Happy Friday!
For nearly three weeks now, Cozmic One has been able to call John Shirreffs’ barn at Belmont home. He’s settling into a relaxed training schedule, where he is permitted to learn and grow at his own pace.
We welcomed him off the truck from Ocala, FL at the end of March and met up with John and the crew at Barn 41 again yesterday. We hope you can share in our experience through the photos and videos below.
Enjoy!
-Team Z
THE ARRIVAL: MAY 25, 2014
TRAINING: JUNE 12, 2014
Shirreffs has been documenting the process with his helmet cam, just as he did with Zenyatta. Below is one of his videos.

Thanks so much to Team Z. It is so wonderful to be able to follow Coz from birth to the training track in Florida, and now to John’s racing barn. To follow in his training is a wonderful experience. Thanks again so much. Coz is so handsome, he just keeps getting better and better.
Kathy

Coz is looking good. Loved watching the videos.
The photos are greats too.
Will be looking forward to future videos and updates
on this big boy. So funny to go back in the blogs when
he was born, as a yearling and now a gorgeous 2 yr. old.
Wishing him safe training and a successful racing career,
Ann Maree / Tennessee
He does move nicely!!! Thanks so much. What a wonderful experience! Appreciate your sharing these with us. Also, thanks to John. I know he loves having Coz in his barn, but it has to be a heavy burden, also. I am reminding myself that Coz is who he is and he’s not his momma or poppa. If he turns out to have some racing ability, how wonderful and it’s a bonus. It’s just such a total thrill to have come this far with Zenyatta, and to watch her babies as they learn to be racehorses. Thanks again.
Kendra
Thanks so much for sharing. He is a awesome looking horse. I can’t wait to see him race.

We’re in love! Coz is every inch the son or the great Zenyatta! We cannot thank the Mosses enough for sharing Zenny and her family with us. Remember the night he was born? My goodness, how far he has come…he is magnificient like his mother.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sue and Tony:
Love your post. COZ is everything we expected he would be, and more. I remember the joy on this Blog the night he was born very well. All of Z’s babies are and will be equally loved, but that night was so special because he is the first born Prince. Safe and sound always. Love and Hugs, JB

Thank you Team Z for sharing these wonderful videos and photos with the fans.
I’m so inspired by the same attention to detail, love, care and concern for the athlete the John’s team shows Coz and the others. We look forward to more of his development towards a competent racehorse in the weeks and months ahead.
Bless you all!

Be still my heart! The videos and pictures are awesome. It’s so good knowing our beloved Coz is at John’s barn learning how to be a racehorse! Our journey into the lives of Zenny and her offspring continues and for that I am eternally grateful.
Annn Ferguson
He’s gorgeous! Is that Mario in one of the photos? Zenyatta’s groom?
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Annn Ferguson:
I believe the groom with COZ is Frank Leal. Love and Hugs, JB
Bev Winters
COZ looks really good and has grown so much. Thoroughly enjoyed these updates. Thank you. Wishing him good training.

Queen Z really shows up in Coz, and of course, his handsome sire Bernadini.
Thanks for all the updates, I am guessing the powers that be are thinking of something in the fall or early next year for Coz. He looks like he has been started the ideal way and has owners that will let him tell them when he is ready to race.
Linda Fabiszak
What can be said that hasn’t been said? He’s a handsome colt. Finally I got a feel for the hugeness of Belmont park, and I think that was only the training track. Thank you so much for sharing the stages in Coz’s training and development. He’s very workmanlike.. so well started. Can’t wait for more.

Dear Judy
Yes that was Hachiko the Akita. I had forgotten it was 10 years he came back and waited at that train station. Just loved reading that again. I’m crying again. Can you imagine the feelings that dog must have had. Oh my goodness that just hurts my heart. But, I feel like they are united together again now. What love and devotion.
After I first saw that story I thought I would love to have an Akita. Still would like to have one. I have heard some say (Don’t know if its true) that they can show some aggresive issues,(guess that’s what you would call it) if their owner is threatened.
Hachiko looking for his owner for l0 years just tells me volumns about what God gives us.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Peggy:
The owner of the grooming shop where I take Lola Mae has a black pug and an Akita; very beautiful dog. Love and Hugs, JB
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Yes, they are absolutely beautiful. Give Lola Mae a hug for me.. She is just beautiful too.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Peggy:
Thanks. I will. Love and Hugs, JB

Has something changed in the website? Until recently I have been able to
print both photos as well as the info presented in the blogs. I also have, from very beginning of the Zenyatta Diaries/this website have been copying both onto my ‘scrapbook’ I maintain on my laptop of ‘all things Zenyatta’. Now all I can print or copy is just from the Forum, not this blog. I now have hundreds of pages/photos saved on my laptop that will be a permanent Zenyatta capsule. It is
very frustrating to not be able to continue my Zenyatta compilation (I began with her first race…….gleaned from all the horse racing media — DRF, Thoroughbred Times, Blood Horse, TDN, Equidaily, Paulick Report, etc.)
Karen
How wonderful! Not just for Coz, but also for John. How many horses does he get to train that he met when they were babies? And not only that, but he trained his mama and aunt. If Coz runs to his looks, hope the barn is ready!
PatB from NM
Great to see this gorgeous boy! Can’t wait to watch as he develops; Z was already her magnificent self when I met her.
Love you always, Z and love always to your beautiful brood.
Donna H
It looks like Coz and John are bonding in the photo of them nose to nose. What a joy! He has a precious face like Zenyatta. Wouldn’t she be so proud?! Love to all and all the best each step of the way.
Cathy
WOW!!! What a handsome young man Coz’ has become. I can see his Momma in so many of his photos and videos. He will be carrying the torch for all of Team Z and her loved ones♥ Many thanks to the photographers for the videos and inspiring photos. Thanks so much to John for his special gift with these young ones. John is so patient with them allowing them to grow into their bodies……….physically and mentally before asking them to step up to the next level. I especially want to thank the Mosses for giving us this access …..so up close and personal………to their lives and the lives of Team Z. I just love the look on Coz’ face, lol! So much like Z. She knew she was special and Coz does too♥Thank you all for the updates. We love them♥
KathyR
Many thanks to Mr and Mrs Moss, Mr Shirreffs and Team Z for providing these terrific videos. And he is just the most magnificent fellow (not surprising given his Mum) but I also think it shows just what can be accomplished when young impressionable horses are raised with nothing but love and care. Looking forward to seeing more. Hugs KathyR

Thank you so much for sharing MS Z’s babies with us. It’s so interesting to watch and learn and see how their training is started and how it progresses. I have never had so much love as I do for Zenyatta; I hope her young ones progress safely and develop their racing talent.
