Happy Monday!
Zenyatta, 13Z and Cozmic One were visited by Jerry and Dottie this weekend. It was a particularly special visit because they were there to see Coz off as he departed Lane’s End for Mayberry Farm in Florida. At Mayberry he’ll follow in his mom’s footsteps and focus on his new routine—learning to be a racehorse. Alys captured video of his departure for the fans.
The team spent time with Zenyatta, who is looking great and in foal to War Front. They also said hi to 13Z, who’s having a blast this fall with his buddies.
We’d like to thank Lane’s End for all of the time, enery, and love that they have put into Coz. For that, we are very grateful.
Enjoy!

Great Video…Thanks! He is spectacular looking!

Worthy of a song, perhaps?
Linda in NJ
I second that
nancy
He is just stunning, can not wait to see him next year on the track. Jerry and Ann is he coming to CAL? :)
Nancy Albin
Will he be on the track in 2014? I am so excited… can’t wait. He is as stunning as his mama Queen Zenyatta! I have not been excited about a race since the Queen Zenyatta has raced.
Jane Wade
Coz looks fantastic! Thank you so much for the updates, pictures and videos!

His is gorgeous and certainly well behaved. What an exciting thing to watch his progress from the moment of birth! Zenny and 13Z look great, too. Glad Dottie is involved. Zenyatta meant so much to them and they did such a great job.
Barbara Brayton
Waah! Coz is leaving. I wish him the best. He certainly is beautiful, just like his mother.
Randy
Wow, I missed being on here yesterday and what do I find when I get back? The firstborn has left the nursery and is off to college! The whinny at the end, whether it was Coz or not, made my eyes well up.
I echo Team Z’s comment at the end of their post… I feel so grateful to Lane’s End that Zenyatta, and each and every one of the horses who live there, are treated with such care and kindness. Even the barn cats look like they’re well taken care of. I think all the foals are given the very best start possible there and I wish them all well as they start their journeys to become whatever life has in store for them. I probably could never work there… I’d be sobbing over every single one of them as they leave home!
Thank you Jerry and Ann, John and Dottie, Lane’s End, Team Z, Alys, Tyler and the other wonderful photographers and videographers, and everyone else who so unselfishly shares these tidbits with us. You make a lot of people very happy!
Rosemary McCauley
Amen, Randy. And wouldn’t Mario be proud of the grooming job Lane’s End did on Coz? He looks absolutely like glass, just like his Mom did every time Mario led her to the paddock.
Randy
Absolutely… such beautifully turned out horses buffed to a shine with every hair in place!
Heather Myers
Coz has matured into a very handsome fellow and loads so well for a baby.,
Arlene
Thank you very much for the news and wonderful pictures.

Thank you Ann, Jerry, Dottie …all Team Z…. for the wonderful care and love you give for Zenyatta and her colts. Also thanks for all the pictures, videos, and updates. It is going to be fun to see how Coz takes to racing. I know I will never forget the excitement I felt when Z was racing. It was so much fun watching her dance her way to the track. There will never be another one like her…….she is so very very special!!!

Good luck to Coz as he follows in Mom’s footsteps, starting his training at Mayberry. He looks wonderful and if he’s half as good as Mom he’ll make us all proud.

Dear all– I was just reading over one of the many newsletters I get from rescues each month, and I came across some information about a group that we should know about. It is a group in Ohio who helps rescues with their hay needs. They are a 501(c) 3 organization, and their name is Brennan Equine Welfare Fund. The website is http://www.brennanequinewelfarefund.com. You would know many of the names of places they have helped. Kudos to them for their wonderful work.

Dear Max Will definitely let you know when I get Hovis’s book ,it’s called The Year of The Destroyer. Thanks very much for giving us the Bransby website, like Sandy I had been trying H&H to no avail.Meg Nicholls was riding at Chepstow today, don’t know if she plans to become a jockey. Wild Coco has been retired and has a date with Frankel next season.Hugs Sheena
Max
Sheena. Entirely fortuitous how I found that website. I was inspired by a comment from Sandy and recalled Hovis saying that he gets nothing from his hard work, as in some carrots, and the money from his books all goes to other horses through the Bransby charity. Now I know too that I am living on the outskirts of the planet in the Rest of the World, while you must be at its center. Neigh!
Disappointed about Wild Coco as she was one of Henry Cecil’s favorites. I like to see these horses race. As long as she has a nice life is however the main thing. Mad Moose taught me that truth.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Max – I ordered the book from Bransby too, and I saw that notice about non-UK buyers indicating Europe or “the rest of the world” but I never saw any place to actually DO that on the order form. Sure hope my book arrives at some point even if it takes a while. I have visions of it being stuck somewhere in cyberspace :-(
Max
Sandy. It’s on their order form as “outside of Europe”, but on the website they also call it the Rest of the World, and remind us foreign types to click the right box. Frankly, it is kind of cool to live in the ROTW. I like it. Neigh!

Goodnight. Sweet Dreams. Love you all so much. Hugs, JB

Did you ever think when we first felt Zenny literally dance into our hearts we’d continue with this bounty of riches? Seeing her happy and healthy and knowing her offspring are enjoying the best of life is one of the bright spots in this crazy world. Thank yous just don’t seem enough for the Mosses, the team at LE and Z’s original Barn 55 family who loved her first and still do. John, Mario, Carmen, Steve, Frank, Dottie and the rest of the gang allowed Zenny to get a hold of us by making her so accessable. And that was just the beginning of the magic. God Bless you all.

THANK YOU LEF AND TEAM Z!! Coz is Gorgeous!! He was a good boy going into the van!! On to his next adventure!! LOTS OF HUGS TO ALL

I can’t believe Coz is old enough to go off and start training – wow but time flies. And he’s such a beauty too – just like his mom. Thank you for sharing the photos and video with us so we can be part of it all… I hope Coz can feel how much we all love him and wish him well.

Backside 55 posted on facebook that Ebby is listed as a “broodmare prospect” in the Keeneland sale.
I tried to copy the link but it didn’t work.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
See if this works:

Backside 55 also noted that a Moss horse, Stanwyck, is also in the Keeneland sale catalog but as racing or broodmare prospect.

Thanks Sandy, it worked.

What a shock to discover that Stanwyck is also listed in the Keeneland 2013 November Breeding Stock sale! She, however, is listed as a “racing or broodmare prospect.” Looks like the Mosses might be downsizing their operation.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
We must have been posting at the exact same moment BGG :-)

Guess they need to make room for the boys and the little one on the way. Just as long as we don’t see any of them in a sales catalog.

Oh My Word–he is indeed breathtaking!!! He and Zenny always look as if they were made of gleaming satin!! He is really starting to fill out–and ,in the picture with Jerry, looks very grown-up. When I looked at the post this morning after I got to work, the video brought me to tears. I was wondering what he was thinking and feeling . It is a very good thing there is no sound turned on in my work computer here—if I had heard the whinny everyone was talking about–I would have totally lost it!!As it was,a phone call came in that I had to answer and I could barely page the person the call was for without a sob coming over the intercom! I know he will have nothing but the best, but it’s a big change for him and I think we’re all indentifying with that. I lovedit that several people had a thought like I did that it would be great if he could someday return to Lanes End. After he wins the Triple Crown and the BC Classic etc.,etc, of course!! Wouldn’t that be a beautiful full circle. I keep thinking of how Rachel trumpeted her return and imagining Coz doing the same thing someday! May the angels always watch over him and keep him safe always.
@ Linda in NJ–Thanks for putting into words,so very beautifully, our common thoughts–it is beyond wonderful being a part of Z’s extended family–how very blessed we all are!! My eternal thanks to all who make it possible for us to stay connected to these precious, magical horses!!
# Terry Crow–So sorry I missed your birthday—hope we will get to see you at the BC–would love to be able to thank you in person for all the smiles and memories and information you have been kind enough to share with all of us!!!
Precious Coz–I imagine that you are safely ensconsed at the Mayberry’s by now. May you have sweet dreams tonight and may the days to come be filled with exciting new things to learn, lots of new friends and may you know each and every day that you will always be surrounded by love, from near and far.

Mike Smith Back on ‘Dude’ for BC Classic
By Steve Haskin, The Blood-Horse Updated: Tuesday, October 1, 2013 5:32 PM
Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith, who piloted Game On Dude to five consecutive graded stakes victories before giving up the mount in the Aug. 25 TVG Pacific Classic Stakes (gr. I) to ride Royal Delta to victory in the Personal Ensign Handicap (gr. I) on the East Coast the same day, will be back aboard the 6-year-old son of Awesome Again for the Nov. 2 Breeders’ Cup Classic (gr. I) at Santa Anita Park, fellow Hall of Famer Bob Baffert confirmed Oct. 1.

From Steve Haskin’s article
Baffert said he was very happy with the runner-up effort of Zayat Stables’ Paynter in the Sept. 28 Awesome Again at Santa Anita, saying the 4-year-old colt is still a bit rusty and should only move forward off that race. Paynter is also pointing toward the Breeders’ Cup Classic.

I’ve watched Coz load over and over and had to comment on his polka dots that Ann commented on when he arrived. He just couldn’t be more beautiful.

I bet your at your new residence by now. I thought of the beautiful Residence Inn Commercial about the Penguins. Just too cute. When the little penquins are tucked into their beds they are told “Room to Dream Sweetly”
