Happy Monday!
Zenyatta, 13Z and Cozmic One were visited by Jerry and Dottie this weekend. It was a particularly special visit because they were there to see Coz off as he departed Lane’s End for Mayberry Farm in Florida. At Mayberry he’ll follow in his mom’s footsteps and focus on his new routine—learning to be a racehorse. Alys captured video of his departure for the fans.
The team spent time with Zenyatta, who is looking great and in foal to War Front. They also said hi to 13Z, who’s having a blast this fall with his buddies.
We’d like to thank Lane’s End for all of the time, enery, and love that they have put into Coz. For that, we are very grateful.
Enjoy!

Stumbling to Victory (Lady Paradime)
HRTV Replay & Interview Thursday, Oct 03 2013
Kelly Breen joins Race Day to talk about Lady Paradime, who stumbled badly
out of the gate in the 1st at Delaware Park, only to come back
from 16 lengths behind and win the race

Janet Newman
Wow! I am stunned that Angel Serpa stayed on and that she made up the ground and won. He said she came out of the race just fine, but I hope nothing comes up.
Kind of reminded me of Jeremy Rose when he stayed on Afleet Alex in the Preakness.
Kudos to both horse and rider.
Going to remember that name,
pam homeier
I think when Jerry and Dottie were checking on Red they were really working on a name for him!
Especially Horses / So Cal
I think they probably already have the name in mind.
pam homeier
Probably right!

Dear Terry
Thank You so much for the answer to my question about the sale. I am pretty sure that’s right too.
Terry Crow
You are welcome. I always try to answer questions whenever I can.

Went looking at the Fasig-Tipton November 4, 2013 sales catalogue
Interesting Ones that caught my eye;
Hip 73 In Lingerie in foal to Frankel
Hip 80 Joyful Victory R/BMP (Racing/Broodmare Prospect)
Hip 90 Love And Pride in foal to Distorted Humor
Hip 104 Mizdirection R/BMP
Hip 106 More Chocolate R/BMP
Hip 110 My Happy Face R/BMP
Hip 195 Mi Sueno in foal to Frankel
I want to see what the two in foal to Franke go for. In Lingerie daughter of Empire Maker and retired last year at 3. Mi Sueno daughter of Pulpit out of Madcap Escapade. Some nice pedigree there.
Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
Oh my gosh, Love and Pride, beautiful pedigree, IndyxStorm Cat mare, can’t believe they’re selling her, owner just loved her. Wish I had money to buy some of these mares I so pray they don’t go overseas.
Sue FLCPRC
All these great girls better stay with us here in the USA. These are some real favs and I am sorry to see them leave the track. I know they can’t race forever and they will be happy being Mom’s. USA MOM’S

Thanks again for the article on previous page. “Arc” :Post Position Draw is today.
It’s Friday Now on the East Coast
Many prayers being said for Ya My Dear Orfevre. Hope really hard you get a good post position.

Max
Peggy. No worries. He got the worst one last year, and nearly won. If it is meant to be, it will happen. Hooves crossed that this is it. Go for the wire, Big O.
Max
Braids on a Clydesdale! Hovis has designed his own stressage test which includes stealing sandwiches from judges. Happy Friday to Sheena and best wishes to all who love Hovis, and good luck to all of the horses in the Keeneland meet, especially Danny.

Sue FLCPRC
I am new to all this but I think Hovis is going to be in big trouble after that performance!
Although I do like that he has the important things in mind. Like the sandwich and the ice cream yum.
Sue
Randy
Oh my! Hovis’ dressage ride was painfully familiar as back in the day I think my horse and I committed a good many atrocities along similar lines. The funny part… our dressage scores were almost always higher than those for our cross country and stadium jumping efforts!
I have one more thing to add to Hovis’ beautifully thought out and choreographed ride:
Soon after entering dressage ring, rider’s mind goes blank, completely forgets the program and starts making stuff up… with Pony Club teammates looking on in horror, it was decidedly NOT our finest hour.
Hovis, you have a really beautiful, sweet and kind face, which completely belies your impish… OK, naughty… personality. You are my Friday Delight!
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Just love Hovis………………………………………
Terry Crow
I like the idea of stealing ice cream from a kid. Hovis is the man.

Max
I am laughing so hard I’m crying at this weeks Hovis. Having shown in dressage this really rang my bell, hysterical, I have to print this out and save it. hugs
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
It was pretty much “all Greek” to me so your previous dressage experience must have been quite helpful in the interpretation of his “routine.” Assume the A, B, X, etc. are specific points in an dressage arena? Always good for a chuckle – just wish I understood more of it.
Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
Sandy,
That is very true, most people don’t know that much about dressage, suffice it to say it is a very disciplined riding style, with strict composure and obedience required by the rider and horse. Hovis broke every rule even entering the ring. Ha, ha, too funny. hugs
Barbara Wood (Texas)
Oh, Hovis, what would we do without you?? Just too funny for words. Any who are not following him are missing a huge treat.
Dear all: Good morning. Those of you who have kids (my only one is 40!) might want to record a new show starting on CBS Saturday mornings. This would be a welcome respite instead of cartoons. Not sure of the time (your guide would show it), but it is called “Lucky Dogs” about a man who is a dog trainer. He chooses certain dogs to train to enhance their adoption chances. Should be good. Good for adults without kids too.
Hugs.
Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
Barbara,
How refreshing I’ll definitely have to tune in. Love those dogs!! hugs

Dear Peggy Orfevre has a good draw in the Arc Stall 8!!! Aidan’s Leading light and Ruler of the World are 5 and 6 respectively. The Fugue has been withdrawn one less girl for him to worry about. Hugs Sheena

Good morning my dear Z nation family. Hope the night was restful and not too much worry about Prince Coz, Hovis, Orfevre and the rest of the rainbow crowd. Pray today is stress free and Blessed in all that is undertaken today. May our Father in Heaven met each and everyone of us at our points of need. Praying for Peace for our great Nation and grace for our leaders to lead with compassion and justice. I Pray this in Jesus name, Amen.
@Sheena.davies(Wales), you have such fun humor!, your boy should maybe wear blinkers as he seems to be a ladies boy and gets distracted by them ladies!, so, I agree with you that with one less female to worry about, he will focus more on the race which will be a good thing.!. Will be praying for your boy though. He seems to have a world of fans, waoh.!
@Barbara, I agree, Hovis is a clown, so adorable though, I hope he has as much fun racing too.!
To the Queen of our hearts Queen Z, good mornng, here is wishing you a wonderful day with the little one. Has Prince CoZ called you yet?, you know him, trying to be a big boy. How is Prince Z13?, much love to him too.
Just me signing off for now and wishing everyone an awesomely Blessed day. Is Well. LOL to all.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
What’s happened to The Fugue? Read that she was all primed for this after her latest victory? Granted, this may be good news for “O” but hope she is OK.
Max
Sandy. From what I have read, she was withdrawn for tactical reasons. The turf is not to her liking. Otherwise she’s okay.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Sheena
I am so “happy” with his position. I was hoping for that area. I really believe he can do it.
But, most of all hope he and all stay safe. Did you see the picture and article in Blood Horse today. That is a great picture of him. Just love him so.
I have gone brain dead, but the filly that Frankie was going to ride do you know what post she drew. I am worried about her.

Dear Max Diolch yn Fawr I just cant stop laughing at Hovis stressage test. Where were you, dear boy, last year for the London Olympics, Viagra wouldn’t have had a look-in especially if you’d stepped over the prostrate judge and blown a kiss to the others! the gold medal was yours for the taking!Good luck with the new lady(as in mare) in your life Hubba Hubba! Sheena,
I know wasn’t this hysterical, I guess it helps if you know dressage. I bet your darling English rider that won last year will be concerned about competing against this guy, ha.ha. Loved it. Hugs

Sheena. This is one of my favorites. Loved the ice cream and sandwich part in particular. I guess that Totalis has no worries?

Susie
I encourage the Mosses to let Coz grow up and NOT race him as a 2-year-old, much too young. Please give him the time he needs, mentally and physically, to mature. Lead the way in only asking horses to run when they are ready, not because of some human-
created calendar. The result will be much more successful.
maureen phi-llips
Dear Susie, am sure the Mosses will take everything into consideration and do whats best for Prince CoZmic One like they did for his mama. She took her jolly good time and they gave her all the time she needed. When she was ready, they said, lets do it. I am positive they would give CoZ the same opportunity to tell them when he is ready to race. They love their babies and would not be forced to do something they don’t think will be in their best interest. They are not that type of owners, you can take that to the Bank. So, don’t worry, Prince CoZ, could not be in better company with his handsome assured self. Left to him, he would have been racing when he was a toddler, did you see the tape?, had to be restrained. That boy, he is rearing to go I tell you. It is well though. Have a Blessed day.
Rosemary McCauley
Susie: If you have been following the Mosses and their horses at all, you would not have felt the need to express your concerns – you would already know. They are not first timers and they know what they are doing.
Add to this everything Maureen phi-llips just posted.
Rosemary McCauley
Redneck Alert!!I
I have the Redneck definition of a word that I think is very appropriate at this time to post. I don’t want anyone to be insulted – please be aware that I am a Redneck and nothing Redneck is insulting to me.
GUMMIT – Noun. An often-closed bureaucratic institution.
USAGE: “Great … Another gummit shutdown!”
Terry Crow
Rosemary-If the redneck club starts meeting again you are still the president of the Arizona chapter.
Rosemary McCauley
Thanks Terry. I still have the presidential robes. Will have to dust them off.
Good luck to Wise Dan today.

That fool was lucky none of the Zen nation was around! He would’ve received a good scolding. I can’t get enough Coz. He is so gorgeous.
Can’t believe the horses on the sales list. Some of my favorites. Hope they all stay home where they belong. Especially dear Ebby.
maureen phi-llips
No!!!!!!, not my Ebby, what happened?, too much expectation to be like Queen Zenyatta,? but there can only be one queen. She will come into her own if they would only trust her!. Am praying for a good home for her if it ever happens that she is sold!. Lord, you never to help our Ebby!
Max
The fact that Ebby is being sold is not a reflection on her abilities as a racer. Unfortunately her owner passed away earlier this year and his estate is being disbursed. Hopefully Ebby will find another owner who loves her as much as Eric Kronfeld did.
maureen phi-llips
Thanks Max for the update and correction. Still, Lord please help Ebby find an awesome home where she would be loved, Amen. It is well.
Max
Maureen. I’m kind of worried about this myself. Prayers can help her. She needs a good home as all horses do.
Starr
When I looked at the sale catalog yesterday, Ebby’s name was NOT on the list although I read she was to be in the sale. But she also posted a workout this week so maybe she was withdrawn…?
maureen phi-llips
Mean’t to say ‘Lord you NEED to help our Ebby’ , not ‘Never’, come on now Maureen, english please.
Donna Olinger
Kind of sureal, and a little sad to see him leave……….Lanes End Farm.
But, he is headed for his training to be a great racehorse like his mother and father.
I wish him the best. He sure is a handsome boy !!!!!
Hope Zenyatta, doesn’t miss him too much. She is such a good mother, and it shows that she loves both of her colts very very much.
Thanks for sharing…and keep us posted as often as you can on Cosmic One’s training.
sheena.davies(wales)

Sheena. Congrats on getting the book. Thanks very much for letting me know. No sight of mine here in the ROTW. Darn that ocean. I’ll give it until the end of next week before taking to the email to make inquiries.
Have heard the stories about Toto. I recall that he also may have had a breeding accident? Would like to see him return. He’s brilliant indeed.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
At least they know you’re located in the ROTW – I hate to think what has probably happened to my order given that I never could find the right place to tell them that.
Max
Sandy. They can probably figure it out from your address. If you are not in the UK or Europe, you are definitely ROTW. You can always email them if the doesn’t arrive. The ROTW is a big place.

The Fugue taken out of the Arc de Triomphe after overnight rain
Sky Sports Last Updated: October 4, 2013 11:48am
Overnight rain at Longchamp has led to the defection of The Fugue from the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
With 8mm reported to have reached the track, conditions were officially changed to ‘soft’.
The Fugue’s trainer John Gosden had long since warned that soft ground would see her pulled out of the race and her likely next target is now the Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita next month.

Well, guess what friends.Cindy and I will be in the paper. I asked the reporter, why us and she said: That City Council member Mrs. Shively told her about us and how she went to our reception just to meet us and to say congrats. How cool is that? The article should be out sometime next week in print and on their web site. Woot Woot!!
Once I know it’s out there, I’ll make sure to post the link here.

Heidi-Very anxious to read the article.

Dear Max Was so excited I posted twice! the snail may find it difficult to cross the pond in a hurry, mine came by 2nd class postage.Yes, Toormore is a very good horse, hope Moosie doesn’t teach him some tricks! I was watching Paul Nicholls video of the forthcoming jumps season, he’s been buying a lot of new horses, Big Buck’s should be back in Jan, no idea if Ruby will be riding him, had hoped he would. Good luck to Wise Dan tomorrow, have heard Silver Max is running??? an each way bet?Hugs Sheena

Japanese pair score positive Arc barriers
Posted by: AAP+ Filled in: International Horse Racing | 5/10/2013 at 12:12pm
Japan’s hopes of landing Sunday’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe for the first time were boosted on Friday as both their runners received favourable draws for the Longchamp showpiece.
Last year’s unlucky runner-up Orfevre was drawn in eight – where 2010 winner Workforce sprang from – and Japanese Derby winner Kizuna 11 of the 18-runner field giving them an excellent chance of fulfilling a dream that began with their first runner 44 years ago.
The highly fancied unbeaten French filly Treve – who was the mount of Frankie Dettori until he fractured an ankle on Wednesday – will have a tough task to extend her unbeaten record as she drew 15.
