Happy Thursday!

Zenyatta and her Tapit colt have new paddock mates at Lane’s End. Alys snapped the first photo of the group, and we’ll post some more once the little ones get to know each other.

We have an video interview to share today. Dr. Holder, who was present at the April 1st foaling, met up with us at Lane’s End the following day to talk about Zenyatta. You’ll also see a sneak peak of our footage from the night of the foaling—there’s more of that to come along with our next round of video interviews!

    Lukas names Preakness jockeys

    Trainer D. Wayne Lukas has put together a formidable team of jockeys to ride his three starters in the 138th Preakness Stakes May 18.
    Lukas said Gary Stevens will remain aboard Oxbow, who finished sixth in the Kentucky Derby; Mike Smith will ride Will Take Charge, who finished a troubled eighth in the Derby, getting stopped cold in the upper stretch after moving stride for stride with the victorious Orb; and Julien Leparoux will ride Titletown Five, who is coming off a fourth-place finish in the Derby Trial Stakes.

        JudyB. Read that Kauto was acting like a 3 year old during his last parade at Sandown. His tweets are well loved world wide. Even Napoleon’s war house has a twitter account. He sometimes carries on a battle with the Duke of Wellington’s horse. Twitter is a lot of fun.

      I know how dumb this is going to sound but are there two horses being referenced here (KingKautoV and Kauto Star) or is it all the same horse? In any case, the one in the picture is gorgeous :-)

        Sandy. Kauto calls himself King Kauto V for his 5 wins in the King George. He also calls himself, the Living Legend. Neigh!

        • Aaaah! Thanks Max. I’ve read the posts about him with interest but never put this together. He sounds like a fun horse to follow, and I believe that he’s into jumping now?

        • Sandy. Kauto has retired from jumping with 16 grade 1 wins, which ties him with the great John Henry and Hurricane Fly, and has begun his new career as a dressage horse with Laura Collet. He’s also started his own Twitter account to keep in touch with his fans world wide. Our Pati mentioned that he followed her on Twitter last week. I’m impressed.

    Hello to all Z’sters:
    Thank you Dr. Holder and Team Zenyatta for the interview. We also think Zenyatta is perfect and special in everyway! My has 13Z grown. I can’t get over how much he has grown. He looks so little in the stall with Zenny.

    Zenny, you gave us 2 beautiful colts. I am so looking forward to the day when Coz has his first race. No matter how he performs all of us will think he is absolutely magnificent!

    dear max don’t think we have a horse for the triple crown this year of course dawn approach will go for the derby but doubt they’ll try him over the longer st leger distance a lovely daughter of galileo has just won the oaks trial she’s called secret gesture the weather isn’t good at ascot or lingfield heavy showers and frankel’s jockey tom queally had a winner kauto is a bit of a naughty boy where the ladies are concerned remember tilly le ginge?? hugs sheena

      Sheena. Just checked Secret Gesture’s pedigree, another Sadler’s Wells, Danehill cross. Will watch for her. Forgot about Tilly. Kauto seems to admire the foreign fillies. I heard that the weather was rainy in the UK. Queen Elizabeth had her umbrella at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

    These AP tests are going to be the death of me. I just took my 3rd yesterday and I am taking my last one Tuesday. We have to shuttle to another school to take it (don’t understand why) and I’m missing classes because of them. Now I’m six or seven assignments behind everyone in almost all my classes. Life is hectic.

    I’m so happy that Z and Baby have new friends to have fun with! Baby looks great, as always, and I think he’ll be a looker regardless of what color he will be. It will just require more cleaning if he does go grey, but if he like mud, color won’t matter there. Everyone is a universal color there.

    Max; I’m from New Brunswick. My in-laws were from Danville-Asbestos, Que. Loved the Eastern Townships, but, couldn’t live there as there is no ocean. I couldn’t live away from the East Coast. Can’t take the Maritimer out of me!

      Rather than go back a page, I’ll answer here. I should have just said that my dad came here from Scotland and I still have lots of relatives in both England and Scotland (very hard when half of your family is not really accessible – especially when they are some of your favorites!!).

She was also so respectful of the Moss’s as the interviewer sure tried to get the next stallions name out of Dottie’s mouth of whom Z may be breed to next!!!!! loved it

        Thanks Keta for posting Ann Maree’s great find and what a find indeed!

        Just loved the part where Dottie knows she has to hold back on revealing who Zenyatta has been bred to. The vibe I got was that it’s not Bernie or Tapit, but a new stallion. Could it be Malibu Moon? Time will tell.

      Loved the interview. So happy that Rachel is doing well and no plans for breeding are in the near future. Barbara just wants her to be well. Dottie was wonderful and gracious in declining to add anything about Zenyatta’s next date.

      Thanks, Keta, I had not seen this yet! Nice to hear Barbara Banke recount what happened recently with Rachel, and her recovery progress. And Dottie talking about the naming of Coz, but carefully not letting any cat out of the bag about what’s up next for Zenyatta.
