Happy Friday!
For nearly three weeks now, Cozmic One has been able to call John Shirreffs’ barn at Belmont home. He’s settling into a relaxed training schedule, where he is permitted to learn and grow at his own pace.
We welcomed him off the truck from Ocala, FL at the end of March and met up with John and the crew at Barn 41 again yesterday. We hope you can share in our experience through the photos and videos below.
Enjoy!
-Team Z
THE ARRIVAL: MAY 25, 2014
TRAINING: JUNE 12, 2014
Shirreffs has been documenting the process with his helmet cam, just as he did with Zenyatta. Below is one of his videos.

All I can say is WOW!!!! Boy do I like this horse. He is something special. Regardless of our wonderful Zenny being his momma, this guy is awesome on his own. Love John working with him and such wonderful committed owners!!! Good luck Cosmic One on everything you do!!!
Christine Holland
Thanks so much for keeping us up to date. Coz is majestic! He’s all legs!
So glad he is in John’s compassionate hands.

These photos and videos are simply wonderful! I’ve already watched them several times. Our Coz is a treat to look at…he seems so alert and interested, yet calm. Very much like the Queen. But when he gets into stride — simply beautiful motion. I don’t know enough about conformation to know why he moves so well, but it is clear that his motion is so smooth, he seems to float. Cannot wait to see him pick up the pace…
It’s KIZMET (nice name for a Zennie baby, don’t you think?) to see him with John, Jerry and Dottie admiring him..
I’m in love again.
Best to all

What a blessing to watch Coz training in NY and me in Nevada. I’m too old to travel anymore and will never get to see these BEAUTIFUL horses in person. But because of you Team Z and the kindness of the Mosses, those of us who love Zenyatta and her babies can share them vicariously. Thank you again and again. How I would love to put my arms around Z, Coz, Zi, and baby Zprincess, press my cheek against your warm strong necks, and give each of you hugs. I can imagine the joy I would feel.

Sure all grown up and looking wonderful….thanks for the videos and pictures.

Dear Team Z, Lane’s End, Mayberrys, Kyle and Z Fans:
Oh my God, this is even more than we hoped for. A precise look at JS’s training methods for COZ and so many glorious photos and videos. COZ is more splendid each time I see a new photo of him. He’s still all legs and has a lot of growing to do. I absolutely love the way he moves. Thank you Mr. & Mrs. M., JS and Kyle for giving us this unique opportunity to follow COZ in his training. God Bless him always. Love and Hugs, JB

I would like to thank the Mosses, Z’s team and Cozmic One’s team for sharing the Wonderful Pictures and 3 videos. I was thrilled, surprised and very happy to see every picture and video. This was Great – kind of like being there- kind of like watching small documentary. Either way I am going to be keeping my eye on Coz, he is in the very best hands now with John at his barn at Belmont. John is a very sincere man and he is a true horseman. So I am looking forward to seeing Coz’s story unfold and John won’t send him out until he is ready and I don’t think the Mosses would either.
Thank You for all this – you have made me very happy and given me something to look forward to.
Kind Regards
Deb

I ‘am so pleased with this guy. He knows what is going on around him and he is indeed special. I noticed in the first video the closer he got to the training track the more excited he got, you could see it in his foot work. Yes he will be very much like his MOM. I’am just thrilled by him the Zenny’s charm and personality will be alive and well in this baby. Stay strong healthy and sound baby Coz can’t wait to see you in the flesh on the track.

Dear Judy.So lovely to find all these pics and videos of Coz!Isn’t he gorgeous!
Yes,Glesni was on the nest when chick#2 hatched, there have been concerns the bigger chick#1 is getting more fish but the DOP aren’t worried I have seen him fed by his mum after all she did raise 2 healthy girls last year.Nerissa had put a photo of K-9 Danny up on his FB this week .So tragic.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Little Cap Hercules and all the Sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

Dear Sheena:
Yes, Coz just gets more fabulous looking all the time. Glad the second chick has been fed and I’m sure Glesni will continue to take good care. Hoping both of them thrive. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc and all the Sweeties

Dear Judy
Had to say something that K-9 Danny reminded me of. Animals in general to me are just gifts from God. Horses, Dogs Cats all of them. True Story, Can’t remember the breed of the Dog.. I believe there is a statue of the Dog in China and his master. This man went to work everyday by train and his dog went faithfully with him to the train station everyday. Well, the man died but the dog continued to go to the train station everyday day until he died. Unending Love for sure.
Saw the story about this on Animal Planet.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Peggy:
Here’s the story you referenced. The dog’s name was Hachiko. What a story of love and bonding between a man and his dog. People that don’t have animals in their lives, don’t know what they’re missing. Dogs, horses, cats; whatever, they are some of God’s greatest creations. Love and Hugs, JB

Thanks for that link, Judy, I had never seen it. But the long memory of the dog, every day for 10 years, and that Shibuya train station erected a statue of the dog too, got to me.

I know; same here. Love and Hugs, JB

Thank you, thank you for this special treat team Z!!! I love you all!
Coz just looks so amazing; but then he looks like mama and poses like mama!!
Coz was so well mannered from the arrival, through going into his new stall area, to bathing. He has Z’s personality too!! I hope he starts dancing like her as well! Wouldn’t that be something. I love the picture of Coz and John S. looking at one another.
For some reason the training rider looked so much bigger than one that would ride otherwise ride. Is that just my eyes?
You have made my Friday evening spectacular.

Coz seems very comfortable and relaxed at the stable and on the track. He’s got momma’s beautiful dapples!
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Nothing I could say would truly express my joy at seeing these videos and photos. Coz is gorgeous. I know nothing about horse conformation or training – I’ll leave it to the experts to comment on those aspects. It was wonderful to see John and Dottie and Jerry M there with him. Can’t wait for the next installment. THANK YOU to everyone involved in providing the photos and creating this post.

Dear Z Fans:
A Z’ster, Allie from Texas, mentioned this video on Page 1 of this Blog. It’s JS talking about COZ. Enjoy. Love and Hugs, JB

That was so fun to see. Thanks so much for sharing; I loved it so much. Hard to believe we all watched that baby from his time of birth until now. What an interesting story we have going. This is fascinating and he is so gorgeous and such a good boy! I am going back and watch it all again now. It must be surreal to John after training Zenyatta………………..to now be training her colt. I think we all feel like part of the family with this one!
Faithful Z supporter
I was still at work when I sneaked a peek here and suddenly became so very emotional looking at Coz. His walk, his size and face and the way he likes to just stop and observe his surroundings is all Z. Surely brings back images of the good old days. Love him. All in the family once again. So happy for all the connections. Understand John’s needing to keep expectations in check for now.
