Happy Thursday!
Zenyatta and her Tapit colt have new paddock mates at Lane’s End. Alys snapped the first photo of the group, and we’ll post some more once the little ones get to know each other.
We have an video interview to share today. Dr. Holder, who was present at the April 1st foaling, met up with us at Lane’s End the following day to talk about Zenyatta. You’ll also see a sneak peak of our footage from the night of the foaling—there’s more of that to come along with our next round of video interviews!
Enjoy!

Morn Z & Zsters,
Reminder From God:
“Directly put your affairs and their difficulties in My Hands.
I will begin to effect a cure.”
Today, God’s message for you is:
Have you ever stopped to think about that little voice in your mind? The one that says, “I’m no good?” or, “I can’t do this.” How about, “With God’s strength, I know I can face up to this challenge?” The key to self talk is to turn it from something negative into something positive. You’re made in God’s image, capable to handle anything He has for you. Let that guide your self talk today.
may today be a good day for you all. :)
i hope queen Z got lots of peppermints & kisses for mothers day. <3

Wow! That is some van! Didn’t look like he was all that thrilled about getting on – HA! I wonder what it really feels like to the horse trying to stand there while the van is moving?
Vampressqueen Sue Colvin /NJ
i think it depends on the horse.
Most horses i shipped out w/ would stand still w/ no problem whatsoever, like it was no big deal.
i shipped out w/my horse Regiment once & he had a heck of a time staying on his feet. he was so uncoordinated- like watching a newborn foal trying to satnd.
he had trouble trying to balance himself. its was funny but i felt bad for him.
of course i cant say antyhing since my balance is awful now. lol
SharonAtlanta
That’s what I like so much about slant load trailers. It’s so much easier for the horse to balance when they’re not straight, head-to-toe over the trailer wheels and body. Slightly side-ways works so much better for them.
Sally B. (cherish Z- Wi.)
Vamp; I loved watching the video and then your reply. The horse must have to really trust the one leading him into a large van. I can not imagine a flight, take off, up in the air!! I do not even like the take off or the landing in an airplane! ha

Sue F and I set our sights on this, and just prior to us leaving, he pulled RA out, but we all went anyway to see Zenyatta. We all have our own personal views on who would have won, or at least I do!! Rachel is awesome too and I am happy that Mrs. Jackson loves this mare so much to think of having her bred again in light of almost losing her. At least it is out of the picture for quite a while. They have two beautiful foals from her, how sweet is that!!

Dear all, it is with great sorrow that I have just learned our incomparable horse rescue friend, Judy Glore, the founder and president of Happy Equine Acres Rescue & Therapy of Tucson (HEART of Tucson), has lost her courageous battle with cancer. She passed away on Mother’s Day morning. Here is a news video about her life and her passing. http://www.cancerfactorfiction.com/lung-cancer-facts/horse-lover-heart-of-tucson-founder-judy-glore-loses-battle-with-lung-cancer/

Sheena. Have you given any thought to the Lockinge later this week? Some think that Farrh or Cityscape will win. Cityscape lost last year to Wise Dan at Woodbine, but he can run. There’s a good filly in it, Beauty Parlour. She’s trained by Henry Cecil. Like John Shirreffs, Cecil can bring out the best racing in a filly.

Dear Anne from Paramount,
I hope you have a wonderful trip in Boone. I think our,Marshall directed you to some beautiful sights.
West Jefferson is a nice small town to visit and if you like a nice drive, the Pisgah Nat. Forest is fun. Enter it outside of Brevard and drive up the mountain. There are waterfalls where you can pull over and enjoy. Brevard also will have their White Squirrel Festival with great music. Enjoy the crafts, food, music and fun folks, everywhere you turn.
Glad the fridge door is fixed! Don’t be a stranger.

Yes, Ann, Brevard IS a great town! Beautiful setting, lovely people, and a very good college, too! White squirrels AND waterfalls — TOO wonderful!
West Jefferson might well be closer to Boone, though. The handpainted murals in the three churches in that locale are very special and quite well done. I love this part of our fair state!

@ Trina–Thank you so much for letting us know about Judy Glore in such a beautiful way. The image in my mind of her riding Dyna King in the heavenly fields brought many tears.May she havie happy reunions with all the ones she has loved and lost. Though I was never lucky enough to have known her,I felt that I did because of all we had learned about her in this wonderful place.
@ Sheena-Im so glad you enjoy Barnaby and Traceller’s adventures! Yesterday,he did the cutest thing. Sue had picked up two large bales of straw and a bale of sawdust a few days ago and Friday she made him a lovely bed in his shelter. He had lond ago selected as his the shelter that did not have a soft bed prepared,so we thought that maybe he liked the one that was plain dirt. She decided to make him one anyway to see if he liked it. Yesterday, she had gone out early to do the regular morning feeding. When I got back from church, she called and said she would like to go out and ride Barnaby to prepare fro the trip she is taking on Friday—more about that, following this. We went out to the pasture and Traveller was in her “house” looking out, but,Barnaby was nowhere to be seen. Sue said for me to quietly sneak up on him to see if he was asleep in his bed. When Traveller saw us coming at the unexpected hour, she trotted out of her shelter. After she had gone aways, and before I could sneak up on him,Barnaby came tearing out of his shelter and came up to the fence with straw sticking to his side and, with a long strand of it draped rakishly around his right ear and dangling over his eye!@! He looked just adorable!! We were thrilled to see that he does, indeed like his new soft bed!! He seemed to love the unexpected visit and the extra attention. He definitely had on his “happy face”!
Sue is leaving on Friday for a dream trip—8 days in England with the highlight being a five day ride through the Cotswolds!! Doesn’t that sound like heaven??? She and another lady from Texas, and their guide, will be riding from Manor House to Manor House each day, where they will be served lovely dinners in the evening, full breakfasts in the morning and then will stop for lunches at various pubs along the way. At one of the stately homes, the host is master of the local hunt! Can you imagine how wonderful that will be?? I am just thrilled for her!! The trip is through a company called Highpointe Tours, who offer equestrian adventures in many countries around the world. Being the devout Anglophile that I am,I have mostly looked at the ones in the British Isles and they all sound incredible!! You can get on their website (just Google Highpointe Tours and you can find it) and look at the various English ones and you’ll see the one that Sue is doing and will be able to see such a perfect description of what she will see that you can go along vicariously!!
Zenny Girl–hope you had a lovely Mother’s Day with Little Big Red–what a guy!! Love the new photo on the link. I really think he is going to go down in history!!! Maybe you will turn out nothing BUT Triple Crown winners!! It wouldn’t surprise me a bit!!!

Roberta
Thank-you so much Carol for the information on the nurse-mare. I’m so sorry it took so long to get back to you. I was spending a lot of time at another site (still checking in daily with the Z family of course) I had spent money to join it, and watch live-feeds of the horses I love. Unfortunately, most of the people there were different then at this site; when I made observations, or asked questions, my post either wasn’t read completely, or they put their own twist to it. There seemed to be four or five people, who were horse owners (which I’m not) and instead of teaching someone who wanted to learn, or be treated as one of them, I was constantly miss quoted, and given very unfriendly replies. Even once when I made a remark about Zenyatta (because I saw her picture as a profile picture) I was reminded that this was not a Zenyatta site here. I will say there was a very few that were nice, but the ones that talked the most, were very mean.
It was so refreshing, to come back here, and actually be able to feel the love, understanding, and the sharing of information on all horses; this site reflects the loving ways of Zenyatta, and the way people should be to each other. IT IS SO UPLIFTING HERE. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!!
A perfect example of this is the story about Dyna King/Gifted; this story shows the heart and courage of the thoroughbred. What a wonderful horse, and God bless the woman that saved him, and the farm. I’m sure she is in heaven, taking care of all the poor horses who have been abused and died. I cried watching the first video with a broken heart, but with the other two videos, they were tears of joy and admiration. Then there was the story of the “Eighty Dollar Champion”. YES, THIS IS THE BEST SITE FOR ANYONE WHO IS A HORSE LOVER, OR IS LONELY, OR IS SICK OF ALL THE HEARTACHE AND CRAZYNESS IN THE WORLD; COME TO ZENYATTA WORLD, WHERE THINGS ARE HOW THEY SHOULD BE. I’M SO HAPPY TO HAVE ZENYATTA, HER TEAM, AND MY FELLOW SITEMATES IN MY LIFE!!!!
