Happy Monday!

Zenyatta, 13Z and Cozmic One were visited by Jerry and Dottie this weekend. It was a particularly special visit because they were there to see Coz off as he departed Lane’s End for Mayberry Farm in Florida. At Mayberry he’ll follow in his mom’s footsteps and focus on his new routine—learning to be a racehorse. Alys captured video of his departure for the fans.

The team spent time with Zenyatta, who is looking great and in foal to War Front. They also said hi to 13Z, who’s having a blast this fall with his buddies.

    How wonderful to see Coz and to know that Jerry and Dottie visited. I am surprised that Ann was not there too! I hope Ann is in good health. Coz is just so handsome! WOW!

    Christophe Soumillon has won the arc a couple of times too, hasn’t he? I am feeling a little better about him riding him this time. I compare last year’s Arc to Zenyatta and Blame’s Breeder Cup 2010

    Those were just the best races. Just once in a lifetime races. I sure want Big O to win this year. I think he did hit that fence a little bit last year. I think Soumillon is doing better with him now.

      Peggy. Christo has won at least twice on the great race mare Zarkava and Dalakhani. I agree with TC. A jockey can make a difference, but it’s always the horse who decides it. If the Big O is on that day, he’ll do it. The Arc is a tricky course, but he knows it now. Just stay clear of those fillies. Go Big O. Go for the wire.

    Good morning, all! I have updates on some of those we have been following.

    Update on Capona and her mom Sweet Mary: Capona has put on 72 pounds and her mom 33. They both have received their EWT/West Nile vaccines, and they are due to be given de-wormer next week.

    Amazingly, Destiny at Skip Over Trouble is coming along well.

        • I did not realize that Baylor was doing so well as I had not seen any of the scores, unlike Kentucky. Since Texas A&M is out of the conference now, Oklahoma State just got beat and Texas apparently is not much, looks like a bowl game at the end of the year.

      Thank you so much for the update. Hope my dear Betsy’s leg issue resolves itself I couldn’t bear to have something bad happen now. Doesn’t she have an amazing resemblance to Penny’s Destiny. I read where Penny actually contacted Teresa to see if they knew where she originally came from. They look like sisters.

      Such good news about Capona and her mom, pray they continue to gain weight on their long road back.

      Sheena. Given the talent in Montjeu offspring, this may be a bargain. With Montjeu gone too soon, Coolmore may want to have as many of his progeny in their stables as possible. As you know, Nick is one of them, and obviously Nick is a very tough horse to have come as far as he has in his recovery from injury. Lucky he is and he has first class care, but his disposition to carry on played the primary role. Like our Paynter. Power up Nick.

    So exciting to see Coz all grown up and heading off to his new life of racing! Such a long journey from baby to the track and each step of the way is filled with hope and dreams. I pray that Coz will always remain safe and that he will follow in his great mother’s path.

    @Peggy (N)–I left you a comment on your post about the Keeneland sale at the bottom of the last page. I don’t know if it entirely answers your question, but it is the best I could do off the top of my head. Just to get the day going, here is a joke remotely related to dogs. After years of service, a rich lady decided to fire her maid after many years of service and hire someone younger. When she heard the news, the maid took a steak from the refrigerator and threw it to the family dog. “Why did you do that?” asked the lady of the house. “I never forget a friend,” replied the maid. “The steak was for all his help cleaning the dishes all these years.”

    So worried about EBBY and Stanwyck going to the sale. I pray their new owners will care as much for them as we do.

    Our boy has left home for school. It seems like yesterday we were all on pins and needles waiting for his birth. He is everything and more I hoped for from Zenny’s first born. He is handsome and still growing. I don’t care about his confirmation! It’s his heart that will make him a champion at whatever fate has in mind.

    Dearest Zenny you have given us such wonderful gifts. Thank You Jerry, Ann and Lanes End Farm for allowing us to share a small part of the unfiinished story of the great Zenyatta.

    @ Pam Homeier– Glad you got to see our beautiful valley!! I dream of of organizing a Zenyatta gathering here someday,if I win the lottery,paying everyone’s airfare and lodging–wouldn’t that be fun?? Then,everyone could meet Barnaby and Traveller and see this beautiful spot and all meet each other in person!! Big dream,I know,but,if I win the big one,I’m going to make it happen!!!

    Bruce Willis had two restaurants down in Hailey,just 11 miles south of here. One was a fifties-style diner type with 50’s memorabilia,that was primarily known for breakfast’s and lunches,called Shorty’s. Just down the block from that was his place called The Mint,which had a nice restaurant downstairs and a nightclub upsatirs. His own band would occasionally play–it used to be fun to see and hear him play harmonica and sing rock and roll!! He also owns a fabulous old theatre down there that he remodeled beautifully,and,in which he started a live theatre company which is still thriving. He has starred himself in two different productions of Sam Shepard plays–very fun to see him act on stage!! For many years,he lived here full time and his girls all went to school here. Shorty’s has been sold,but is still operating. The Mint is closed and is for sale. He has a new life now and is not here very often

      Dear Sue, That’s it!!!!! Shortys. We had lunch there. We had a great time! And dinner at The Mint. Delicious! Our waiter told us Bruce usually shows up if he is in town. But I think we were told he was in L.A. signing a contract for a Die Hard movie. Does he still have his house? What a great idea if you win the lottery!!! Would go back to Idaho in a heartbeat! But only to visit. I love my rolling hills of Kansas!!!!

      Thanks Sheena, mighty kind of you to give me the update on Rachel A and her strapping little one, who praise the Lord is fit and healthy. Sometimes, life throws us curve balls but with God’s
      grace we are able to hit it out the ball park. She will be fine and a great, fearless race horse, haven had to learn to have heart at a young age.

      A least, Rachel A is with us and might have another little one one day. How is Taco her son?, is he also off to school somewhere?. Thanks again and I hope your day was Blessed. Good night and sweet Blessed dreams are wished you. It is well, LOL.

    Zenny, you’re still my girl and always will be – love you so! It kind of tugs at my heart strings to see Coz leaving Lanes End. It’s like leaving his innocent youth behind as he heads off to his future. And so it has begun – the march of a hoped for future champion. No matter what, we’ll love you.     Here it is, the controversial pic that has caused an uproar. Hes just sitting there, and Nina Keiser took this pic i believe (she created zennys statue). No one should be allowed to do this, even if its just wanting to sit atop one of the greatest racemares. You dont see it happening to Secretariat or John Henry though…

      OMG, I can’t believe this guy dared to sit on Z’s back! I hope he was pulled off and thrown out of the park…….how disrespectful to any of these beautiful statues.

      That person was incredibly stupid to do what he did. I agree that he should have been asked to leave the track. These statues are not meant to be carousel horses to be jumped on at the whim of someone who doesn’t have any sense. The Zenyatta statue is placed in a position on the grounds to be accessible to fans for photo opportunities, just as Zenyatta was made accessible to fans when she was racing. But this man took things way too far and could possibly cause actions by the track to make the statute less accessible.
