores Monty!Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Bentley and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
So happy no injuries in the GN and healing prayers for little Betsy. Some good news may be developing with Jordan. Will let you know as soon as I know more.

Wow Zenny, still no baby!!!! Well, I can’t blame you. You didn’t want to miss out on such a great race day. Congratulations to all the winners. Very exciting!!
Praying for a easy delivery. I hope I wake up to see
It’s a Filly or It’s a Colt……. I’m sure that Ann, Jerry and the entire Lane’s End Team are getting more excited each day. Just had a thought, Zenny is doing what she always did, hang back, then Boom….stepped up that closing gear.
My fingers are wearing out the keyboard with my pacing back and forth. :-)
I wonder how much this little bundle of joy is going to weigh, Zenny is so huge.
April 10th today and no news yet. Waiting everyday to hear something. My goodness Zenyatta your baby is taking him or her time to come into this world. Praying for a safe and easy delivery. Love You Zenyatta!!!

Elizabeth,

Thank you so much, Team Z, for this newest update and photos. I am sure Zenyatta is enjoying her visits with Ann such a great deal, she is forgetting that she needs to have that foal. As long as they are both healthy and her foaling goes easily, what does it matter how much time it takes? Those of us pacing are the ones having the melt-downs – Zenny looks from these pictures, to be taking it all in stride. She is beautiful and so is Ann and I enjoy watching the special bond they share. Thank you sincerely.
Heading out to the races at Keeneland after a very cold 2 days! Today will be a little warmer. The horses were all beautiful and had safe trips. Can’t wait for Zenyatta to foal. Thank you for the pictures and updates.
