Happy Thursday!
Zenyatta and her Tapit colt have new paddock mates at Lane’s End. Alys snapped the first photo of the group, and we’ll post some more once the little ones get to know each other.
We have an video interview to share today. Dr. Holder, who was present at the April 1st foaling, met up with us at Lane’s End the following day to talk about Zenyatta. You’ll also see a sneak peak of our footage from the night of the foaling—there’s more of that to come along with our next round of video interviews!
Enjoy!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL OUR WONDERFUL, CARING, TALENTED MOMS !!!!!
And this means you too beautiful Zenny, on the wonderful job you are doing raising these two babies. They are sensational.
Arlene blessings to you for taking in your little Chalupa, I’m sure she has paid you back many times. I hope you have more time together before you have to make that decision, but rest assured she will be forever grateful. I think there must be a special place in heaven for us animal stewards as these are Gods creatures too.
Anne from Paramount, loved reading your humorous post, although, I know it must have been frustrating. I hope you have rectified the situation and now have a working fridge.
Pat, enjoyed reading about Katies tough little filly, just goes to show you some of those small horses can be tough as nails.
Hope everyone has a great Mothers Day and Anne gets to see her beautiful girl today. Kisses on noses for Zenny and her two beautiful guys. Auntie Sue

Happy Mother’s Day, Sue! PS–that was Hoosier Darlene Daniels in Kokomo, IN, not so far from you, who took in Chalupa, and not fellow dog lover Arlene in Vermont.

The Breeder’s Cup at Santa Anita Park has a video on their Grandstand Reserved Box Seats page, of the 2009 BC, that I had never seen, it is fun. Almost 4-1/2 min., it is mostly “fluff” until 2:22 min., then about Zenyatta all the rest of the way, including quotes from some who didn’t believe in her. Here it is, from youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4yfU1XdmU4&feature=player_embedded

Vicki B. Great find. Z sure proved those negative types wrong. Magnificent.

Great video. Our girl sure proved them all wrong. She ran her race, her way. I still get chills watching this one.

Vicki-I remember that day as if it were yesterday. I was in a race and sports book in Las Vegas for that race and I have never heard noise like that before or since. A lot of people there had also said she couldn’t win and they were applauding as they tore up their tickets. Will always be the greatest race in the history of the Breeder’s cup.
Max
TC. Great post. There were some very talented horses in that 2009 race, but they were no match for the Queen.
I recall as well her 2010 BCC in vivid detail. She was more than fabulous in that race. It showed that winning does not always mean coming in 1st. That 2010 BCC belonged to Z.
LeslieA
Couldn’t agree more, Max. That was definitely her finest race. When do you see a horse come from dead last to outrun 11 others and almost win. Blame who?
Caroline Blevins
Happy Mother’s Day to the Queen..and I have to say 13Z has an amazing Butt!! wow..and his colors shimmers, he is simply gorgeous..I am gobsmacked with this youngster! Well done …

Happy Mothers Day to Zenyatta and the other mothers on here. I’ll be calling my Mom later, since I know she’s at church right now. I would love to be spending the day with her but, she’s in Idaho and, I’m in Calif. Anyways, my Partner surprised me with a dozen roses since I’m a Mom to three kitties. To cute!

Sheena. Thought that you might like this photo of Mad Moose from one of his owners’ Twitter account. Mad is a handsome chestnut. He’s got an independent look, which perhaps gave rise to his name.

Dear Max, Sheena and Z Fans:
Visited the farm today. Charlie and HT ran so hard and happily yesterday that they each threw a shoe. Farrier is coming tomorrow.
Angela hand fed little Captain his first taste of grain this afternoon. He loved it. He’s a month old today.
All the horses enjoyed a beautiful, lazy day; gorgeous weather. Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. Charlie must indeed be gorgeous too. Moose was a successful jumper until he refused to run twice this year, once was a refusal in the Grand National at Aintree. He just dug his hooves in and stood there while the other horses raced away. They switched him to the flat and he has already had a first and a near second. He must have an extraordinary trainer who is able and has the patience to handle this. These results are in graded stakes races so that the competition is pretty strong. Sheena pointed Mad Moose out to me. I love this horse. He reminds me of Big D. No one tells Mad what to do.

Thanks for the photo, Max. Mad Moose is gorgeous and yes, Judy B. he and PC resemble each other. Both know how special they are!!!
MM digging in is really a story for the ages. Glad he is now loving the turf.
Max
Ann NC. Mad Moose spoke to his trainer with his hooves. He had had it with fences. Wild thing is that he won the first time out against 3 year olds. He’s 9 and had never been in a gate before that first race, although they had schooled him at home. Mad’s a quick learner. He might just make it to Ascot.

Dear Sheena
Yes, we do have to stick together. I hope you had a very nice birthday.
And yes too our boy Orfevre’s birthday is tuedsay Just love this boy. We get to see him next month. I believe Royal Ascot is the same week Orfevre races. Just think all we get to see that week. None of us will get any sleep that week. Animal Kingdom and Johnny V too. LOL, Peggy

Happy Mother’s Day to all my fellow Dumplings and, of course, to Queen Z. I hope everyone had a fabulous day!
@Darlene Daniels – I saw your post about Chupy. It’s never easy to watch a beloved fur baby’s health declining. I’ve been through it, as I’m sure most of us have, and it never gets easier. I’m sending hugs and prayers your way, dear friend.
@Sue – I’m so sorry your mom is having to go through chemo. You and your mom are in my thoughts and prayers.
@Anne in Paramount – I’ve never heard of a refrigerator door falling off! That’s too funny. (Although I’m sure you weren’t laughing too much at the time!) It had to be bad if duct tape didn’t even work! LOL

Hope everyone enjoyed their Mothers Day. My sons actually grilled here today, I had absolutely nothing to do!! And… someone actually LISTENED to a suggestion of mine! A few months ago I sent an email and asked the people over at Secretariat.com to make a 2014 calendar, AND THEY DID!!! I’m SO excited about this, I’ve already ordered one.
Now the Zenyatta people should make a calendar for the Queen, too! :) :)

To all my Z nation family, calling on all mothers, here is hoping that the day was Blessed , full of Joy and Restful, which is more than I can say for mine because the Church decided to schedule the kids first Holy Communion on the same day as mothers day. So, where was the sleep in with breakfast, lunch and dinner in bed?.
The day started off with getting up early to prepare breakfast then get the of age kids ready for their big day at church and making sure the rest of the supporting cast got ready so nobody is late getting to church for this Awesome day. Managed to pull that off and then after the ceremony, which was lovely by the way, it was photo ups time which went on forever, and with the sun refusing to be out done by the flash bulbs of the camera’s, it was a scorching day from hell!, and please don’t ask me how the pictures turned out, tops of heads cut out, blackened indiscernible faces , it was a riot. Frustrated and with my shoes hurting my feet, of cause, I had to wear my new unbroken into leather high heel shoes, and I mean high heels, I stood there almost in tears hoping that someone more sensible had the good mind to bring along a professional camera man!. So I ask you, whose day was it?, the kids, or the mother’s. Am just asking, because, the way I see it, the day had to belong to just one group, mother’s or the kids.
Enough of my whining though, because the kids had fun and my little boy said afterwards, ‘waoh, I cannot believe I have a part of Jesus in me now’. That, right there, made up for all my hurt feet and my mothers day that I thought had gone up in smoke, but as it turned out, it was the bestest mothers day yet.!!!!.
Now to the Queen of Z nation, how was your mothers day, did Prince CoZmic One come by or did he send flowers and peppermints instead?. The little tyke am sure gave you lots and lots of Hugs.
It is 2 am, need to go to bed. Here is wishing everyone sweet dreams and a week full of wonderful Blessings. It is well.

Dear Zenny,
I got distracted by another project yesterday, and then we had yet another hail storm which caused some electrical problems so I’m extending Mother’s Day to today. I don’t miss the chance to wish you continued happiness as you thrive in your Mom role. Your boys are precious and you look gorgeous! I’m sure that you’re loving every minute of it. I hope you got to spend a nice day with YOUR Mom, Ann, as well as the little red prince – lots of pets and treats and everything you love.
Happy Mother’s Day (belated) to all Z Dumplings. You have my utmost admiration.
