Happy Thursday!
Zenyatta and her Tapit colt have new paddock mates at Lane’s End. Alys snapped the first photo of the group, and we’ll post some more once the little ones get to know each other.
We have an video interview to share today. Dr. Holder, who was present at the April 1st foaling, met up with us at Lane’s End the following day to talk about Zenyatta. You’ll also see a sneak peak of our footage from the night of the foaling—there’s more of that to come along with our next round of video interviews!
Enjoy!

Hi everyone: I was planning on putting this on the last post, went to the site and to my delight, a new article!!!! Anyway, this was put on Facebook this morning by Lanes End. WONDERFUL story about WONDERFUL A.P. Indy!
Enjoy!

LeslieA ; What a superb article on A.P. Indy!! Let the truth be known! I am so proud of him.
Happy to have the chance to have my picture with him at Lanes End. Mr Halley allowed this. (My friend and I both snuck a tip into his hands) Indy was quite gentle only a bit impatient; but he was in and out standing for many visitors for 3-4 hours. I love his eyes and he is still one handsome stallion. I wish I could go back to Lanes End. Of course to see Zenyatta as well! Indy was one of the most popular stallions people visited while we were there.
Thank you so much,
Sally B.

LeslieA,
Thanks for posting, I did see this article on another blog and really enjoyed his viewpoint. I, however, did take the chance of touching him, I kissed him on the nose, and hugged that massive big neck, and he was a perfect gentleman. Here is a picture of my “main man, hope this posts. hugs https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=101222043305348&set=a.101222039972015.1793.101221999972019&type=1&comment_id=1202119&offset=0&total_comments=3

Leslie, thank you for sharing this great article about A.P. Indy. I too have visited him at Lane’s End. He is amazing. I had to give him some pats and loving as well. It is remarkable how he has marked his offspring. I have seen Pulpit, Malibu Moon, Bernardini and Tapit up close and in person and the look of A.P. in them is unmistakable!

Thanks for posting Leslie. Super article! What a great update on a great horse.
Karla
Love that Tapit colt! He is magnificent. Is Z wearing front shoes? Why?
zenyen
She’s been wearing front shoes for about a year now.
Probably just more comfortable for her.
ShannonM
Karla,
She wears front shoes to keep her front hooves from splitting under the increase weight of her pregnancies !!! Really great idea !!!

thanks for your good care

Thank you for sharing your insight! Yes, from personal experience Zenyatta is a “Perfect Lady”!! So loving and kind :-) We’ve known for a very long time that she has been able to do things “the right way” – more reasons than ONE!
I doesn’t surprise me that she became a Loving Mother either! Her Mother’s Day card is in the mail – I hope she likes it (wink wink)
♥ All my love, Zenny, “Little Big Red”, and CoZmic One XO

Dear Shannon,
Thank you so much for sharing this link. It was so wonderful to hear our Dottie’s sweet voice, so enthusiastic, talking about Zenny it brought a tear. I am also so very glad that Rachael Alexandra is doing well after her illness. Both of these mares have given a great deal of joy to all of us!!!

Thank you Mr. & Mrs. Moss, Team Zenyatta, and Team Lane’s End for keeping us involved with our Queen and her sons.
All I can say about Z13 is that HE LOOKS MAGNIFICENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look at him standing there: already has the pose down…just bring on the red roses!!
Our Queen looks very regal, healthy, and happy.
Will await photos from Alys of the paddock mates. Thank you for these, Alys. Will have to wait until evening to see the video.
High hooves to everyone in celebration of healthy, happy horses who are truly loved!!!
Love,
Mary in Boone
Angie Martin
Alys, thank you for the beautiful pics of Zenny and Z13. What a dandy of a colt he is!
Is Zenyatta going to be bred and who will the luck stallion be?
Sarah Powell, Clemson, SC
Pictures and video just made my day! “Little Big Red” is just awesome but what else can be expected!! Like everyone else, I am so grateful that we are still included in the happenings around Z – hope that doesn’t ever change. Looking forward to more video – love to see those little long legs in action!
Perky Green
Thank so much for the photos and video. We all are so aware just how Special our Z is and she has produced 2 beautiful colts. They all look the picture of strength and health, and of course BEAUTIFUL.
Liz Coglianese
Thank you yet AGAIN LE for keeping us in touch with what is going on with the Queen! Everyone in the racing world should take note of how LE and Z’s connections have treated the fans – I think racing would be the better for it. And it doesn’t surprise me a bit how Dr. Holder describes working with Zenyatta. As John Sherriffs has said before, she is a highly intelligent, intuitive mare. She seems to know exactly what is going on around her at all times. She is truly a once in a lifetime horse and no matter who comes in contact with her, from her fans to her owners to her handlers to her riders – all come away with the same feeling of having been in the presence of something truly special. How lucky are we all to be blessed with such a marvelous gift from God? Because that is exactly what she is!

You are exactly right, Liz!!

OMGoodness, Willie, you are perfect. My Queen Zenyatta, loving and missing you always. Watch your videos, raciing was breathing to you. I miss you so much, thank our family at Lane’s End for posting pictures of you and your family, thank you human Mama and Papa for being the best and most generous of all parents for sharing so much. I was hoping, well kinda, that when Mikey visited you that he would just hop on you and ride you over CD…just for fun. I love you, waiting news on Cozzy, when will he being going away to ‘college”.???
Will check in later, love you, love you, love you….Lisag

Fantastic video and footage of Zenyatta and her foal……almost a 124,000 Facebook Fans!!!

Is Zenyatta being re-bred? To who??
Hannah
Wow, loving the new photos! Z13 is so stinkin’ cute. With his coloring and blaze, he reminds me of Rags to Riches (as well as her first foal). :-P Thanks for the update Team Z!

@ Sandy in NE OH- So glad you were able to see the article and photo–I think this her first real review and it’s fun that it was a good one!! He wrote a lot about how good the whole production is–two pages, yet! So hope a Zster or two might be able to go see it. Wish I could go back this weekend myself. But,I had a WONDERFUL time last weekend–I told my daughter, that was MY Mother’s Day!!
Hope everyone here has a great day today–so far it’s sunny here, but they say we may have thundershowers this afternoon.
Last night, when I went down to feed the horses,Barnaby stood back and didn’t try to steal hay off of the wheelbarrow—he’s a fast learner!!
Suzanne
Zenyatta is gorgeous, as always, and her Tapit colt is too! I have always been partial to chestnuts. I think that comes from following Secretariat’s racing career and his life after racing. They look so happy and healthy and peaceful in their new paddock with other horses for company. All horses should have lives like this.
Regarding Zenny’s Bernardini colt – how is he doing and when will he receive his long-anticipated name?
It is so nice that people continue to issue updates and photos on Zenyatta. She will always be a favorite of race fans and it is nice to know how she is doing.

Hi,
He has been named after the universe….CoZmic One
Mary Margaret in Georgia
Love to see our Queen & Z13 looking beautiful as ever.
Hope everyone has a Blessed Mother’s Day.
Congrats to Magna Fortuna and his wonderful mom Silver Option, great 3-part story. No telling how many unfortunate souls fall through the cracks. Our guardian angels are so very busy. I wish I had so much money I didn’t know what to do with it, alas, I would buy farms in every state and save these beautiful discarded creatures. One can dream.
Sweet dreams Zenyatta, Z13, Cozmic One, and all your pastures buds.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
I do too, Mary Margaret. Roughly 100,000 per year. Three quarters of them are non-Thoroughbreds. It is a tragedy for all.
Sue Noel/Sun Valley,ID
LOVE the new photos!! Little Big Red DOES know about the camera already!! He is just amazing!! Can’t wait to see the video–I hope I can get my home computer monitor working tonight or tomorrow so I can see the video! Red must be having fun with a playmate–he must be loving all the new discoveries he is making!!
Jo
Very nice! Thank you so much for the update. Z and Prince Z13 look wonderful. Loved the comments from the vet – nice interview by Ann Moss!

Maybe he will stay red. Beautiful pictures.
Lisag In Texas
I am so afraid he won’t. I love Grey’s and was hoping he would be a grey…but seeing the little Red Headed Stranger for the very first time….I thinking, o, please stay red, please. Did some research and found a Flea Bitten colt, he way grey with red spots on him…he was beautiful, but to me, they are all beautiful…just some steal my heart. Lisag

What a pleasant surprise! A wonderful interview with Dr Holder who was lucky enough to tend to our queen. She was as majestic as always and he just couldn’t help but be awed by her majesty!! Just like we are!! He’s so lucky!
The red prince looks wonderful and momma Z always beautiful AND there’s more to come. How fun!!!! Makes me so happy.
Aren’t we Zsters the luckiest people to be included in her life by Ann and Jerry and Lane’s End?! We sure are!
Love to all

Yes we are the luckiest ever.
Janie (in L.A.)
What a lovely interview about our sweet Zenyatta. “Every little thing she does is magic…” and it’s because of the care and love she’s been surrounded with ever since the Mosses and John and Dottie came into her life. She’s so well-adjusted and happy because of her “upbringing” with them and Lane’s End continues to care for her and her babies so wonderfully – she effortlessly segued from her racing career to motherhood because of all of them combined. Thank you all for sharing her with us!
Marty
Awww! The little ones are so adorable. As always Zenny looks great!
