Happy Monday!
Zenyatta, 13Z and Cozmic One were visited by Jerry and Dottie this weekend. It was a particularly special visit because they were there to see Coz off as he departed Lane’s End for Mayberry Farm in Florida. At Mayberry he’ll follow in his mom’s footsteps and focus on his new routine—learning to be a racehorse. Alys captured video of his departure for the fans.
The team spent time with Zenyatta, who is looking great and in foal to War Front. They also said hi to 13Z, who’s having a blast this fall with his buddies.
We’d like to thank Lane’s End for all of the time, enery, and love that they have put into Coz. For that, we are very grateful.
Enjoy!

Best wishes on your new journey Coz… You sure are beautiful!

What an absolutely stunning young horse! WOW!
Barbara Wood (Texas)
We all remember what Zenny looked like with her ringworm-type skin problem when the Mosses bought her. They fell in love with her, as did we all, and then they laughed all the way to the bank. Coz and 13 Z, we think you are both terrific! Hugs to all. Good night, Sweet Z (and LIS too). Love you always.

YES!!!!YES!!!!YES!!!!! I am SO SO excited.. I have been hoping and praying he would be sent to Jean and Aprils barn for early training.. I met them and just missed meeting John and Dottie by 5 mins in their January 2012 trip.. I had called Jean couple days before I was to have breast cancer surgery.. just to see if I could come meet her and touch/see Zenyattas stall for good luck.. She was wonderful and said who knows I might meet John and Dottie.. My friend was running late and we pulled up to the barn as they were leaving.. but we had a WONDERFUL time touring the facility and talking with jean about Zeny’s early days and all their work there.. I live only a hour from the barn.. and have been actively asking God to please let them send COZ there for training so I cold meet him… So thankful!!!! by the way I got good luck as well as blessed from that day.. We got the cancer in time and after further surgery and treatments am 18 months ok… I will now plan to go meet COZ at least on the anniversary date of that day.. if not sooner!!! or even both!!!! LOVE LOVE TEAM Z
THANK YOU SO SO MUCH JERRY, ANN, JOHN AND DOTTIE for deciding to send him to April and Jeans… Do hope I get to meet you when you make your trip in January/February.. if not sooner.. Bless you!!!

Hooray for you to have defeated the cancer for 18 months!!! Yea!! Here’s hoping that you will have an opportunity to watch Cozmic One in his early training since you are so close. How wonderful would that be?!! Wow!
Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
Catherine,
What wonderful news for you…….the magic of Zenyatta!! You may be our only link to seeing and hearing all about COZ. If you live so close and can get over there once in a while to see him and take pictures it would be just wonderful if you could keep us posted. You could even give him a big smooch for me, ha, ha. hugs
Abigail_1849
What a fabulous story, Catherine, and I’m so glad to hear that you fought & won your battle with breast cancer. And it’s terrific to know that you have a “Mayberry Connection” because none of us wants to lose touch with Coz!
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
So good to hear from you Catherine. I’ve posted a couple of “are you still there?” messages which you must not have seen. Wonderful news about the success of your cancer treatment and that you can look forward to seeing Coz. As you may remember, my sister lives in DeLand so I am hoping to make a visit down there with the same goal in mind :-) Don’t be a stranger!
Bluegrass Girl

Catherine I am glad you are doing well. My Mom is starting the radiation portion of her breast cancer treatment. It is a long road. I am glad you are 18 months free. I am not far away just a straight shot up 75 about a 100 miles. If you are going to make a vistit I would love to come with you or plan to meet up at the farm. Please stay in contact with me here on the blog. Also Sandy has my contact information.
Wish you the best Sue

May Lady Luck and God smile on Cosmic One, he is so beautiful. I wonder how many hands he is now, as he already looks quite tall. He has a beautiful long neck and a very powerful looking rear engine already. He looks so much like Zenyatta. Hopefully the stall that he is riding in is well padded, as his legs were not wrapped.
Thank you for the pictures and video Alys.
Heidi
Don’t you think they don’t want to do something to a million dollar horse? Believe me all precautions have been taken.
Brian & Rhonda
All we can say is WOW!!! I brought up pics for my hubby to see & he was like… Who is that? I told him it was Coz & he totally didn’t recognize him!!! OMG he is absolutely GORGEOUS! Good luck Coz!!! We’re rooting for YOU big guy! We’ve followed you since birth & my husband vows that we WILL see you race in person wherever you may race!! Have safe travels & know we are all behind you!
Bev Winters
Thank you so much for keeping us informed of this new path for Coz and sharing these wonderful pictures. It’s like sending your child off to his first day of school on the school bus. I was impressed with his condition and relaxed manner. Wish the very best and safe passage for him.
Paula Higgins
Oh wow, this was hard watching Coz leave his home. I wonder what he was feeling. He will be very well cared for in Florida but this must be a little tough on him.
MsScorpio1
I made a very positive post on here earlier just as “Most” everyone else has… but who is Linda Sain to be judging COZ ??? He is a baby still not yet even two yrs. old and most assuredly not filled out nor of age to be judged? He has a lot of growing to do yet and no one can predict how he will hold up or turn out. He looked beautiful to me coat and all. I see that he has lots of filling out to do and catching up with his ever changing height. So…Linda Sain, unless you have been selected to render judgment on COZ or his future, please be respectful to the Moss’s and do not post negative things about their horses. You have no right. Please keep your opinions to yourself and give him a chance. We will be waiting to see how well he will do in his future racing career. Not how bad. Thank You!

I have always been totally in love with ZENYATTA ! watched & placed bets on every single race, all 20 of them ! she is the most beautiful and the best Thoroughbred in the world and her two sons are absolutely gorgeous. Why aren’t cosmic legs wrapped for the trip to Florida? We recorded in your A & M Studio, Yes, it was awhile ago :-)
Marshall (NC broad)
Dear Coz,
Best wishes to you, safe travels, and Godspeed!
You look “mahvelous” and seem very well behaved, too.
Enjoy your new schooling. Hugs
Thanks to Alys, LE and all for the photos, video and for keeping us in the loop!
candi carter

PatB from NM
Gorgeous leggy boy. How tall is he right now?
Flora
Hard to believe he is almost two years old now! He has a lot of growing to do, but I can see how magnificent he will be once all the parts mesh together. Take good care of that special boy!
Jo-An
I cried all through this. The Birth, the weaning and now “The Leaving”
I first met Zenyatta at Churchill. She was Beautiful but Coz is “Unbelievable”
May God Be With Him

Jo-An…to that we say AMEN!
JR Random
Coz is looking great, and he’s big for a yearling. Best of luck to him and his connections.
Cynthia Hahn
He certainly is beautiful. Beginnings are always happy and endings are always sad – but it is what is in the middle that counts. And I have a feeling that his middle is going to be one exciting ride!!! I can hardly wait to watch.
You run your race, Coz. And when you are running it at Oaklawn, I’ll be there to cheer you on!!
Thanks for sharing this eventful time with those of us who follow the Queen!
Allen
Coz has grown up to be a beautiful young man. Best of luck in your new adventures, and stay safe. Zenny looks great, she is just picture perfect. Just think one year from now 13Z will be making the same trip. Until then just have fun playing with your paddock mates. Linda your post says it all, well spoken words.
Brian from Scottsboro AL
Team Z & Lanes End…
Thank you for your continued coverage of the birth, growth & now to training of Zenny’s foals! Coz has been my favorite foal since I first laid eyes on him, while my wives favorite is 13Z. I love the fact that we, the public have an opportunity to follow through pictures & blogs the development of young racehorses which in most cases we’d never get to see.
I am a huge fan of thoroughbred racehorses! It pains my soul to the core to hear (or read) the dirty truth of the many cases of poor treatment (neglect, mistreatment or even slaughter) if a horse doesn’t perform to expectation. My wife & I just took vacation in Lexington, Paris & Louisville Kentucky during the Secretariat Festival weekend. We met Jeanne Mirabito of Our Mims Retirement Haven from Paris KY, She let us spend time on her farm with the lovely retired racehorses she’s rescued from certain neglect & a few from slaughter. One of the horses which spent its last days on earth at OMRH was formerly owned by the Moss’. From the bottom of my heart & from talking to Jeanne, the bottom of hers, hats off & applause to you guys for helping OMRH with assistance in the care of your formerly owned horse, you didn’t have to do anything but it shows you truly care for these lovely animals. Sorry!!! I didn’t mean to preach! I just wanted to share…
Once again, GO COZ GO! You are lovely, beautiful & I can’t wait to meet you one day!
Brian
Heidi
Don’t worry, he will never end up there! There is too much invested. If he does pan out, they could sell him to be a hunter or jumper.
Brian
I never thought he would! Me sharing was about the good things OMRH as well the Moss’ have done & are doing. Nothing more!
Barbara Wood (Texas)
Brian–thank you for the recognition you gave to Jeanne M. and Our Mims. She is a heroine. And you are right. No horse should have to wonder where his next meal is coming from.
shirleeinindy
Barbara Livingston’s books Old Friends and More Old Friends tells the story of Our Mims, the mare and the farm. If you read one or both, have a box of tissue at hand. After reading them many times, I still cry. Haven’t figured out as of yet if this love of animals God gave me is a blessing or a curse.
shirleeinindy
I am not an expert but the Lanes End team, Jerry, Ann and John and Dottie are. If something was not right about Coz’s legs they would have noticed and taken action.
Little Red Fuzzy Tail is probably glad to see his big brother go off to school since he can now have all the attention for himself. He is just full of mischief. You can see it in his eyes.
On another subject. I promise nothing more about Muchie until BC week. Thank you all for joining me in my journey with this extra special horse and his trainer.
Gotta warn you. Lea is to run sometime this month at Keeneland.
Terry Crow
shirlee-Don’t stop now. Your devotion to MMM is one for the books. I sincerely hope that he wins the BCC. What a story it will make.
Max
shirlee. I’m always happy to hear anything from you about your Muchie, and the saga of Johnny V. Or any other topic. Look forward to it.
Shannette
Welcome to Florida. You’ll be following in the paths of many great one before you.
Roberta
Coz has grown up into such a handsome boy. Good job Zenyatta and Lane’s End! I felt a mixture of happiness (we soon will start to see if he has inherited all that talent from his mom and dad) but a sadness of seeing his carefree days at the farm, where he was shown so much love, have come to an end. I wonder as they were putting him in the truck, what the people who saw him born, acting out as a young colt, and seeing him grow into a handsome young man (with a love for his jolly ball) must feel; I know his personality made him a standout, and he will be missed. Soon, I hope we can follow him, like we did his mom!
Then, in another year The Red Prince will join Coz, and the Zenyatta dynasty will be on a roll; she certainly produces good looking individuals, now lets see them run!
MaryfromMichigan
Coz is SOOOOO beautiful! I can’t believe he’s leaving home already! All the best, COZ! I hope and pray you’ll have a safe and successful racing career!!!
Naline
How sad to see him go off to school…. I live in Ocala and maybe I can visit him. By the way, he looks outstanding, kudos to the farm crew.
Rosemary McCauley
Thank you Team Z for the photos and video of Coz leaving for Florida. My first thought when I saw the first photo of him walking out of the barn was ‘WOWIE, WOW, WOW!” He is an amazing looking yearling and standing next to Mr. Moss, you can see how tall he is already. As others have said – it is an exciting time for him to begin his future, but sad in a lot of ways. They grow up so fast.
Karen
No wraps when hauling? Is that unusual?
Alex
Cozmic one looks awesome. Can’t wait to see him start racing. Good luck and best wishes!
Trisha Veazey
Thank you team Zenyatta and Lane’s End for the update and pics. Cozmic 1 is beautiful and gorgeous just like his mom.
Good luck Coz in Flordia and practice and train well. We look so forward to seeing you on the track one day God willing .
So many eyes will be watching. Be your own boy and hopefully you will have the heart of your mother.
Love to all
love hugs and kisses
Roberta
Brain, I agree with everything you say. I love horse racing too. Nothing stirs the heart more, then seeing a good race horse, with the spirit and heart and will to win! I hate match races, because good horses will not give up, and it sometimes leads to tragedy. When a horse knows they are good, and shows the world how they feel, it’s a beautiful thing to see. When you see the other side, it takes so much away from something so noble. I wish more owners were like the Mosses; if they were, and people were allowed to follow, and get to know these horses (like we have with Zenyatta) the stands would be filled like they were to see her. The horse is the heart of the industry, and if you take care of them, everything else will fall into place. The way to help the industry, is to reach out to the people with the horse, allow the people to fall in love with the horses (horses are good at capturing the human heart) treat thr horses right, get rid of the dark side of abuse and slaughter (so the people won’t be afraid of falling in love with a horse, only to have something bad happen to it) and see how families will come to the races; the stands will be full, and all will be bathed in the glory of these beautiful giving animals!. Maybe Zenyatta, Ann & Jerry Moss will be the leaders for change; especially if others see their way of doing things, bring good results for all. I’m glad you posted your thoughts and experiences.
Sue Mac-Gray
Coz looks absolutely wonderful!!! He’s nearly 2, which is hard to believe. I’m glad he’s going to the same place where his mom received her early training, but not surprised. I had assumed that is where he’d go. He looks just fabulous and relaxed, too, as someone above also commented. Can’t wait to see him run, but we’ll just have to be patient. I’m sure John is ‘champing at the bit’ :) to get his hands on him.
Thanks so much for the updates!!
