We’re still waiting! It’s day seventeen of foal watch, and it could happen any day now. In the meantime here are some more photos from our time here at Lane’s End.
Good morning Zenny,
So fun looking at the beautiful photos everyday and reading everyone’s comments. How exciting to have a new foal running about soon! So excited for you and everyone. It won’t be long.
with love from one of your pacing aunties, Elizabeth
Thank you for the gorgeous pictures, what a love for each other they have, I think Zenny has the personality of a dog. Prayers for safe delivery. hugs to all
What a treat to find these wonderful pictures this morning (somewhat less wonderful was finding 6 inches of heavy, wet SNOW!!). Mother Nature seems a bit wacky at the moment – maybe that is affecting foaling schedules as well ? Anyhow, we are grateful to Team Z for sharing the wonder of the loving relationship between Ann and Zenny. Agree with those who also got teary-eyed while viewing. So nice to see so many old friends posting as we wait and wait and wait . . . . .
Zenyatta and Ann; such natural beauty. I truly loved the pictures!
Wish Z would eat the peels of the banana and baby would just slide out.
Love and prayers
Auntie Sally B
Thank you so much for sharing with us. It is truly beautiful to see the bond between Zenyatta and Mrs. Moss. I know, personally, how strong the connection between horse and owner can become. And, with these two, it is evident that they
love each other deeply.
It is a privilege to be included in this part of Zenyatta’s life. While many mares are whisked away to the breeding shed, and their fans never hear about them again, Team Z has always been so gracious in allowing all of Zenyatta’s fans to continue to be a part of her (and her babies) life–through both happiness and sadness. For this, we are grateful.
Best wishes to all of Team Z, and especially to “our” beautiful Zenyatta…may she have a safe delivery and healthy foal.
Thanks to Kyle, Ann and all of Team Z for the beautiful pictures. Such love and affection between two grand ladies. It does look as if Ann might have had a bite of banana too in the one photo.
Dear Kathy.I had missed these new photos I had really expected the foal to have arrived by now!I woke to a winter wonderland today very heavy hail showers has cleared now very soft ground at Aintree this year. The website at the Dyfi is working today and they have very high spring tides.Monty is considering joining the RNLI.It’s a great new site take a look sometime.I hadn’t visited Atticus in a while and was shocked to hear Tom is pretty bad.He is in hospital on dialysis, has had 2 heart attacks and a blood clot in his leg plus pneumonia!Atticus hasn’t been well either he is 14 now.I can’t remember what has been wrong but think it’s to do with his age.Great to see the parade of the old champions Rough quest wasn’t there but is still alive and reaches 30 this year!Douvan up next Paul Townend up and it’s raining there now. Can’t see many finishers this year it will be a hard slog.Safe and sound always.Have a good day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXOLove your devotional today.
I would think your home is filled with these endearing photos. They are better than any professionaly posed picture could be. Thanks for shareing them will her fans. Thinking of her during the day and anticipating the new baby lifts my husbands and my spirits. She is perfect.
RIP King’s Palace pulled up in a hurdle race and has been euthanised.Winner of 7 of his 14 starts he was trained by David Pipe.Very sad news.Sheena
Superb win by Douvan under Paul Townend. He is a gentle giant and just now an awesome performance by World Hurdler Thistlecrack. If this horse goes chasing everyone look out!His speed is phenomenal. It’s been pouring at Aintree.Looks as if the GN will be a hard slog.Stay safe and sound all horses and jockeysxx
How about Yorkhill winning in the EZ Trader at Aintree after refusing to settle, jumping poorly, hanging left and idling. Mullins said that York did not look so good and was restless when he was saddling him. Not certain if he took a bite out of Willie, but the horse won despite almost everything going wrong. When asked, he ran away from the others. He’s a chestnut with the same sire as Moosie. They do it their way.
Paul had a nightmare of a ride but still won.He was very restless pre-race and just wouldn’t settle,Definitely has a touch of the Moosie’s about him.Sheena
Rule the World breaks his maiden by winning the Grand National!!David Mullins riding his first time in the race.An emotional win for trainer Mouse Morris. The best news is all horses are safe and sound lots of falls and tough going in the heavy crowd.Gigginstown are the owners who won the Gold Cup with Don Cossack.Sheena
Are you sure about Rule The World breaking his maiden at Aintree? I thought that Rule won his first race at Punchestown back in 2012. Maybe I’m missing something. Anyway, Mullins failed to take the National yet again but the Irish won anyway.
Saw a photo of Silvi with Paul Nicholls before the race. He’s a great looking horse.
Very glad all are safe.
Dear Max.Think it’s something “under rules”he had won some point-to-points I recall. I have heard he will be retired. He has fractured his pelvis twice already and recovered so is going out on a high! Some jockeys wait years before winning the National and a few of the best have never won yet young Davy goes and wins on his first ride. There were 16 finishers not 12 as first thought.Felt sorry for Silvi pulling up he looked magnificent before the race.Funny thing is “Rule the World” is my favourite Take That song.Sheena

That horse is truly amazing if he made a comeback from those injuries and won the Grand National. He deserves a long retirement. Gigginstown can make that happen.
I read that Mullins won the last race of the day with his nephew as jockey. Very good day for the Mullins family.
Even better that all horses came home safely.
Ann NC
Congrats to Rule the World, Mouse, David Mullins and connections. Wow, ride em David, 19 years old. Exciting day for him. Even better, knowing all came home safely.
Love watching your racing, Sheena. The sheep in the adjacent field at Sedgefield are a hoot.
Baby, baby, baby?

I saw those sheep too Ann! That was really a first and SO funny :-)
Thanks for the update and the adorable photos. So cute! Shes so precious. Thank you to Ann for giving her the scratch and love.
Hugs and prayers for a safe delivery.
Thanks for sharing all of these. Love the one of Ms. Moss’ and Zen’s heads together, such love shown there, and it looks as if they are sharing a secret. Praying for safe delivery. Not to nag—but Zen, girl, this is hard on an old woman!!!
Thank you for taking the time to up date us. You are all the most kind and wonderful people. and the photos are so wonderful too. They really capture how special this time is for all of you. Thank you for sharing and know that we have been thinking of Zenyatta every day. Come on Baby, we are all so looking forward to seeing you.
Why We Need Rest and Solitude {And What That Looks Like for Me}
by Kristen Welch
“Solitude and stillness create space for the spirit of God to speak.”
As soon as my pastor said the words, I started squirming.
I’m terrible at resting, being still, and seeking solitude. I like to go and do, rather than stay and be. I’m an expert multi-tasker, and I tend to overload my plate. Most days I rock my to-do list, but it’s totally the boss of me. I tend to run on less than half a tank, and I feel weary often.
Resting makes me restless.
Yet, something about my pastor’s words made me long for quiet and solitude. And I kept feeling pulled toward the small inner voice saying, “Come to me, you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
Because doers can only do so much.
My pastor went on to talk about Jesus’ need for solitude, so much so that He separated himself and spent time alone with His Father.
If the Son of Man needed to create this space, how much more do we?
I took a good long look at my life, and I couldn’t remember the last time I’d rested well, completely unplugged from the noise and got alone for hours — days — just me and Jesus. It’s time most of us can’t afford, but if I’m honest with myself, I know this is mostly an excuse. If I can squeeze in a girl’s weekend once a year, surely I can make time to be alone a couple of days with God.
By that point during the sermon, I was begging for a quiet corner to confess.
Why is it that we think we can give to others without first receiving what is freely given to us?
I thought of the unanswered email in my inbox — the one with an invitation to get away for a weekend of solitude and solace, for rest and renewal. I hadn’t deleted the email, but I also hadn’t made room for it in my busy life and schedule.
Instead of seeing this as the indecision I thought it was, I saw it as something much more frightening: pride.
When we are too self-assured with our own abilities, we are drawing from a limited resource.
When we are too busy to stop and rest, we are too busy.
Three Reasons We Need Rest and Solitude
1. God made rest a priority
He rested after He worked. Jesus sought solitude and so should we.
2. God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness
When we take time to rest and seek God, we are acknowledging that we need His help. We weren’t meant to carry the weight of the world, but we often don’t realize how badly we need rest until we take it.
3. Respite gives us the opportunity to hear God
More than anything, I want to hear God. But in order to lean in and listen close, I have to be still and quiet.
Before I made it to the car that Sunday afternoon, I answered that email and said, “Please, let me come and rest.” Honestly, three days alone on a solitude retreat intimidates me. But it also excites me. I can’t wait to create the space for God to renew and speak to my soul.
How are you resting? Do you carve out times of solitude to be alone with God?
